Splinterlands Weekly Challenge 🏹 Going the Distance Ruleset
Welcome everyone👋, I'm back again with a new post for the Splinterlands BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge!
Going the Distance: |
---|
Only Monsters with Ranged attack may be used in battles. |
Each week there is a new ruleset for this challenge, this time it's the Going the Distance ruleset, as the description says, it is very simple: only monsters with ranged attack can be used in battles, but monsters with melee and magic attack can also be played if they have ranged attack.
Good Abilities to use with this ruleset
Consider including units with the Close Range and Return Fire abilities in your lineup.
Close Range will allow your monsters to attack from the first position.
And Return Fire will return reduced damage back to its attacker if it's a ranged attack (damage returned is equal to damage of attacker divided by 2, rounded up).
With the Amplify ability you can increase the damage done by the Return Fire ability by +1.
The Headwinds ability is also a good option, it reduces the ranged attack of all enemy monsters by -1, but not less than 1.
With the Shield ability, your monsters will take less damage from melee and ranged attacks. Attack damage gets halved (rounded up), except attack 1 which deals 0 damage.
At the moment, there are only 3 ranged monsters with the Reflection Shield ability that won't take damage from all indirect, or reflected damage, which means they won't take damage from Return Fire.
Fire | Earth | Dragon |
---|---|---|
And there are only 4 ranged attack monsters that have two types of attack:
Earth | Dragon | Neutral | |
---|---|---|---|
Going the Distance | Born Again | Fire & Regret |
Only Monsters with Ranged attack may be used in battles. | All Monsters have the Rebirth ability. | All Monsters have the Return Fire ability. |
FERNHEART
Mana: 4 | Level: 2
Rarity: Epic | Edition: Riftwatchers
All friendly Monsters have +1 Health.
All friendly Monsters receive the Close Range ability.
In this battle, since only monsters with ranged attack can be used, this earth summoner will give my ranged monsters the ability to attack from the first position.
DRYBONE RAIDER
Mana: 12 | ★ Level: 1 | Speed: 2
Melee: 2 | Ranged: 1
Health: 7 | Armor: 3
Rarity: Legendary | Edition: ChaosR
In first position, this powerful raider has two types of attack and will attack twice each round thanks to its Double Strike ability. It will become stronger when its martyr ally is killed.
VENARI MARKSRAT
Mana: 3 | ★ Level: 1
Ranged: 1 | Speed: 1 | Health: 2
Rarity: Rare | Edition: ChaosR
I put this monster in the second position in case the enemy uses any Snipe monster and when my Venari is defeated it will activate its special ability: Martyr, who upon death, adjacent monsters will get +1 to all stats.
RUNEMANCER FLORRE
Mana: 13 | Level: 1
Magic: 2 | Ranged: 2
Speed: 4 | Health: 13
Rarity: Legendary | Edition: Riftwatchers
In third position, this strong Runemancer has two types of attack that deal considerable damage to enemy monsters, and also when my Martyr monster is defeated, she will be more powerful.
CORNEALUS
Mana: 10 | ★ Level: 1
Ranged: 2 | Speed: 3 | Health: 12
Rarity: Legendary | Edition: Untamed
In fourth position, since the Return Fire ability will deal damage to ranged monsters every time they attack, I decided to use this eye monster that will restore 1/3 of its max health (rounded down) each round thanks to its Heal ability which will leave it unscathed.
WAR CHAANG
Mana: 7 | ★ Level: 2 | Speed: 3
Melee: 2 | Ranged: 1 | Health: 9
Rarity: Epic | Edition: Untamed
In fifth position, this war elephant is not the best choice, it only has 1 ranged damage but I chose it because time was running out :P. It has the
Retaliate ability that allows it to have a 50% chance to attack its attacker it it is a melee monster.
ULOTH DHAMPIR
Mana: 9 | Level: 2
Ranged: 3 | Speed: 2 | Health: 9
Rarity: Rare | Edition: Riftwatchers
Finally, in last position, this orc monster does pretty decent damage and has a 50% chance to stun the enemy it attacks, causing it to skip its next turn thanks to its Stun ability.
- My monsters gain Health, and the Close Range ability thanks to Fernheart's ability.
- Melee enemy monsters get Ranged attack, and all enemy monsters get Health thanks to Tarsa's ability.
Round 1:
Enemy Countess Sinash destroys my Venari Marksrat, and adjacent monsters gain +1 to all stats, also revives thanks to the Rebirth ability.
My Drybone Raider defeats Enemy Drybone Raider, but resurrects with 1 HP.
War Chaang eliminates Enemy☠️Drybone Raider.
Round 2:
Runemancer Florre defeats Enemy☠️Venari Marksrat twice.
Enemy Lava Launcher destroys my Drybone Raider, but resurrects with 1 HP.
My ☠️Venari Marksrat is destroyed by the Return Fire ability.
Round 3-4:
My ☠️Drybone Raider is eliminated by the Return Fire ability.
Enemy☠️Lava Launcher is killed twice by Florre.
Enemy☠️Countess Sinash is defeated by the Return Fire ability twice.
Enemy☠️Firecaller is defeated by Florre and Cornealus.
Round 5:
Finally, ☠️Gargoya Devil is eliminated by Runemancer Florre and Cornealus.
MVP
Runemancer Florre with a 6 kill streak
CONCLUSION
With the Going the Distance ruleset active, we can see how the ranged monsters shine on the battlefield, I decided to give my monsters the Close Range ability so they can still attack from the first position.
In this battle, my opponent and I took advantage of the martyr ability by using Venari Marksrat, who upon death, adjacent monsters get +1 to all stats. And because of the Born Again ruleset this ability activated twice strengthening my monsters.
My monsters were much more powerful than the enemy monsters, and they easily won the battle.
