Splinterlands Weekly Challenge - Close Range Ruleset
Hello everyone, I'm back with a new post for the Splinterlands Weekly Challenge.
The topic of the week is the Close Range ruleset, let's get into it:
A nightmare of a ranged monster is when it's on the front row and can't attack, but the Close Range ruleset fixes this problem :)

In this battle, the following rulesets are active:

| All Monsters have the Cripple ability. | One additional Gladiator card may be used in battles. | Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles. |

 | Thorns | Mylor Crowling. One of the greatest summoners of the Dice edition. In case my opponent wants to use Melee monsters, they will take damage thanks to the Thorns ability that Mylor gives to all my monsters. |

 | Void | Unicorn Mustang. This unicorn has great stats: 3 Damage, 4 Speed, 11 HP and also has the Void ability which allows it to take less damage from magical attacks. |
 | Strengthen | Epona. It only costs 1 mana. Although it doesn't have any type of attack, its ability that increases the HP of all my monsters by +1 is more than enough. |
 | Tank Heal | Goblin Psychic. This goblin will heal my monster in the front row preventing it from dying quickly. |
 | Close Range | Beatrix Ironhand. One of the ranged monsters I use the most, it already has the Close Range ability on its own that allows it to attack in first position. |
 | Bloodlust and Opportunity | Bertrol Gobson. Thanks to the Are You Not Entertained ruleset, I'm able to play one of the Gladiator cards that are famous for their Bloodlust ability that gives them +1 to all stats if they defeat a monster. This goblin also has the Opportunity ability that allows it to attack weaker enemy monsters. |
 | Snare | Mitica Headhunter. In last position a powerful big headed monster that at level 1 deals 4 damage and in case all my other monsters are defeated it will still be able to attack thanks to the Close Range ruleset. |
Battlefield
My opponent and I use the same summoner: Mylor Crowling, so all monsters get the Thorns ability.
My monsters gain +1 HP thanks to Epona's Strengthen ability.
Round 1
-Starting the battle, Mitica Headhunter destroys Fungus Flinger who, upon death, activates its Martyr ability giving +1 to all stats to its friendly ally: Quora.
-Some monsters were damaged, but no one else was defeated this turn.
Round 2
-Beatrix Ironhand destroys Quora Towershead.
-Unicorn Mustang defeats Acid Shooter but is also destroyed by the damage from Thorns ability.
-Bertrol Gobson attacks the enemy Goblin Psychic and is destroyed by Thorns.
Round 3
-Iza the Fanged eliminates Epona gaining +1 max HP thanks to her Scavenger ability, which for now has gained a total of 6 HP.
Round 4
-Mitica Headhunter destroys Iza the Fanged with its great harpoon.
-Beatrix Ironhand defeats the enemy Goblin Psychic quickly.
-My Goblin Psychic is destroyed by Hunter Jarx.
Round 5
-Finally, Beatrix ends the battle by destroying Hunter Jarx with a deadly ranged attack.

Conclusion:
The Close Range ruleset favors Ranged Monsters, allowing them to attack on the front row, but we're not forced to play them, with more rulesets like 
Keep Your Distance or 
Going the Distance, ranged monsters can lead the battle.
Knowing that the opponent might use Gladiator: Quora, I chose a big tank monster on the front line, a healer, and two ranged monsters that deal a lot of damage before Quora gets too strong to kill my monsters.
