This week's battle challenge showcases the Weaver of Flames, the Lava Spider! The Lava Spider feasted on Owster Rotwell and his morsels of minions!

I ranked up to gold yesterday and I am under-leveled comparatively, yet that did not stop the Lava Spider from showing off what it can do!

Summoner:

The ruleset was no melee and enraged, offering only the Death and Firesplinters. I wanted to be surprising so I went with fire. Now, I do not have a fancy Yodin Zaku who would synergize well with ranged. I had Tarsa... Honestly, using Tarsa did not provide me much else except an additional HP. Yet, that +1 HP is also what helped me shift the tides towards victory as Heatsmith did not get downed as easily, providing me time with my ranged monsters.

Here's the lineup (first position to last):

Heatsmith was to go first as my low mana tank, providing void just in case it was magic heavy. In addition, good speed, which in the enraged ruleset could allow possible misses.

Lava Launcher in the second position as it had a strong 3 ranged damage as well as a close-range. It also has an ample shield which should take a decent amount of hits making it a great secondary tank.

Finally, the fire web-slinging, not so friendly neighborhood Lava Spider! With its 2 ranged damage but more importantly Snipe ability, it can take out those weaker monsters within the backline that would be ignored by Lava Launcher.

When I saw Owsters lineup I was worried. He was a higher-level summoner with monsters more attuned to his level! Twisted Jester is merciless, spellsmith is dastardly, chaos agent as a decoy, and Weirding Warrior was perfect to crush all my shields! Not to mention, Lord Arianthus with all of those resistances and punishing counters. Thankfully, I went with ranged so his counters didn't work but those resistances were tough to get through. If it weren't thanks to Lava Spider's snipe ability chipping down the backline, this would have ended quickly.

Questions from Splinterlands:

Did your strategy work? It worked but it was risky. Playing Tarsa with ranged monsters already does not synergize 100% and so to use her was a risk. The HP gave and the beefy frontline did play in my favor, even though Weirding Warrior could still break my shields.

What will you try differently next time? I think if I were to use Lava Spider again, it would be in instances where I know it is going to be a low mana game where the likelihood of squishy monsters is in my favor.

Do you like the LAVA SPIDER? Why or why not? I love Lava Spider! I think it is an exceptional archer for such little cost, in addition to its high health too! Unbelievable! This spider definitely earned its hardy HP through eating up all those who stumble upon its web!
