Two Gun Pete - Hand Drawing.

This time I tried some wooden pencil color on the pencil sketch that I started from a curvy line. Its been a long time that I did pencil color drawing and after all this time, it was fun for me although the coloring part took a good amount of my time and labour.

I'm going to talk in details about the drawing.

This is the picture that I followed from a gaming site which is splinterlands.com.

Tools:

For the sketch in real:

  • Sketchbook.
  • 0.5 mm Mechanical Pencil.
  • 2B Wooden Pencil.
  • Wooden Color Pencil.
  • Eraser.
  • Pencil Cutter.
  • Cotton Bud.

The Process with the tutorial:

The Pencil Sketch:

I started the sketch using the 0.5 mm Mechanical Pencil.

As I like to do closeup sketch, I chose the upper part of the character includes parts of his arms.

I started the sketch from this hat part which I chose as the root of this sketch while sketching the other parts and I started sketching this hat from a single line.

And here I drew the structure of the face showing the eyes, the ears, the mouth, the beards-mustache and etc.

This part was a little challenging for me as this part says how the final result should be.

I needed to use the eraser for several times especially when drawing the eyebrows and the nose shape.

Then I needed to draw that tiny animal that looks like a Mongoose or maybe IT IS a Mongoose.

I needed to draw it before I draw the full beard as this animal stays inside the beards. And that thing beneath the ear of the character that looks like a earring, is actually the tail of this animal and I needed some times to understand that.

I was confused about whether I should ignore drawing this animal or not and then I added it.

Then I completed (kind of) the pencil sketch adding rest of the parts that could fit on the page.

Drawing closeup is good because the details can be a lot accurate that details from the whole body on a small paper.

Now I used the 2B Wooden Pencil to brighten the sketch up. 0.5 mm Mechanical Pencil was only for the outline but a 2B Pencil is needed to finish up the sketch.

Actually the pencils sketch is still not completed as I did some pencil shading as well which I did after the coloring.

To be honest, I like till now the most as I'm a sketch lover but still I went for the coloring.

The Coloring:

I used wooden color pencil of around 11 colors for the whole sketch and I didn't use any color on the face, I mean on the skin like face, ear, hands. I did pencil shade on the skin parts.

I started coloring through the hairy parts like the beard, mustache, eyebrows and parts if the hair.

Then I finished coloring rest of the sketch. You see the coloring hives a different vibe and I think that's because my color pencils are like this. But I believe this would look far better with digital coloring and I'm thinking of doing that on my future works.

How's it? I'd like to get some honest opinions.
If anybody has any kinds of advice, suggestions for my work, I would be happy to receive them.

Thanks for reading and watching my work.
