SplinterLabs - A Free Resource for New Splinterlands Players

SplinterLabs

Recently, I stumbled across a developing 3rd party project that is really beneficial for newer players of Splinterlands. It's called SplinterLabs, put together by chansetheguy, and there are some really great resources for the Splinterlands community there. This has been a useful tool to talk to other new players, collect some cards, play in contests for DEC, SPS and Vouchers, and participate in community events.

In this post, I wanted to highlight a couple of the nice resources for new players: the Discord (of course), the Faucet, Games, and Events.

The Faucet

It's pretty self-explanatory, but essentially, there are several supporters of the project that contribute DEC, SPS, and Vouchers to the faucet for players to collect. Every 10 minutes there is a "faucet drip" and 1% of the assets are split up among all participants that enter a Captcha. In the above screenshot, you can see that the asset levels are pretty low at the moment, but historically, almost 100k DEC, over 200 SPS, and over 30 vouchers have been donated. *Note - for an asset to be "dripped" there is a minimum of 10 units required, or it is excluded from the drip. Anyone can collect drips or donate assets.

While it is clear that nobody is quitting their dayjob to collect DEC drips from the faucet, even a few DEC every few minutes can pay for low-level renters to really make a difference in Bronze or even Silver Leagues. It's probably not going to cover EOS rental costs, but it gives you a good opportunity to try different cards and build up that rating.

Games & Events

There are currently 2 games playable on SplinterLabs - Dice and Predictions. They are both pretty self-explanatory, but here'sthe general idea.

In Dice, you can wager DEC, SPS, or Vouchers against other users either by playing their existing dice challenges or creating your own. It's a simple single dice roll - highest roll wins the pot.

In Predictions, the idea is to "predict" whether the price of BNB vs. TetherUS will go up or down in value in the next 5 minutes. The more people playing, the crazier the stakes, and the payout is dynamic based on how many people are currently wagering at the moment (there is a base wager there so you can always play, just not for very high stakes without competition).

The Events that are currently available are based on a user's performance in the games during set times, and as shown there are some decent prizes in there for some lucky winners. Both events start tomorrow, so don't wait to check SplinterLabs out!

Discord

There is a discord link on the page as well, and I highly encourage you to go check that out if any of this seems even a little interesing to you. There are more contests there, and again, nothing huge, but potentially gamechanging for someone struggling to make it in Bronze.

Vaults & Trades

I'd like to go over these in a later blog post once folks get a chance to check out the site. Basic idea is that there is a feature for safe trades and a random card selection from different users' card vaults that is based on an average cost of all the cards with some selection criteria available.
