Splinterlands Weekly Challenge — Explosive Weaponry Ruleset
Welcome everyone👋, I'm back with a new post for the Splinterlands Weekly Challenge!
In this opportunity, I will show you a battle with the chaotic Explosive Weaponry ruleset, but before that, let's take a look at some details and how we can take advantage of it:
Explosive Weaponry: |
---|
All Monsters have the Blast ability. |
This Explosive Weaponry is one of the most offensive rulesets, as it gives all monsters on the battlefield the Blast ability, allowing them to deal additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster (Additional damage is equivalent to main damage divided by 2, rounded up)
Defensive abilities:
Monsters with the Reflection Shield ability are immune to reflected damage, so they won't take damage from the Blast ability.
Monsters with the Divine Shield ability ignore the first damage they take.
With the Protect ability, your monsters gain +2 armor (can stack).
If you want to protect your weaker monsters, you can use a monster with the Taunt ability since enemy monsters will prioritize attacking it first. Be careful with units that have the Fury ability as they do double damage to monsters with the Taunt ability.
Depending on the other rulesets and/or analyzing what kind of monsters the opponent might use, you can play with Demoralize, Headwinds and/or Silence abilities which are good for reducing the attack damage of enemy monsters.
As always, except when the Healed Out ruleset and/or the Affliction ability are in play, the Heal, Tank Heal, and Triage abilities will be useful for restoring the health of allied monsters that have taken damage.
Offensive abilities:
With the Scattershot ability, monsters will randomly attack enemy targets dealing heavy damage and ignore the Taunt ability.
The Opportunity ability is a great combination with this ruleset, as monsters will attack the enemy with the lowest Health and deal additional damage to adjacent monsters. But be careful as the opponent can use Martyr monsters to take advantage of this.
Also, if the Equal Opportunity ruleset is in play, you can use monsters with the Bloodlust ability, as it makes it easier for them to attack the weaker monster and they can destroy 2 or more monsters with the Blast ability , and upon defeating it, they receive +1 to all stats. Monsters with the Double Strike ability are also a very good option, as they will deal considerable damage to the enemy lines.
Curiosities
At the moment the only summoner that gives the Blast ability is:
There are many monsters that have the Blast ability:

The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed. | All Monsters at the start of the battle have the Blast ability. |
ILTHAIN
Mana: 4 | ★ Level: 2
Rarity: Epic | Edition: Riftwatchers
All friendly Monsters have +1 Speed.
All friendly Monsters receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle.
In this battle I decided to use this life summoner, so my units can gain +1 Speed and maybe they can attack first than my oponnent's monsters. It also gives its friendly allies the Return Fire ability, which allows them to return reduced damage back to the attacker if it is a ranged attack (damage returned is equal to damage of attacker divided by 2, rounded up).
CHAOS KNIGHT
Mana: 6 | ★ Level: 3 | Speed: 3
Melee: 3 | Health: 4 | Armor: 3
Rarity: Common | Edition: Chaos
In first position, this knight will be my main tank monster, it will try to withstand the attacks of the enemies. It has the Shield ability that reduces damage taken from melee and ranged attacks.
PELACOR CONJURER
Mana: 2 | ★ Level: 3
Speed: 4 | Health: 5
Rarity:Common | Edition: ChaosReward
In second position, I use this conjurer that will receive the additional damage from the Blast ability after the enemy attacks my frontline unit. Although it cannot attack its a great card that for only 2 mana has 5 HP. It also has the Flying ability which gives it a 25% chance to evade some attacks from non-flying monsters.
SILVERSHIELD ASSASSIN
Mana: 7 | ★ Level: 3 | Speed: 3
Melee: 2 | Health: 5 | Armor: 1
Rarity: Rare | Edition: BetaReward
In third position, this assassin will be my first
Sneak monster on the battlefield that will attack the enemies that are in the last position. It can also attack 2 times each round thanks to its Double Strike ability.
CELESTIAL HARPY
Mana: 2 | ★ Level: 3
Melee: 2 | Speed: 2 | Health: 3
Rarity: Rare | Edition: Chaos
In fourth position, I wanted to use a Sneak monster for 2 mana, but there wasn't any, so I decide to use this harpy that will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health thanks to her
Opportunity ability. It also has the Flying ability.
STITCH LEECH
Mana: 3 | ★ Level: 3
Melee: 2 | Speed: 2 | Health: 4
Rarity: Common | Edition: Chaos
In fifth position, this leech monster is one of the life chaos cards I use the most. It will attack the enemies that are in the last position thanks to its Sneak ability.
URAEUS
Mana: 3 | ★ Level: 2 | Speed: 2
Melee: 2 | Health: 2 | Armor: 1
Rarity: Epic | Edition: ChaosReward
In last position, this Sneak monster is one of my favorite reward cards because it can be used in almost any battle thanks to being neutral. It's in the last row only because it has 1 armor which will require at least 2 attacks to defeat it. It's not the best choice for this task, but I trust my enemy won't use too many Sneak monsters.
All enemy monsters gain Ranged Attack, Speed, and Health thanks to Prince Rennyn ability.
All my monsters have Speed and the Fire Regret ability thanks to Ilthain.
My monsters lose -1 Speed from Creeping Ooze and -1 Health from Swamp Thing.
Round 1:
☠️Pelacor Conjurer is defeated by Enemy☠️Child of the Forest, and it is destroyed by the Return Fire ability.
__________ Enemy Centaur destroys ☠️Silvershield Assassin.
__________ Celestial Harpy defeats ☠️Creeping Ooze.
Round 2:
☠️Celestial Harpy is destroyed by Enemy☠️Spirit of the Forest, and it is defeated by the Return Fire.
__________ ☠️Chaos Knight is killed by Enemy☠️Centaur, which is also destroyed by Return Fire.
__________ Enemy☠️Swamp Thing defeats ☠️Stitch Leech, and it is also destroyed by Return Fire.
Round 3-4:
Uraeus ends the battle by destroying Enemy☠️Failed Summoner with a deadly attack.
MVP
Ilthain for giving the Return Fire ability
CONCLUSION
Due to the Explosive Weaponry ruleset, all the monsters had the Blast ability and did a lot of damage, for this reason this battle ended very quickly.
The Return Fire ability that Ilthain gave to my monsters was crucial, without this ability I would have lost.
It was a very close battle, Uraeus managed to survive thanks to his armor and gave my team victory.
