Weekly Win Notes: Cruel Sethropod Splinterlands Archmage Battles

We missed the deadline for last week's challenge. That was sad. But we are here reporting for duty for the Cruel Sethropod chellenge. Some overall impressions are below, followed by individual commentaries for each battle. Hopefully less half-hearted commentaries than last week's ones.

Overall Impressions

A pure stats monster is a good thing. The game needs more of them. Perfect in Back to Basics, and also examples of the maximum body you can get for a certain mana cost, they are just nice and beefy to have around. Here we have a three-mana drop that really looks nice at max level. In most of the battles below, though we see how it can be great in many situations, even as a tank, although it sometimes falls short too. Enjoy the short comments.

Cruel Sethropod tank! Versus Chain Golem tank! And the Cruel Sethropod... does not win. Oh well. It would have made a nice opening battle. No prizes for this one.

Again the Sethropod tries to be a tank. Here versus a Shieldbearer. Again the consequences are really to be expected. Not a good start for our feature card. Where are the wins?

Sethropod tank wins! Kelya Frendul's buff helps. The extra mana gained from having such a cheap tank allows for a punishing backline that does better than the Life team here.

The same strategy - Sethropod in front. It seems very popular. But a bit unpredictable. Here Alric does too much work and it is unsuccessful again.

Alric doesn't do enough work here. Sethropod tank does the work. It's funny how a lot of these battles are similar but the outcomes are split. Kelya is victorious.

Sethropod tank mirror match. But the extra levels on the Keyla team beat Alric here. This is good to see. For a long time Alric was unstoppable and the only option in Water.

Cursed Windeku is the most expensive Rare in Chaos Legion right now not including summoners. It's a good card. But here it is not good enough. And it is beaten by... Cruel Sethropod! Mana is important. Here is proof. We see the power of the card clearly.

Cheeky Llama and Merc. Not this time for you. Blue's back-line strats have enough damage to win the day. Who likes Llama anyway? Silly card.

Sethropod on both teams, so it's has to be a winning card either way. One, two and three mana drops are vital. It's a fairly universal rule.

Again Sethropod on both Kelya teams so again Sethropod is the winner. And so are cheap cards again. Cheap in dollars too right now perhaps. Buy your Sethropods while you can.

A fail for the Sethropod strat here. Nice to see Sloan getting a win though. The angry Ranged hippo is underrated. Watch him do work.

Another loss for Water here. There seem to be mixed results with this card. Obsidian is the victor in this instance. We knew Earth magic was never going to be bad.

And the last battle is a glorious victory for the Sethropod over Life splinter. It's a pity we never got to see a fully levelled one in action, but great to end on a win.
