This week's battle challenge showcases the Deeplurker, a creature of balance and blood! Watch as the Deeplurker feasts on Rennyn's forces. This team is all about buffs!
Splinterlore:

Terrifying to behold, Deeplurkers are a poisonous fish that dwell at the bottom of the ocean and prey on the weak. However, they are known to travel to the surface in times of dire need. Many believe that they are sensitive to the balance of elemental water magic and, when that balance is in danger, the Deeplurkers rise to attack or defend it.
The Kulu Swimhunters swam just below the surface of the water, following the Praetorian fishing vessel. When it lowered its sails and came to a halt, they would strike.
Movement from the depths below caught the eye of one Swimhunter. He turned his tentacled head to peer down. Something large rose toward them. Before he could call out a warning, a massive Deeplurker swam into their midst in a churn of frothing water.
Its grotesque tongue lolled as the enormous fish seized the smallest Swimhunter by the waist, teeth tearing into rubbery flesh. Another churn of water, and the Deeplurker descended into darkness with its prey.
The remaining Kulu Swimhunters scattered, fleeing in all directions, and the Praetorian fishing vessel sailed on, blissfully unaware of how close its crew had come to their demise.

Summoner:

The ruleset was aim true and rise of the commons, offering all but the fire splinter, which is great because I could worry less of a Yodin but still plenty to still be worried about. I went with Kelya Frendul for the defensive capabilities with the +1 Shield, as well as +1 speed to strike first! Kelya is extremely strong with only her main fault being her inability to defend against magic. However, that is not a problem in this fight.

Here's the lineup (first position to last):

Diemonshark is the go-to tank for the water team, at least for the silver league. It's extremely powerful with 3 melee damage, enrage, and trample! In addition to its offensive ability, the 6 shields, 8 health, and 4 speed make it a great tank. Not to mention, Kelya boosting the speed and shield by one!

Flying Squid in the second position is also a staple within the Kelya water team. It serves as a great reach monster, to double down on the Diemonshark's initial attacks!

Demented Shark's role within this team is to serve as somewhat of a meatshield and also to grant the team Inspire. This ability gives my whole team another +1 melee damage, which is great because it is primarily melee. Surprisingly, I don't see this card much. Probably because of River Hellondale but in this ruleset I would not have been able to play him. If you haven't I would recommend Demented Shark!

Deeplurker, the star of the show is incredible! At level 5, max for silver league, it has 4 melee, 4 speed, 7 speed, and opportunity. Akin, to the dragon jumper but is able to synergize with Kelya's +1 speed and +1 shield. Not to mention, Demented Shark gives a +1 melee through Inspire. This serves as an incredible assassin! I placed it in the middle of the team so that hopefully it would have enough time to take down monsters. This is a beast and it knows it!

Venari Wavesmith is our only magic monster but we are primarily using her for her defensive ability Protect in order to give +2 shield, on top of our already +1 shield from Kelya. Since it is guaranteed that they will hit with a melee or range it seemed fitting to add more defenses. It also had a hand in taking down the enemy tank that had shield.

Supply Runner is our last buff! He offers us swiftness, giving another +1 speed on top of Kelya's +1 speed! So, 2+ speed overall to all monsters makes our slowest card here 5 speed while the fastest is at 6!

So let's see how this works!

In this battle, we were up against Prince Rennyn. He is masterful at archery providing +1 ranged to his monsters and is generously supplying his team with +1 health and speed. He is a great match against Kelya! Notice how he places the Mycelic Infantry and Cyclops in the front and back. Both of these two monsters have shields, which makes them more difficult to get through, especially for a heavy melee or ranged team. Thankfully, I did not spread out my attack to much so I did not attack his backline. 4 monsters at the start of the battle focused in on the first position monster, while Deeplurker is the only one picking at the weakest monsters in the back. Over the course of the fight, you will see how the first few monsters went down but Deeplurker stood ground.

Questions from Splinterlands:

Did your strategy work? Yes, it did. I wanted as many buffs as possible and it played out in my favor because of it. With the additional shield, speed, and melee, my monsters could put in work! Deeplurker as the extremely strong assassin was able to take down many monsters in the back.

What will you try differently next time? Next time, I will probably use an axe master instead of supply runner if the mana cost allows it. A lvl 3 axe master could do 6 ranged damage to the first position, which would have done better in making quick work of the Mycelic Infantry.

Do you like the DEEPLURKER? Why or why not? Of all the cards in the Chaos Water Splinter, Deeplurker shines above many. It is shocking that it is a common card! The power, speed, and health I believe make it superior to the Dragon Jumper. I love adding buffs to it so that it is even more powerful.
