Splinterlands Weekly Challenge — Explosive Weaponry Ruleset

Welcome everyone👋, I'm back with a new post for the Splinterlands Weekly Challenge!

In this opportunity, I will show you a battle with the chaotic Explosive Weaponry ruleset, but before that, let's take a look at some details and how we can take advantage of it:

Exp2.png

Explosive Weaponry:
All Monsters have the Blast ability.

This Explosive Weaponry is one of the most offensive rulesets, as it gives all monsters on the battlefield the Blast ability, allowing them to deal additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster (Additional damage is equivalent to main damage divided by 2, rounded up)

Defensive abilities:

Monsters with the 30x30 reflect.png Reflection Shield ability are immune to reflected damage, so they won't take damage from the Blast ability.

Monsters with the 30x30 divine shield.png Divine Shield ability ignore the first damage they take.
With the 30x30 protect.png Protect ability, your monsters gain +2 armor (can stack).

If you want to protect your weaker monsters, you can use a monster with the 30x30 taunt.png Taunt ability since enemy monsters will prioritize attacking it first. Be careful with units that have the 30x30 fury.png Fury ability as they do double damage to monsters with the Taunt ability.

Depending on the other rulesets and/or analyzing what kind of monsters the opponent might use, you can play with 30x30 demoralize.png Demoralize, 30x30 headwinds.png Headwinds and/or 30x30 silence.png Silence abilities which are good for reducing the attack damage of enemy monsters.

As always, except when the 30x30 healedOut.png Healed Out ruleset and/or the 30x30 affliction.png Affliction ability are in play, the 30x30 Heal.png Heal, 30x30 tank heal.png Tank Heal, and 30x30 triage.png Triage abilities will be useful for restoring the health of allied monsters that have taken damage.

Offensive abilities:

With the 30x30 scattershot.png Scattershot ability, monsters will randomly attack enemy targets dealing heavy damage and ignore the 30x30 taunt.png Taunt ability.

The 30x30 opportunity.png Opportunity ability is a great combination with this ruleset, as monsters will attack the enemy with the lowest Health and deal additional damage to adjacent monsters. But be careful as the opponent can use 30x30 martyr.png Martyr monsters to take advantage of this.

Also, if the 30x30 EqOpport.png Equal Opportunity ruleset is in play, you can use monsters with the 30x30 bloodlust.png Bloodlust ability, as it makes it easier for them to attack the weaker monster and they can destroy 2 or more monsters with the Blast ability , and upon defeating it, they receive +1 to all stats. Monsters with the 30x30 doublestrike.png Double Strike ability are also a very good option, as they will deal considerable damage to the enemy lines.

Curiosities

At the moment the only summoner that gives the Blast ability is:

There are many monsters that have the Blast ability:

IlthainH.png

50x50 Life1.png ILTHAIN

25x25 Mana.png Mana: 4 | ★ Level: 2
Rarity: Epic 25x25 epic.png | Edition: Riftwatchers 25x25 Rift.png
35x35 +1 speed.png All friendly Monsters have +1 Speed.
35x35 returnF.png All friendly Monsters receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle.

In this battle I decided to use this life summoner, so my units can gain +1 Speed and maybe they can attack first than my oponnent's monsters. It also gives its friendly allies the Return Fire ability, which allows them to return reduced damage back to the attacker if it is a ranged attack (damage returned is equal to damage of attacker divided by 2, rounded up).

Chaos KnightA.png

50x50 Life1.png CHAOS KNIGHT

25x25 Mana.png Mana: 6 | ★ Level: 3 | 25x25 Speed.png Speed: 3
25x25 Melee attack.png Melee: 3 | 25x25 Health.png Health: 4
| 25x25 armor.png Armor: 3
Rarity: Common 25x25 common.png | Edition: Chaos 25x25 Chaos.png

In first position, this knight will be my main tank monster, it will try to withstand the attacks of the enemies. It has the 30x30 shield.png Shield ability that reduces damage taken from melee and ranged attacks.

Pelacor ConjurerD.png

50x50 Life1.png PELACOR CONJURER

25x25 Mana.png Mana: 2 | ★ Level: 3
25x25 Speed.png Speed: 4 | 25x25 Health.png Health: 5
Rarity:Common25x25 common.png | Edition: ChaosReward25x25 Chaos.png25x25 Reward.png

In second position, I use this conjurer that will receive the additional damage from the Blast ability after the enemy attacks my frontline unit. Although it cannot attack its a great card that for only 2 mana has 5 HP. It also has the 30x30 flying.png Flying ability which gives it a 25% chance to evade some attacks from non-flying monsters.

Silvershield AssassinB.png

50x50 Life1.png SILVERSHIELD ASSASSIN

25x25 Mana.png Mana: 7 | ★ Level: 3 | 25x25 Speed.png Speed: 3
25x25 Melee attack.png Melee: 2 | 25x25 Health.png Health: 5
| 25x25 armor.png Armor: 1
Rarity: Rare 25x25 rare.png | Edition: BetaReward 25x25 Beta.png25x25 Reward.png

In third position, this assassin will be my first
30x30 sneak.pngSneak monster on the battlefield that will attack the enemies that are in the last position. It can also attack 2 times each round thanks to its 30x30 doublestrike.png Double Strike ability.

Celestial HarpyA.png

50x50 Life1.png CELESTIAL HARPY

25x25 Mana.png Mana: 2 | ★ Level: 3
25x25 Melee attack.png Melee: 2 | 25x25 Speed.png Speed: 2 | 25x25 Health.png Health: 3
Rarity: Rare 25x25 rare.png | Edition: Chaos 25x25 Chaos.png

In fourth position, I wanted to use a Sneak monster for 2 mana, but there wasn't any, so I decide to use this harpy that will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health thanks to her
30x30 opportunity.png Opportunity ability. It also has the 30x30 flying.png Flying ability.

Stitch LeechA.png

50x50 Life1.png STITCH LEECH

25x25 Mana.png Mana: 3 | ★ Level: 3
25x25 Melee attack.png Melee: 2 | 25x25 Speed.png Speed: 2 | 25x25 Health.png Health: 4
Rarity: Common 25x25 common.png | Edition: Chaos 25x25 Chaos.png

In fifth position, this leech monster is one of the life chaos cards I use the most. It will attack the enemies that are in the last position thanks to its 30x30 sneak.pngSneak ability.

UraeusA.png

35x35 Neutral.png URAEUS

25x25 Mana.png Mana: 3 | ★ Level: 2 | 25x25 Speed.png Speed: 2
25x25 Melee attack.png Melee: 2 | 25x25 Health.png Health: 2
| 25x25 armor.png Armor: 1
Rarity: Epic 25x25 epic.png | Edition: ChaosReward25x25 Chaos.png25x25 Reward.png

In last position, this 30x30 sneak.pngSneak monster is one of my favorite reward cards because it can be used in almost any battle thanks to being neutral. It's in the last row only because it has 1 armor which will require at least 2 attacks to defeat it. It's not the best choice for this task, but I trust my enemy won't use too many Sneak monsters.

Ilthain for giving the Return Fire ability

CONCLUSION

Due to the Explosive Weaponry ruleset, all the monsters had the Blast ability and did a lot of damage, for this reason this battle ended very quickly.

The Return Fire ability that Ilthain gave to my monsters was crucial, without this ability I would have lost.

It was a very close battle, Uraeus managed to survive thanks to his armor and gave my team victory.
