Are You Not Entertained Modifier In Focus

Are You Not Entertained Modifier is a very exciting Modifier because it allows Gladiator units to join the battle. By adding another wave of unique units, the game gets more complicated. Gladiator units are already strong because of Bloodlust which gives them more stats every time they get a kill. With this modifier, you can build a team around one strong Gladiator and let it snowball if you wanted to. The battle can quickly turn one sided if a Gladiator starts stacking early. At the same time, just because you have a Gladiator unit, it doesn't mean you will automatically win the game.

Modifiers

Are You Not Entertained - Players may play one additional Gladiator Card per battle.

  • This modifier allows the use of Gladiator units, a set of units that you can only get from joining guilds. The Merits that you can sometimes get from reward chests are used in order to get packs that has the Gladiator units. In this battle, I don't have Gladiators so this modifier doesn't really help me but it is interesting that even if I don't and my enemy has one, it still wasn't enough for them to defeat my lineup.

5 Combos You Can Do with Are You Not Entertained Modifier

ModifierNameDescription
Last StandGains increased stats if it's the only Unit on the team alive
- Gladiators usually have Bloodlust ability that gains stacks as they get kills. With Last Stand, those stacks can be increased by half if they are the last ones in the battle.
HealRestores a portion of the Unit's health each round
- Adding Heal to Gladiator units can make the battle really easy. With the Gladiators stacking health as they kill enemies, they also gets higher heal over time. Avina of the Wolf can easily give you this combo and some of the Gladiators like Quora Towershead already have this in their abilities.
SnipeTargets enemy Units with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that are not in the first position
- I saw some Gladiators like Captain Katie that has Snipe so adding other units with Snipe can make a Snipe-based strategy. She has magic damage as well making this strategy a lot stronger. With a couple of Snipes, this can be a scary setup to overcome your enemies especially if they have strong tanks.
BlastDoes additional damage to Units adjacent to the target Unit
- Blast deals damage to units beside your main target. This is a strong ability with Gladiators because of the Bloodlust ability. Bloodlust can still get stack if the units died from Blast and not the attack itself. Blast gives them more ammunition and utility to kill the enemies more efficiently. Some Gladiators like Katrelba Gobson can be extremely efficient with this because not only she has Bloodlust but also Double Strike which both works with Blast.
DispelWhen this Unit hit an enemy, it clears all positive status effects on that enemy
- I haven't tried this but I think you can counter Gladiators and their Bloodlust by using Dispel. Since you can use Dispel to cancel out other similar abilities like Bloodline Tribute, then I can imagine that it would also work on Bloodlust

Battle Breakdown

Early Game:
At first look, I was very scared about the enemy lineup. They have good amount of damage, both to the frontline and the Sneak. I was sure I would lose this battle if I am going to be honest. Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut with 20 health with Avina of the Wolf's Heal means he Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut gets around 6-7 health every round which is very high. While protecting the team, they have the Gladiator, Marisol Contuma attacking with insane 5 melee damage, Janni Rebel increasing damage of their team with Inspire and Nephket with its dual attack and Sneak and Stun. This is a very formidable team. I was really happy I still have my Captain Frankie on this battle since I was able to use high damage units myself to counter Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut's heals because of my stacking Inspire. Unfortunately, I forgot to add Piercing and True Strike to my units so I just made my situation worse. For now, let's see how the battle goes.

Mid Game:
After the first round, Janni Rebel dies from the enemy attacks. I got them back with Echelon hitting their Nephket with a solid 6 melee damage to kill them. Each time my units die, my attacks get weaker since everyone has Inspire on my units. While the battle continues, I got a lucky setup where Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut's health went down to 8. From my past experiences, when all units have the same health, units with Opportunity prioritizes the unit in the front similar to when they have multiple Taunt abilities. This is important because that means the two units that I have with Opportunity will now target Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut and potentially kill it so he wouldn't heal every round. But that didn't happen because Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut just had its round first before my units with Opportunity so after he healed, the targeting now changed to Marisol Contuma which is still good because that's their unit with the highest damage. Still, it would've been the best if Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut was he one that was targeted.

Late Game:
With my two tanks dying, my lineup collapses so it's now a race on killing the enemies. I do have a healer but the heal is not going to be enough to contain the damage unless I finish the first two units of the enemies. I was able to manage that by the start of round 4 which secured my win. The death of my Saltwraith Bulkhead really made me scared as I thought Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut and Marisol Contuma will start slaughtering my team.

Closing Thoughts

Are You Not Entertained Modifier is all about Gladiators being able to use them in Ranked games and not just Brawl. With Gladiators all having Bloodlust, the stacking every time they units can become very hard to stop. Abilities that increases the stats further or change the targetting make them even more deadly while Dispel offers a possible counter. If you protect your Gladiators and help it secure early kills, the battle can quickly go in your favor. While the Gladiators are surely strong units, don't get cocky and overconfident by having them. They can give you advantages but having a Gladiator on your team doesn't secure your wins.

"Wow, that early game sounds intense! 😲 How did you manage to handle Dar 'Gottem' Gearnut’s crazy heals without Piercing and True Strike? Your strategy with Captain Frankie sounds smart—love how you turned the tide despite the tough lineup!"
