Hi everyone! It's time for the a weekly battle challenge, and the challenge for this week is Nerissa Tridawn.

About the Monsters

Nerissa Tridawn
Nerissa Tridawn is an Epic card which is great at level 1 with 9 Health and 3 Magic Attack. It doesn't gain any abilities as it levels up but gets up to 5 Magic attack at level 6. I’m using the basic level 1 version.

Ruleset

Weak Magic: Magic attacks hit Armor before reducing Health
Aimless: All Monsters have the Scattershot ability
Only the Water, Earth and Dragon Splinters can be used
Mana Cap: 58
Format: Modern

PositionNameDescription
1Djinn ChwalaIt's chosen as the main tank as it has high health (9), a decent amount of shield (5) and the Thorns ability.
2Djinn OshannusIt has high health and the Void ability, which reduces damage against Magic attacks.
3Chaos DragonA good Dragon card with high Health (10), 4 Shield, with the Flying and Scattershot ability.
4Runemancer KyeA card with decent Magic damage and high health (8), a decent amount of shield (5) and the Flying and Life Leech ability.
5Nerissa TridawnIt has a good Magic damage(3), and high health (9).
6Kulu SwimhunterIt's low cost and used to make up the remaining 4 mana available, and packs a decent punch with its 2 Ranged attack.

Strategy

The ruleset for Weak Magic meant that Magic attacks are pretty much equivalent to Melee and Ranged attacks as they hit the shields first. However, they still have the advantage in the sense that they don't miss (unless the opponent has the Phase ability). The ruleset for Aimless meant that Ranged and Magic attacks are now basically random. As such, my strategy was to choose cards with high health, as the random hits tend to spread damage out amongst all the cards. I chose to use the Dragon Splinter, with the Water Splinter as I had the most cards that meet that criteria.

Due to the randomness of the attacks, luck plays a part in taking out cards. I was lucky that the opponent's high damage cards were taken out first, and the result was that I ended the battle with 4 cards. Wave Brood's taunt was also pretty useless in this ruleset as I didn't use any Melee cards. All in all, I think it was a fairly decent result.

Thoughts on the cards

I think that Nerissa Tridawn is a great card to have, as it has high health and a good Magic damage of 3. It is also great for rulesets such as Equal Opportunity or Armored Up, as it improves the survivability of the card while being able to deal out good damage.
