[ENG/ITA] Splinterlands: Improve Your Gaming Experience / Migliora la Tua Esperienza di Gioco

Splinterlands is the game that brought me to Hive: I had just entered the world of cryptocurrencies when, by reading all over the internet about it, I first decided to try Splinterlands and then to request the access keys to my brand new Hive account. At first, I was enthusiastic about Splinterlands... and much less about Hive: at the time Splinterlands, in fact, allowed newcomers to earn a few dollars in a few days just by playing the game, without having to buy cards or anything else. Hive, on the other hand, looked like an unusual platform, not so much user-friendly, with its HP and RC, the concept of upvotes, the curation of contents... in short, it seemed something complicated and difficult to master: not very appealing compared to a game that, in a few weeks, had already repaid me for what I spent to buy the famous Summoner's Spellbook! I would have never imagined that things, over time, could turn upside down so much, with Hive becoming by far my favorite blockchain. Once you start understanding it, you are finally able to all it has to offers and you can see all the capabilities of a UNIQUE blockchain: not yet another Ethereum-killer or clone of a clone of a clone of a token, but a chain that allows you to do things that can only be done here and that offers unique features, without giving up any of the other aspects that have made many other blockchains famous, such as the DeFi. Splinterlands, on the other hand, has gradually lost more and more of its appealing, slowly showing problems that, at first, I didn't noticed (or, perhaps, I chose not to see), reaching the point where I asked myself: is it still worth playing? Because the core of a game should be just that: Playing (with a capital "P"). Earning can be an incentive, but it shouldn't be the only reason to login every day: indeed, in my opinion, earning can't be the only reason to play. A game that isn't fun, for what little I understand after 20 years of gaming, has no future.

Now, I don't want to talk here about what are the problems, in terms of gameplay, that I think Splinterlands has: it's an interesting topic, but certainly a complicated one, because Splinterlands is a huge title, with hundreds of thousands of active users and very ambitious future projects. Maybe I will write something in another post, one day, who knows! Instead, what I would like to highlight here is the crucial utility of some platforms, which have been developed in parallel with Splinterlands and which, in my opinion, contribute enormously at keeping the game interesting and entertaining, balancing part of the problems that afflict him. I'm not just talking about famous platforms such as Peakmonster, an essential tool to rent the cards you want or to try to buy those that you like at a lower price, Splintercards, where you can find many useful tools, such as the one that shows you the price trend of any card in the last 180 days, or Baron's Toolbox, that... well... animated Splinterlands cards!? Do I need to add more?? 😍 I am also talking about newer platforms, which help to expand even more what you can do on Splinterlands with your own assets, increasing more and more that feeling of complete control and infinite possibilities that blockchains have the potential to give us. In this post I would like to highlight two sites that I have been using for a few months by now, which are giving me enormous satisfaction and are keeping alive my interest in the game. I'm talking about the Rental Golem by Splex.GG and NFTy Arcade. About the first one I wrote a post a few months ago and, after another 3 months of use, I can only underline once again how ANYONE who has a collection of cards on Splinterlands should give this platform a chance: being able to rent one's own cards is one of the most useful part of the whole game and one of the things that most characterize Splinterlands. Being able to do this without having to worry about constantly updating prices is simply an incredible step forward.

Every day my collection, which is worth about 200 dollars, automatically generates about 250/280 DEC valued just under 0.20 dollars: annualized this value corresponds to an APR of 36.5%... quite remarkable, isn't it? And do not talk about how much more interesting this value would be if my collection was worth $2,000… or $20,000! I should also add that the Rental Golem only requires the posting authority to work: so there is no danger that it could sell your cards or transfer them to others. I honestly love this platform and I hope that, over time, it expands more and more. I also point out that Splex.GG is one of the markets advertised on the official Splinterlands website...

... and that the site also offers other very useful tools, such as: - the possibility to re-stake your SPS every hour - the ability to re-stake your GLX every hour - the possibility to delegate RC - the ability to fully manage your collection by working on several (potentially all) cards at the same time And these are just some of the many things it allows you to do... and not even the most useful ones! I recommend taking a tour of the site to find out all the others :)

The other site I wanted to talk about is @nfty-arcade. This is an even newer platform that aims to allow new (and old) players to access pre-made and ready-to-battle decks to compete in any chosen League, from Bronze to Champion!

How it works? It's quite simple: - as a lender, you can select the cards you wish to add to the deck you are creating, specify the League for which you think your deck is suitable and, finally, decide what percentage of the rewards you want to leave to the borrower - as a borrower, instead, all you have to do is select the deck you want, among those available, and play! As mentioned above, the particularity of the service is that the "cost" of the deck is paid by splitting the rewards obtained by the borrower between the latter and the lender. The rewards that are splitted are the cards, the SPS and the packs. Merits and potions are not taken into consideration. The split only concerns what is obtained from chests (cards, SPS and packages) and from victories in ranked matches (SPS). It is also important to specify that the split involves also any seasonal chests, so it is better to rent a deck at the beginning of a season. Another aspect to underline is that, for the borrower, the site requires the active authority to be able to automatically send the reward share due to the lender: this is an authority that gives the platform a strong access to our account and, therefore, the team itself recommends using a dummy account or, at least, blocking all your cards, in order to avoid unpleasant bugs. I'm using my main account and nothing unusual has ever happened to date... but you should always know all the potential risks. Even for this platform I have to underline how well everything is working for me and how much fun I find in being able to compete in much higher Leagues than those I would have access with my collection. Furthermore, if it's true that I only get part of the rewards, it's equally true that these have a much higher average value, so I'm actually earning more than if I was playing with my cards. Finally, it should be taken into account that, by playing with someone else's collection, I can rent all my cards with the Rental Golem, adding this gain to my daily income. Synergy at its best! :)

The platforms surrounding the universe that revolves around Splinterlands are a lot: some have similar features, while others are more unique. What unites them all, however, is that they help tremendously at improving the gaming experience, significantly increasing the versatility of the game and allowing to adapt the game to everyone's style (and not vice versa): depending on what you want to focus more, chances are one or more of these platforms can provide you with the needed tools to evolve and improve you way of playing the game, keeping high your interest into the Splinterverse... and this despite some flaws that, I hope, the developers will find a way to improve, over time!

Splinterlands è il gioco che mi ha portato su Hive: ero da pochissimo entrato nel mondo delle criptovalute, quando, a furia di leggere articoli online, mi sono deciso dapprima a provare Splinterlands e, poi, a richiedere le chiavi di accesso al mio account di Hive. Inizialmente ero entusiasta di Splinterlands... e molto meno di Hive: all'epoca Splinterlands, infatti, consentiva anche ai nuovi arrivati di guadagnare qualche dollaro nell'arco di pochi giorni, senza bisogno di comprare carte o altro, ma semplicemente giocando al gioco stesso. Hive, dall'altra parte, si presentava come una piattaforma inusuale, un po' complicata da usare, con i suoi HP e RC, il concetto degli upvotes, la curation dei contenuti... insomma, sembrava un qualcosa di complicato e difficile da padroneggiare: non molto invitante rispetto ad un gioco che, in poche settimane, mi aveva già ripagato di quanto speso per comprare il famoso Summoner's Spellbook! Mai avrei immaginato che le cose, nel corso del tempo, potessero capovolgersi così tanto, con Hive che è ormai divenuta la mia blockchain preferita, proprio e soprattutto grazie a tutte le potenzialità che offre che, una volta comprese e fatte proprie, consentono di scorgere tutte le capacità di una blockchain UNICA nel suo genere: non l'ennesimo Ethereum-killer o clone del clone del clone di un token, ma una chain che consente di fare cose che solo qui si possono fare e che offre funzionalità uniche, senza rinunciare a nessuno degli altri aspetti che hanno reso famose tante altre blockchains, come la DeFi. Splinterlands, invece, ha perso via via sempre più mordente, dimostrando lentamente una serie di problemi e difetti che, inizialmente, non avevo notato (o, forse, avevo scelto di ignorare), arrivando al punto di farmi chiedere: vale la pena ancora giocare? Perchè il fulcro di un gioco dovrebbe essere proprio questo: Giocare (con la "G" maiuscola). Guadagnare può essere un incentivo, ma non dovrebbe essere l'unico motivo per continuare a connettersi ogni giorno: anzi, secondo me, guadagnare non può essere l'unico motivo per giocare. Un gioco che non sia divertente, per quel poco che ne capisco io dopo ormai 20 anni di gaming, non ha futuro.

Ora, non è questo il post in cui voglio parlare di quelli che sono i problemi, a livello di gameplay, di un gioco come Splinterlands: è un argomento interessante, ma sicuramente complicato, perchè Splinterlands è ormai un titolo enorme, con centinaia di migliaia di utenti attivi e progetti futuri molto ambiziosi. Magari potrei dire la mia un'altra volta, chissà! Quello che vorrei, invece, porre in evidenza qui è l'utilità fondamentale che hanno certe piattaforme che si sono sviluppate parallelamente a Splinterlands e che contribuiscono, a mio avviso, in modo enorme a mantenere il gioco interessante e divertente, bilanciando parte dei problemi che lo affliggono. Non parlo solo di piattaforme famose come Peakmonster, strumento essenziale per noleggiare le carte che si desiderano o per tentare di acquistare a prezzi più vantaggiosi quelle che ci interessano, Splintercards, dove trovare tanti tools utili, come quello che ci mostra l'andamento del prezzo di una qualsiasi carta negli ultimi 180 giorni, o Baron's Toolbox, che... be'... carte animate di Splinterlands!? Serve aggiungere altro?? 😍 Mi riferisco anche a piattaforme più nuove, che tentano di espandere ancora di più ciò che è possibile fare su Splinterlands, aumentando sempre più quella sensazione di controllo completo ed infinite possibilità che le blockchains hanno la potenzialità di regalarci. In particolare, in questo post vorrei mettere in risalto due siti che sto utilizzando da pochi mesi, ma che mi stanno dando enormi soddisfazioni e contribuiscono a mantenere acceso il mio interesse per Splinterlands. Parlo del Rental Golem di Splex.GG e di NFTy Arcade. Sul primo ho scritto un post qualche mese fa e, dopo altri 3 mesi di utilizzo, non posso che sottolineare ancora una volta come CHIUNQUE abbia una collezione di carte su Splinterlands dovrebbe dare una chance a questa piattaforma: poter noleggiare le proprie carte è una delle componenti più utili di tutto il gioco ed una delle cose che caratterizzano maggiormente Splinterlands. Poterlo fare senza doversi preoccupare di aggiornare costantemente i prezzi è uno step avanti semplicemente incredibile.

Ogni giorno la mia collezione da circa 200 dollari di valore genera automaticamente circa 250/280 DEC, pari a poco meno di 0.20 dollari: annualizzato questo valore corrisponde ad un APR del 36.5%... abbastanza notevole no? E non parliamo di quanto questo valore sarebbe ancora più interessante se la mia collezione valesse 2.000 dollari... o 20.000! A ciò aggiungiamo che il Rental Golem richiede solo la posting authority per funzionare: quindi non c'è pericolo che lo stesso possa per errore vendere le nostre carte o trasferirle ad altri. Onestamente adoro questa piattaforma e spero che, nel tempo, si espanda sempre più. Segnalo anche che Splex.GG è uno dei market pubblicizzati sul sito ufficiale di Splinterlands...

... e che il sito offre anche altri numerosi ed utilissimi tool, quali: - la possibilità di mettere in staking i propri SPS ogni ora - la possibilità di mettere in staking i propri GLX ogni ora - la possibilità di delegare RC - la possibilità di gestire completamente la nostra collezione operando su più carte (potenzialmente tutte) contemporaneamente E queste sono solo alcune delle tantissime cose che consente di fare... e nemmeno le più utili! Consiglio di fare un giro sul sito per scoprire tutte le altre :) L'altro sito di cui volevo parlare, invece, è @nfty-arcade. Questa è una piattaforma ancora più recente che si propone di consentire ai nuovi (ma anche vecchi) giocatori di accedere a mazzi pre-fatti e già pensati per competere in una determinata Lega, da quella Bronzo a quella Campione!

Il funzionamento è semplice: - come lender, ossia colui che mette a disposizione un mazzo, dovete selezionare le carte che desiderate aggiungere al mazzo che state creando, specificare la Lega per cui ritenete che il vostro mazzo sia adatto e, infine, indicare quale percentuale delle rewards volete lasciare al borrower - come borrower, ossia colui che prende a prestito un mazzo, invece, non dovete far altro che selezionare il mazzo che volete, tra quelli disponibili, e giocare! Come detto poco sopra, la caratteristica del servizio consiste nel fatto che il "costo" del mazzo viene pagato suddividendo le rewards ottenute dal borrower tra quest'ultimo ed il lender. Le ricompense che vengono suddivise sono le carte, gli SPS ed i pacchetti. Non vengono invece presi in considerazione i punti di merits e le pozioni. La suddivisione riguarda, inoltre, solo ciò che viene ottenuto dalle chests (carte, SPS e pacchetti) e dalle vittorie nelle partite classificate (SPS). E' importante, inoltre, precisare che la suddivisione coinvolge anche eventuali chests stagionali accumulate prima del noleggio del mazzo, per cui conviene noleggiarne uno ad inizio stagione. Altro aspetto da sottolineare è che, per il borrower, il sito richiede la active authority, in modo da poter inviare automaticamente la quota di ricompensa spettante al lender: questa è una autorità che dà alla piattaforma un grande accesso al nostro account e, perciò, gli stessi creatori del progetto consigliano di utilizzare un account creato appositamente oppure, quantomeno, di bloccare tutte le proprie carte, in modo da evitare spiacevoli bug. Io sto usando il mio account principale e, ad oggi, non è mai successo niente di strano... però è giusto conoscere sempre tutti i potenziali rischi. Anche per questa piattaforma devo, infine, sottolineare quanto mia stia trovando bene e quanto sia divertente poter competere in Leghe così più alte rispetto a quelle a cui avrei accesso con la mia collezione. Inoltre, se è vero che ottengo solo parte delle rewards, è altrettanto vero che queste hanno un valore medio molto più alto, per cui, di fatto, sto guadagnando più che se stessi giocando con le mie carte. Va, infine, tenuto conto del fatto che, giocando con la collezione di qualcun altro, posso noleggiare con il Rental Golem tutte le mie carte, aggiungendo anche questo guadagno ai miei introiti giornalieri. Sinergia al suo meglio! :)

Le piattaforme che circondano l'universo che ruota intorno a Splinterlands sono numerose: alcune svolgono funzioni simili, altre più originali; alcune esistono da anni, altre sono nate da pochi mesi. Ciò che le accomuna tutte, però, è che contribuiscono in maniera eccezionale al miglioramento dell'esperienza di gioco, aumentando notevolmente la versatilità del gioco e consentendo di adattare il gioco allo stile di ognuno (e non viceversa): a seconda di ciò a cui si vuole dare maggior peso, una o più di queste piattaforme possono fornirci gli strumenti per evolvere e migliorare il nostro modo di giocare a Splinterlands, consentendoci di mantenere alto l'interesse nello stesso... e questo nonostante alcune pecche che, spero, nel tempo gli sviluppatori trovino il modo di correggere!
