This is part 3 of a 3 part series that I am putting together to discuss the different ways that you can earn crypto with Splinterlands. If you haven't seen it yet, please stop by and read Parts 1 and 2 (link below).

Part 1: https://peakd.com/hive-184309/@atbui89/ultimate-guide-on-earning-crypto-with-splinterlands--part-1-of-3
Part 2: https://peakd.com/hive-184309/@atbui89/ultimate-guide-on-earning-crypto-with-splinterlands--part-2-of-3

So far in this 3 part series, I've covered many different ways to play (actively or passively) in order to earn. Those methods are:

  • Actively battling (ranked play, tournaments, climbing the leaderboards)
  • Daily and end of season reward chests
  • Investing, staking, and daily SPS airdrops
  • Liquidity pools
  • Renting out your collection

In this part, we'll be discussing other options that may or may not be directly related to Splinterlands but are excellent ways to earn.

So what else can I do to earn some crypto?

  • Trade Assets (cards, packs, vouchers, etc..)
  • Blog and create content
  • Participate in the community
  • Use the Brave Browser

Trading Assets

In the Splinterlands universe, you have a diverse economy with many assets that can provide you with opportunities to grow your portfolio.

  • Cards/NFTs
  • Card packs
  • Vouchers
  • Land
  • Cryptocurrencies (SPS, DEC)

Each of these assets can be purchased (or rewarded in some cases) and sold on 3rd party exchanges. Tribaldex is a major one for non-card assets that has great liquidity.

Trading Cards

In Splinterlands, you can buy and sell cards with DEC. If you have a good feel for the card market, you can earn just by buying cards you feel are undervalued and selling them when you feel they are overvalued, just like you would any other equity. The other option is to simply buy and hodl!

Splintercards has a couple of tools that help you find potentially underpriced cards. There are the "Low Prices Gap" and "List Price Analysis" tools.

Low Prices Gap Tool : https://www.splintercards.com/tool-card-bcx.html?sp=2

This tool will tell you the difference between the Lowest BCX card and the Lowest Single BCX card. When analyzing card prices, you can see in the example that there is a Baakjira with a BCX that is 26.9% lower than the single BCX card you can purchase.

image.png

Let's dive into the Baakjira in PeakMonsters. As you can see, there is a Level 3 (6 BCX) Baakjira listed for $12.639/BCX or $75.833 total. The next single BCX card is $17.29. If the Level 3 card was listed for the single BCX price of $17.29, it would be worth $103.74!

Obviously, it isn't as simple as that.

The issue with this example is that there are 4 other listings in between the Low BCX card and the cheapest individual card so in my opinion, this is not a good opportunity for a quick flip. However, you can definitely buy it and hold to potentially sell it for the single BCX price down the road. I would prefer to see less supply between me and the next card.

image.png

Here's an example with a better opportunity. The low BCX Torrent Fiend is $5.427/BCX for an 11 BCX card or $59.70 total. The next card is $6.567/BCX which is 20% higher. You could potentially buy the Low BCX card and relist it for $6.4/BCX or a total of $70.4. Purchase this card with MonsterMarket and get 3% back and you can make about 15% with this trade! Not bad!

I tend to lean towards Legendary cards or Gold Foil editions because there is generally less competition (lower available cards). Also, I like to make sure the card is actually useful. If it's a highly used and sought after card, you'll have a much easier time finding a buyer.

List Price Analysis Tool : https://www.splintercards.com/tool-market.html

This the List Price Analysis tool and it will help you determine where a card's current price is relative to some time in the past.

Take a look again at Baakjira. In one week, the value has increased 42%! This might give you some pause on that deal from earlier since this card's price is possibly inflated in the short term. You have to remember that Chaos Legion cards are still being supplied through packs so large price appreciation isn't expected until they sell out. No guarantees though, just something to keep in mind.

Even if you don't plan to flip, this is an excellent tool for helping you snag some cards for good prices!

SplinterAlert

SplinterAlert : https://splinteralert.com/tables

SplinterAlert is similar to the Low Price Gap except it is looking at the lowest priced BCX against the next card, regardless of BCX. In the example above, you can buy a 12 BCX Evangelist for $40 if listed at the next card's BCX price, it would be worth about $44 ($3.66/BCX).

This is an excellent tool for quick flipping especially because you can set your parameters and get a sound alert when a new card pops up on the market. You can also purchase though the website if you link your wallet. It supports Credit and DEC purchases.

Although it's a great tool for snagging quick "underpriced" cards, you might want to take a peak at the card's market before making a purchase. What you don't know with this tool is the BCX of the next card. It could be 1, it could be 60. You'll have to dig deeper into the market for any cards that are more than 1 BCX.

Like our Low BCX example, you don't want to have too much supply between your purchase price and your new listing price.

Trading Card Packs, Vouchers, and Land

image.png

With these 3 assets, you'll need to transfer them to your Hive wallet and visit an exchange such as Tribaldex in order to trade.

These are listed in USD but are traded for SWAP.HIVE. In the example above, you can buy a Chaos Legion Booster Pack for $3 which is $1 less than the Splinterlands store. You DO NOT get the airdrop points but it is otherwise identical to purchasing from the store. It will still count towards your airdrops points as well.

Sourced from Splintercards homepage : https://www.splintercards.com/index.html

Many people are buying packs and holding them for a potential gain once they sell out. As you can see, of the 8 million packs sold, about 4 million are opened and 4 million as unopened.

You can also see the price of vouchers which is $0.98. At the beginning the of Chaos Legion Presale, vouchers were upwards of $16/ea! Vouchers are required for other purchases in the future so it's possible we see a price appreciation with them as well.

Land plots are another asset that you can trade in Tribaldex. Although there isn't any utility at the moment, the Splinterlands team is working on it and land could potentially be worth much more depending on what their use will be.

Blogging on Hive

image.png

Although not necessarily part of Splinterlands, you can earn Hive by blogging. PeakD, Splintertalk, and Hive-blog are a few places where you can make a post and the community can upvote the post which rewards you with Hive.

Although earning Hive through blogging isn't Splinterlands specific, the official Splinterlands account runs weekly battle and social media challenges that offer excellent rewards.

I highly recommend for you to at least check out the Splinterlands main account and participate in the weekly challenges.

Also, check out the #THGaming community. @jim-crypto has done an amazing job with the community and gives out rewards for competitions and being active in the community.

Even if you don't play the game, you can blog about anything and earn Hive through upvotes.

Participating in the Community

image.png

Streamers such as @Bulldog1205 and @luke-wtp (and many, many more) can be found on Youtube and Twitch where they do giveaways. Not only is it a good chance to win some free cards or packs, but they are both extremely knowledgeable about the game.

If you're new to the game, I highly recommend you checking them out to learn how the game works as well as battling and deck building strategy.

Earning with the Brave Browser

image.png

This last point isn't game specific at all but you can earn BAT (Basic Attention Tokens) for simply using the Brave Browser and enabling the pop-up ads.

It's very similar to the Chrome web browser but with more privacy settings if you're concerned.

I currently have my ads set to the max (10 ads per hour) and receive between 8-10 BAT a month to my Uphold account. At $0.90/BAT, you can buy 2 Chaos Legion packs or a lot of common cards! Not bad for getting a small pop-up throughout the day.

You'll need to trade your BAT for something like BCH in order to send it to your Hive wallet but it isn't too difficult.

Final Thoughts

I hope you enjoyed this 3 part series on earning crypto with Splinterlands. There's something for every type of player and hopefully as the game grows, so does your portfolio.
