How to Counter Noxious Fumes in Splinterlands || Campaign Chapter 10 (Modifiers)

In Splinterlands, campaign mode is one of the best thing to learn about the game mechanics. It teaches us about battle rules, monster selections, its best positioning, modifiers and many more.
I usually explore one chapter every week so that Splinterlands players who are still unfamiliar with certain game rules and strategies can learn them more easily. In previous chapters I discussed Mana and Elements and you can find those topics in my earlier blogs.
Today I explored Chapter 10 called Modifiers. As I often do when reviewing monsters I usually discuss their stats and abilities. However before entering a battle it is equally important to understand modifiers.
Modifiers are special conditions that can limit your cards, remove abilities, damage units or create specific rules that affect your strategy. There are three modifiers which depends upon your gameplay, if you are advance you will face 3 of these modifiers otherwise the beginning levels will have no or 1 modifiers.
Understanding these modifiers is what makes Splinterlands battles more challenging and interesting. Almost 50% of the win chance comes after you undersands the rulesets properly.

By learning the rulesets you can decide which monsters are best suited for a battle. For example you may need to determine whether armor is important whether ranged or melee attackers are allowed or which abilities will be most effective. Modifiers have a strong influence on the outcome of a battle so you must choose your cards carefully and build a strategy around them.
This chapter explains modifiers in detail and also provides a practice battle. In my practice battle the ruleset included Noxious Fumes which applies poison damage to all units every round... All Units health will be reduced by -2 every round.

To start the chapter simply you need to log into your Splinterlands account and open the Campaign section.. From there simply select the chapter you want to explore. Since I wanted to learn about modifiers I clicked on Chapter 10 and continued to the practice battle..
The battle had a 39 Mana cap and only one modifier that is Noxious Fumes. Under this ruleset every monster loses 2 health points from poison damage at the start of each round. There were no second or third modifiers in this battle.
After entering the arena I was able to select my monsters. Since Noxious Fumes continuously reduces health I focused on choosing monsters with strong health and armor. Not only do they take poison damage every round but they also receive damage from enemy attacks.

Because of this low-health monsters are usually a poor choice in battles with Noxious Fumes as they are eliminated very quickly.
After selecting my monsters I started the battle. My monsters performed very well, survived for several rounds and secured the victory. This victory was because of understanding the modifier and also the proper selection of cards.
Completing the campaign chapter rewarded me with three monster cards named as Frostguard Warrior, Colossus Raider and Scales of Justice.. These cards are added to your collection and can be used in future battles..

Campaign Mode is a great feature because it allows players to learn game mechanics while also earning useful rewards.. That is why it is very important for every Splinterlands player to explore these campaigns.
