Baron's Bounty: Almost 200M DEC Spent!

We're roughly halfway through the event dedicated to the recent halving of Bitcoin and which allows all Splinterlands players and investors to spend DEC/Credits (and if they want VOUCHER) to purchase two exclusive PROMO cards and join a raffle with a ton of incredible prizes up for grabs!

cards.JPG

The purchase cost for each individual copy is 31,250 DEC for Baron Fyatt and 3,125 DEC for Henchling Enforcer: both cards come with the halving ability, as well as having additional abilities that increase their strength in battle.

Baron Fyatt, in particular, seems to be a really interesting card: since it can potentially hit a different target every turn thanks to the scattershot ability, odds are high that, soon enough, the enemy team will find itself with its attack power almost halved

Henchling Enforcer, on the other hand, can count on more firepower and the camouflage ability, which allows it to survive longer in battle - and thus applying the effect of the halving ability on more enemy creatures as the game progresses.

And in addition to these cards, as described just above, there are also many beautiful prizes up for grabs, such as Plots, Runes, and Alpha packs!

Burninators!

Because of this, competition for the top spots on the leaderboard is extremely tough, with tens of millions of DEC being spent by each of the players at the top positions.

Compared to a week ago, the amount of DEC spent has in fact increased again, now approaching 200 million!

as pointed out by @olaf.guy the above amount also includes Credits, so the total DEC spent during the event may be less.

dec burned.JPG

And this has led to some changes in the ranking, with only the top spot holding firmly - also thanks to the HUGE number of DEC it has spent: over 30 million!

Peg still far...

Despite all of this, however, sadly DEC still seems far from reaching its peg again, which is a key goal within the Splinterlands ecosystem to kick-start that flywheel effect that should allow the demand and value of the SPS token to increase.

At this point from now until the end of the event I don't think we will see any more surprises, because the more time passes, the less convenient it is to join the event itself, so the larger investors have surely already made their move.

Of course, the goal of the event was not primarily this, as much as to provide an opportunity for Splinterlands players to get some exclusive cards and try to win some prizes: surely, however, the intention each time is also to put under control the supply of a token that, despite all efforts, continues to be overly abundant in the market compared to not enough demand.

The supply of the DEC in fact figures in billions, so 200 million, although not a few, is still far from being enough to change the situation.

Baron's Bounty: Quasi 200M DEC Spesi!

Wrong, this DEC was not burned, it's company revenue. Also, some of it was credits, not DEC.

I double checked the original post and it doesn't say anywhere that DEC spent during the event is going to be burned: I thought that it was going to be burned (considering the previous events and the titles awarded, which at this point don't seem to make much sense...), but it looks like you are right, so I edited the post accordingly.

Sorry for the mistake and thanks for your comment!

I've also added that the total amount spent includes Credits, even if I feel that most players might have used DEC, as it was much more convenient (due to the de-peg).

You're welcome. I just wanted to correct you so that you became aware that is wasn't burned. The team wanted to burn the DEC and be paid by the DAO but the SPS stalkers rejected that so it was company revenue.

Thanks again! :) now it all makes sense, even if they might have made clearer in the post that DEC wasn't going to be burned imho.
