Splinterlands Art Contest

Hiiii~ ^^
Here’s my drawing for the Splinterlands Art Contest. This time I chose to draw “Silvershield Bard”.

I’ve been thinking about what her sketch should be like, at first I knew I wanted a cute version of her since she’s wearing a pink hat and dress so drawing her cute would be a good choice. So, first I had to give her a baby face and then draw a hand under her chin as she was trying to make some cute expression too. Happy that now I can include hands in my portraits. Back then it was quite hard for me to draw them. As you can see I’m not quite good at it but I made a little progress 😄
Her face is very pale so I thought some tint on her cheeks makes her cuter.

In one of my posts, I explained how I color skins using a white pencil. There are other ways obviously, but sometimes I don’t blend colors and just try to color with a sharp pencil and keep coloring so there won’t be any tiny non-colored spots. Sometimes we can also use a lighter color to blend them - it doesn’t have to be a white pencil. Sometimes using a white pencil is a bad idea especially if we are drawing darker skin tones.
Drawing her skin was so so fun because I used multiple colors. Normally I use 2-3 colors for skin tones but for this one, I used around 7 colors.

I used a white pen to create the highlights in her eyes and a paper cutter for drawing some hair strands
