SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! FLYING SQUID
Hi everyone! It's time for the a weekly battle challenge, and the challenge for this week is the Flying Squid.
About the Monster
Flying Squid
Flying Squid is a common card with high health (8), 2 attack and the Reach ability at level 1. It gets an additional attack at level 3, the Blind ability at level 6 and Backfire at level 10. It is great as the secondary tank with its high health and Reach ability. I'm using the level 2 version, and I should probably get around to getting it up to level 3.
Ruleset
Only the Fire, Water, and Death Splinters can be used
Mana Cap: 99
Cards & Line Up
Summoner: Kelya Frendul - This increases the Speed and Shield of my whole deck by 1.
Position | Name | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Diemonshark | It has high health and high shield and is great as the main tank. It also has a fairly decent base speed of 3, which will allow it the chance to dodge some attacks too. |
2 | Flying Squid | It’s has high health and the Reach ability, and is great here as the secondary tank. |
3 | Wave Brood | It's placed here as it has high health and the Taunt ability, which means the attacks will be concentrated on it first. |
4 | Djinn Oshannus | Placed in the fourth position, to take out the main tank quickly with its Magic attacks. |
5 | Nerissa Tridawn | Placed in the fifth position, it has a high Magic attack of 3 and is also used to take out the main tank quickly. |
6 | Deeplurker | Placed in the last position, to take out the Opponent's Monster with the lowest health. |
Strategy
The mana cap here was at the maximum of 99, which means that you can practically use all your high mana cards. The strategy here was to use cards with high health and strong attacks. The opponent was also using mostly the Fire splinter for his last 5 battles. As such, I thought that the Water Splinter cards with its high health and with the added shield from Kelya would be best to counter the Fire splinter. However, I was a little worried when I saw the opponent's deck, as his use of the Disintegrator and Tusk the Wide meant that my initial attacks were rather gimped. While I still won due to resilience from the added shields and high health, the battle did take much longer what I initially expected.
Thoughts on the card
I like the Flying Squid, as it has good stats to be the secondary tank and the Reach ability for high mana fights. It is, however, not very useful in low mana fights due to it high mana cost.
