Splinterlands Weekly Challenge 🏹 Fire & Regret Ruleset
Welcome everyone👋, I'm back with a new post for the Splinterlands Weekly Challenge!
In this opportunity, I will show you a battle with the Fire & Regret ruleset, but before that, let's take a look at some details and how we can take advantage of it:
Fire & Regret: |
---|
All Monsters have the Return Fire ability. |
When the Fire & Regret ruleset is active, we should try to avoid using ranged monsters, as they will take damaged every time they attack because all Monsters will have the Return Fire ability, which will return reduced damage back to its attacker if it is a ranged attack (damage returned is equal to damage of attacker divided by 2, rounded up).
Defensive abilities:
Monsters with the Reflection Shield ability are immune to all indirect, or reflected damage, so they won't take damage from the Return Fire ability.
Monsters with the Divine Shield ability ignore the first damage they take.
With the Protect ability, your monsters gain +2 armor (can stack).
If you want to protect your weaker monsters, you can use a monster with the Taunt ability since enemy monsters will prioritize attacking it first. Be careful with units that have the Fury ability as they do double damage to monsters with the Taunt ability.
Depending on the other rulesets and/or analyzing what kind of monsters the opponent might use, you can play with Demoralize, Headwinds and/or Silence abilities which are good for reducing the attack damage of enemy monsters.
As always, except when the Healed Out ruleset and/or the Affliction ability are in play, the Heal, Tank Heal, and Triage abilities will be useful for restoring the health of allied monsters that have taken damage.
Offensive abilities:
With the Amplify ability you can increase the damage of Return Fire ability to all enemy monsters by +1.
If the Equal Opportunity ruleset is in play, you can use monsters with the Martyr ability, who upon death, adjacent monsters will get +1 to all stats. Use among the martyr monsters, units with Bloodlust as it makes it easier for them to attack the weaker monster, and upon defeating it, they receive +1 to all stats. Monsters with the Double Strike ability are also a very good option, as they will deal heavy damage to the enemy lines.
Curiosities
At the moment there are 2 summoners that gives the Return Fire ability to allied monsters:
There are many monsters that have the Return Fire ability:
Fire | Water | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
Earth | Life | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Death | Dragon | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Neutral | |||
---|---|---|---|
Equal Opportunity | Fire & Regret | Going the Distance |
All Monsters have the Opportunity ability. | All Monsters have the Return Fire ability. | Only Monsters with Ranged attack may be used in battles. |
WIZARD OF EASTWOOD
Mana: 3 | ★ Level: 2
Rarity: Rare | Edition: Untamed
All enemy Monsters have -2 Armor
In this battle, I decide to use this earth elemental summoner only to use Fungus Flinger who has the Martyr ability, and because the Equal Opportunity is in play it will be easily defeated due to its low HP. Also, the ability of this summoner will reduce the armor of the enemies so my monsters can destroy them faster.
DRYBONE RAIDER
Mana: 12 | ★ Level: 1 | Speed: 2
Melee: 2 | Ranged: 1
Health: 7 | Armor: 3
Rarity: Legendary | Edition: ChaosR
In first position, this violent raider will attack twice each round thanks to its Double Strike ability. Also, it won't take damage from the Return Fire ability since it will only deal melee damage because it's on the front row.
VENARI MARKSRAT
Mana: 3 | ★ Level: 1
Ranged: 1 | Speed: 1 | Health: 2
Rarity: Rare | Edition: Chaos Reward
In second position, this rat will be the first monster in my team to be defeated because the Equal Opportunity is active, and when this happens it will activate its special ability:
Martyr, who upon death, adjacent monsters will get +1 to all stats.
FUNGUS FLINGER
Mana: 3 | Level: 3
Ranged: 1 | Speed: 1 | Health: 4
Rarity: Common | Edition: ChaosR
In third position, I will use this Martyr fungus monster, and when this card is defeated, my Raider who received the effects of Venari Rat's Martyr ability will get another +1 to all stats, making it very strong.
CORNEALUS
Mana: 10 | ★ Level: 1
Ranged: 2 | Speed: 3 | Health: 12
Rarity: Legendary | Edition: Untamed
In fourth position, since the Return Fire ability will deal damage to ranged monsters every time they attack, I decided to use this eye monster that will restore 1/3 of its max health (rounded down) each round thanks to its Heal ability which will leave it unscathed.
WAR CHAANG
Mana: 7 | ★ Level: 2 | Speed: 3
Melee: 2 | Ranged: 1 | Health: 9
Rarity: Epic | Edition: Untamed
In fifth position, this war elephant, in addition to its ranged attack, will also deal melee damage even if it's in the rear thanks to the Equal Opportunity ruleset. Also, if any melee monster attack it, it will have a 50% chance to attack its attacker thanks to its Retaliate ability.
RUNE CRAFTER
Mana: 8 | ★ Level: 3 | Speed: 2
Ranged: 2 | Health: 5 | Armor: 3
Rarity: Common | Edition: Riftwatchers
In last position, I decided to use this strong old man, just because after my Martyr monsters are defeated, he will be the next target of the enemies and thanks to having some armor he will resist a little longer. He will deal double damage to monsters with the Taunt ability (specifically Wave Brood, since it's the only ranged unit that has Taunt) thanks to his Fury ability.
- All enemy monsters gain Speed, and Armor thanks to Kelya Frendul's ability.
But they lost Armor thanks to my Wizard of Eastwood ability.
Round 1:
Enemy Axemaster is the first to kill a monster: ☠️Venari Marksrat is defeated, and upon death, adjacent monsters get +1 to all stats.
__________ Enemy Swamp Spitter destroys ☠️Fungus Flinger, who also activate its Martyr ability upon death.
__________ War Chaang eliminates Enemy☠️Rune Crafter.
Round 2:
☠️War Chaang is defeated by ☠️Supply Runner, who is also defeated by the Return Fire ability.
__________ Cornealus destroys Enemy☠️Axemaster.
__________ Drybone Raider eliminates ☠️Kulu Swimhunter.
Round 3:
Drybone Raider gets double kill by destroying ☠️Coastal Nymph and ☠️Swamp Spitter with its powerful sword.
MVP
Drybone Raider with a 3 kill streak
CONCLUSION
The Fire & Regret ruleset is very chaotic, especially combined with the Going the Distance ruleset, since only ranged attack monsters will be played.
I took advantage of the Equal Opportunity ruleset to play my weaker Martyr monsters, which upon death of both , Raider got a total of +2 to all stats and became unstoppable.
Drybone Raider with the help of its allies destroyed the enemy lineup quite quickly, emerging victorious from the battle.
