SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! MAGI NECROSI
Hi everyone! It's time for the a weekly battle challenge, and the challenge for this week is Magi Necrosi.
About the Monster
Magi Necrosi
Magi Necrosi is an Epic card with 4 Health, 4 Speed and 2 Magic attack and the Snipe and Camouflage ability at level 1. It gets 3 Magic attack from level 3, the Oppress ability from level 4 and the Stun ability at level 6. I’m using the basic level 1 version of the card.
Ruleset
Up to Eleven: All Monsters have the Amplify ability
Taking Sides: Neutral Monsters may not be used in battles
Only the Water, Life, Death and Dragon Splinters can be used
Mana Cap: 50
Format: Tournament, Chaos Legion and Riftwatchers edition cards only, No Legendary Summoners
Cards & Line Up
Summoner
Summoner: Thaddius Brood - This reduces the health of the opponents deck and also reduces any magic attack damage.
Position | Name | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Cursed Windeku | It has 2 Melee attack, 10 Health and the Thorns ability, which makes it great as the main tank. |
2 | Queen of Chaos | I used it as the secondary tank as it has a fair large amount of health. |
3 | Silent Sha-vi | With 3 Melee attack, it's used to take out the backline first. |
1 | Dhampir Stalker | It has 3 Ranged attack, and has the True Shot ability. The ruleset here is a huge disadvantage to it though. |
2 | Magi Necrosi | It has 2 Magic attack and the Snipe and Camouflage ability, which makes it the last target. |
3 | Night Ghoul | It has high health and shield and is use to Taunt the opponent so that my other cards can optimise their damage. |
Strategy
This combination of ruleset was a very tough one. The Fire & Regret and Up to Eleven ruleset was pretty much disadvantageous to Ranged Monsters, as their Ranged damage are reflected and amplified. I also owned limited Chaos Legion and Riftwatchers cards. The Taking Sides ruleset removed the Neutral cards from the equation and further reduced the cards that can be used to form the deck.
As such, it was inevitable that I would need to use some Ranged Monsters in my deck. The strategy I opted for was then a combination of high health and good damage cards, and to hope for the best. Cursed Windeku was used to provide added damage to Melee monsters with its Thorns ability, and Magi Necrosi was used to take out the non-Melee cards first.
I would say that my strategy worked, though I do find it a little close. The key to winning here was Magi Necrosi taking out the Merdaali Guardian first, preventing my opponent from having any heals.
Thoughts on the card
I think that Magi is a great card to have, with it's Snipe and Camouflage ability. It can take out the lower health non-Melee cards first while not being targeted until it is in the first position. While I do not think that it has an edge in most rulesets, it could be an interesting card to use in the Explosive Weaponry ruleset.
