SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! DJINN INFERNI
Hi everyone! It's time for the a weekly battle challenge, and the challenge for this week is Djinn Inferni.
About the Monsters
Djinn Inferni
Djinn Inferni is an Epic card which is great at level 1 with 3 Magic Attack, 3 Speed and 4 Health, and has the Giant Killer ability. It gains the Stun ability from level 5 and gets up to 5 Magic attack at level 6. I’m using the basic level 1 version.
Ruleset
Splinters: All Splinters can be used
Mana Cap: 48
Format: Modern
Cards & Line Up
Summoner
Position | Name | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Djinn Chwala | It has has 9 Health, 5 Shield and the Thorns ability against Melee attacks. It’s the main tank and will hopefully get to reflect some Melee damage. |
2 | Carnage Titan | It has has 8 Health, 7 Shield and the Reach and Double Strike ability, which allows it to attack twice from the second position. It's also great as the secondary tank. |
3 | Spirit Hoarder | It is not very strong but it's main purpose is to heal the backline should any get hurt. |
4 | Djinn Inferni | As it is a fairly high mana battle, the opponent is likely to use some cards with mana cost greater than 10. The Giant Killer ability will come in handy here. |
5 | Technowislogist | I placed it here to utilise its Stun ability, which can make a difference if opponent cards are stronger or just as strong. |
6 | Lava Launcher | It has 3 Ranged attack and 6 Shield, and is placed in the last position to absorb some Sneak damage, if any. |
Strategy
The ruleset for Standard meant that anything goes, and all Splinters are available for use in this battle. This made it difficult to guess which are the possible decks that the opponent will come up with. As such, I opted for a Dragon-Fire Splinter combo and an array of cards with different abilities like Thorns, Double Strike, Giant Killer and Stun, and then I hoped for the best.
I must say that this was fairly close fight, as the opponent also had similar ideas, but with the use of the Dragon-Life Splinter combo. The Djinn Inferni was fairly important in helping to take down Chaos Dragon fast, with its Giant Killer ability. Technowizologist played an important role too, with its Stun taking effect at critical moments. I might have lost if not for that.
Thoughts on the cards
I like Djinn Inferni as it has fairly high damage and is great against "Giants" with a mana cost higher than 10. It's especially effective against the new Riftwatcher cards where there's a fair amount of such cards.
