Splinterlands — Don't try to use Taunts units in the Ferocity ruleset
Welcome everyone👋, I'm back again with a new post for the Splinterlands BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!
What is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is an online collectible card game using blockchain technology. Every card in the game is owned as a non-fungible token (NFT) and is traded using similar features to cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. If you’ve ever played collectible trading card games like Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh!, you’ll find a similar experience, but through a web browser and blockchain wallet.
Ferocity
This week, the ruleset we have to present for this challenge is the Ferocity ruleset, which is very simple to understand: all monsters will gain the Fury ability at the start of the battle, dealing double damage to monsters that have the Taunt ability (all enemy monsters target this monster, if they are able to), so there are no tricks here other than dispensing with said monsters with this ruleset present.
The Fury ability was added when the Riftwatchers expansion made its debut.
For now, there is no Summoner that gives units the Fury ability, nor any Dragon elemental monster with this ability on its own.
Vettev VS Cavantes
Healed Out | What Doesn't Kill You | Ferocity |
---|---|---|
All healing abilities are removed from monsters and summoners. | All monsters have the Enrage ability at the start of the battle. | All monsters have the Fury ability. |
The first player Vettev, plays Akane as his summoner, allowing him to choose between giving the Lookout ability to two monsters or the Ambush ability to two monsters.
-In the frontline position he plays with Silverblade Fighter, who has the Flank ability allowing its ally who is in the second position to obtain the Reach ability ( can attack from the second position), it also has the Void Armor ability which allows magic attacks against it to hit its armor before its health, and the Protect ability which gives all allies +2 armor.
-In the second position is Mantaroth, who is a powerful monster that has 5 abilities: Shield (will take reduced damage from melee and ranged attacks by 50%), Armored Strike ( will gain an additional melee attack using its armor stat), True Strike (will always hit its target), Repair ( will restore a third of max armor to the friendly ally whose armor has taken the most damage), and the Blast ability that will deal half damage (rounded up) to units adjacent to this card's target.
-In third position is Kei, who also has 5 abilities: Reach ( being able to attack from the second position), Ambush ( will attack if able before the battle begins), True Strike,
Shatter ( when it attacks it will destroy the enemy's armor) and being the only unit in the game currently that has the Enfeeble ability, which causes each successful attack it makes to reduce the defender's Melee attack by 1.
-In fourth position is Adelade Brightwing, who has the Flying ability (has a 25% chance to evade melee or ranged attacks from non-flying monsters), Repair, Resurrect ( when a friendly unit dies, it is brought back to life with 1 health, once per battle), Immunity to negative status effects, and the Swiftness ability that grants all its allies +1 Speed.
-In fifth position, place Time Mage, which will Slow the enemies by -1. Additionally, it will reduce enemies' armor by -2 with the Rust ability.
-And in the last position is Venka the Vile, being the only one currently in the game who has the Charge ability allowing it to attack from any position with its melee attack, it also has the Piercing ability, the Oppress ability ( does double damage to monsters that have no attacks) and the Trample ability that if this monster is able to destroy an enemy it will make another attack to the next creature on the enemy team.
On the next side we have Cavantes, who plays Lily Shieldpaw as his summoner, better known as the Red Panda who will give Health to its monsters, will also give them the
Camouflage (cannot be directly target by attacks unless it's in the first position) ability, and will heal the rearguard ally who has received the most damage in the previous round, at the start of each round with its Triage ability.
-Grimbardun Smith is in the frontline position, a recurrent unit in modern battles that receives reduced damage from all types of attacks by 50% thanks to having the Void and Shield ability, it also has Immunity to negative status effects and the Repair ability.
-Rage in the second position, currently the high mana cost card in the game (16 mana), this great Dragon has 5 abilities : the Flying ability, the Void ability (will take reduced damage from magic attacks by 50%), the Life Leech ability ( will increase its health each time it damages an enemy unit's health by half the damage dealt), and will have a 50% chance to apply Affliction to its target, causing it to be unable to be healed. Additionally, it will give +3 magic attack to its adjacent allies with no attack thanks to its Weapons Training ability.
-Runeseer Sevaya in the third position, which will Cleanse its ally who is in the first position, also grants +2 armor to all its allies, and will Repair one ally's armor each turn. Additionally, it will apply Blind to melee and ranged enemies, causing them a 15% chance to miss its attacks.
-Baron Fyatt in the fourth position, the newly promo card that can be purchased right now in the Splinterlands shop. Attacks an enemy randomly each turn, will also perform an attack before the battle begins thanks to having the Ambush ability, and will also cause Blind to enemies. Additionally, it has the special ability: Halving , which causes the first time this unit hits a target, that target's attack is cut in half (rounded down).
-Venka the Vile in the fifth position, who will bring chaos to the enemies with its powerful attack and being the only monster in the battle that will fight for both sides.
-And in the last position Doctor Blight, an incredible card that only costs 4 mana and has 5 abilities: Affliction, Camouflage , Poison ( will have a 50% chance to apply Poison to the enemy it attack) , Scavenger (every time a unit dies, it will gain +1 max health) and Weaken ( will reduce the enemies unit's health by 1).
-Vettev Team:
- Everyone gets +2 armor from the Silverblade Fighter's Protected ability.
- Everyone gets +1 Speed from the Adelade Brightwing's Swiftness ability.
- Everyone gets the Blind ability due to the enemies Runeseer Sevaya and Baron Fyatt.
- Everyone lost -1 Health due to the enemy Doctor Blight Weaken's ability.
-Cavantes Team:
- Everyone gets +2 armor from Runeseer Sevaya Protected's ability what they lost -2 armor due to the enemy Time Mage's Rust ability.
- Everyone lost -1 speed due to the enemy Time Mage's Slow ability.
- Grimbardun Smith and Runeseer Sevaya gain +3 magic attack thanks to Rage's Weapons Training ability.
Round 1:
-Venka the Vile (Vettev) destroys enemy☠️Grimbardun Smith.
-Venka the Vile (Cavantes) defeats enemy☠️Silverblade Fighter, who is resurrected by Adelade Brightwing.
-☠️Runeseer Sevaya is destroyed by Mantaroth's Blast ability.
Round 2:
-☠️Silverblade Fighter is eliminated this time by Doctor Blight's application of Poison in the previous round.
-Venka the Vile (Vettev) destroys enemy ☠️Rage.
-Time Mage destroys ☠️Baron Fyatt.
-Mantaroth destroys ☠️Venka the Vile (Cavantes).
Round 3:
-Finally, Time Mage ends the battle by destroying ☠️Doctor Blight.
Both players knew that using any monster with the Taunt ability would give them disadvantage and they didn't use any, so unfortunately the Ferocity ruleset had no effect.
This battle ended quickly, it only lasted 3 rounds, it was an incredible combat, all the monsters did a wonderful job, but this time Vettet's units were stronger by taking advantage of the Ambush ability destroying the enemy main tank monster very easily, without it the Dragon could not resist the incoming attacks and its other allies were destroyed.
The Vettev team emerges victorious with only one defeat.
MVP
Mantaroth with a double kill and for dealing the most damage.
