Re-evaluating my Hive game assets.

I've decided to take a look at my packs of cards being held on Hive dApps. Why would I buy them just to hold onto them? Well, many reasons.

Splinterlands:

My current packs held

I held onto card packs for the SPS airdrop points but now that the air drop is over I am still holding onto them. For what purpose? The amount of packs needed to actually turn a feasible profit for the time waited is more than what I currently possess.

True, there are a limited amount of card packs but it seems foolish to hold onto so few when there are still so many more on the market and to purchase.

dCrops:

Current held packs

dCrops is a little different. The FAQ says I earn points for holding Alpha edition Card packs so there's a reason but I haven't seen anything about holding Beta edition Card packs so maybe I am trying to double dip to no avail.

The system behind dCrops is fun and I do want to open more packs so again, why am I holding onto so few? I feel like once again I am being foolish for holding onto so few when I could use whatever cards are inside to actually play the game.

Exode:

Current held packs

I bought Exode card packs when the supply was close to running out and held onto them because I thought it would sell for so much once people got Fear of Missing out.

Now though the idea seems foolish, but after doing research in Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, and NFTs and hearing what people thought about NFTs and 'Scarcity' and hearing that a supply of packs for a game was running out it sounded like I had a prime spot!

I think maybe I got caught up in the rush of recently learning about NFTs and being a new comer to Hive that I never saw the true reason for Blockchain.

I bought card packs in all three games because I was interested in the game but the thought that I could get profit from holding onto items and selling at a later date sounded too good to pass up, time was moving forward anyway so what did I have to lose?

My realization:

Well other than time wasted looking at supply and the market and HBD/HIVE spent on virtual card packs that I deemed 'Precious', nothing. But I haven't really gained anything either.

This image is the point I am making about my situation. It seems silly to wait for an emergency or opportunity to capitalize on an item when I already have it in my possession and it was designed for use.

So I have come to the understanding that I am no longer going to hoard card packs for 'Possible Rewards' when I could use the cards inside and earn 'Definite Rewards' for playing the game.

I feel having an evaluation of blockchain assets is important and encourage others to try it, as I had no idea what I actually held on the blockchain. I thought I had more packs in other games, (Hence the 4th slot which I had to fill).

It's going to be good to be able to just play a dApp.

Thank you for reading and I hope you use your Blockchain assets wisely!
