Fenix's fallout...
Hi everyone!
I'm trying to get better at pixel art and animation...
It's tough... animation is so time consuming, as you try and get every little bit right. This one isn't as smooth as I would like... but I'm trying a brand new Pixel Art program called Aseprite. I like it... but I found myself spending so long trying to figure out really simple things... like trying to copy and paste to many frames at once.
Anyway, I'm hoping to animate a bunch of Splinterlands characters until I eventually can animate a whole battle. It might take a while, so here is a short story to tide you over...
Fenix's fallout...
Fenix was angry.
The blow to his head now blurred his vision... he was furious. There was no time to readjust his helmet, his heart was raging and all he wanted was revenge. He charged straight at his quarry and with sheer brute strength he knocked him to the ground. His spear went flying but he didn't care, he smashed his head forward and his head swam even more... he couldn't see, he couldn't hear, all he could feel was his rage and the need to damage.
He was struggling to hold down his opponent, but he had fury and gravity on his side. He smashed his head forward again and the black dots erupted in his eyes and everything went dark.
"By Baluthar Khoane let me see him!"
Fenix awoke with a start... instantly placing the bellowing voice behind the door.
He sees the kind eyes of the Venari standing over him and before he can mutter a warning, the door slams open and the kindly Crystalsmith is shoved to the side and all Fenix can see is the vein popping out of Thorston's forehead.
He strains to keep his eyes open as the spittle blurs his vision again...
"What in the Silver Shield was that display?" Thorston screams into Fenix's face. The fury is long gone, and the pit of his stomach drops.
"I got hit in the head... " Fenix starts, immediately cut off by Thorston's anger...
"YOU CHARGED HEAD FIRST, YOU LOST YOUR SPEAR, YOU FLAMING IMP..."
"But..."
"BUT NOTHING, YOU'LL DIE IN THE ARENA AND TAKE YOUR SQUAD DOWN WITH YOU!"
"I got him though..."
"YOU GOT NOTHING BUT A HOLE IN THE LINE THE SIZE OF MT MOX!!"
"I apologise Thorston, I saw red and lost my temper."
Thorston cools to a smirk... "You did get him good... you were a dragon in there... but no summoner is going to chose you if you break rank like that."
A huge gloved hand rests on his shoulder.. "Get back to training Fenix, and never let go of your spear." ...as he leaves.
The Venari Crystalsmith tuts as the door slams shut, and places a glowing orb on Fenix's chest...
"Fenix, over here" Fenix looks across the crowd and sees Tradiole waving and pointing to the spare seat next to him. Fenix makes his way over and sits. The air is electric... both figurative and literally as Archmage Arius unleashes the blue dragon of Draykh-Nahka onto the sands.
Fenix and Tradiole both feel the air pushing against them as the dragons flap their powerful wings and lift their huge bodies off the central arena in Victor's Colosseum. Of course Fenix and Tradiole knew the giant beasts were only there in essence... but every one of their senses suggested otherwise.
"If you lose it like that again... you'll be guarding the Crystal Mountain forever... no Battle Mage will touch you."
*"I know, I know... Thorston subtly hinted the same." *Fenix grinned.
Archmage Arius summoned a heavily armoured Diamond Dragon and the crowd absolutely lost their minds. "I've got to get myself on the sands" Fenix promised himself.

And here's an idea for you. Why don't you combine your love of story telling into a choose your own adventure.
Where the commenters decide the fate of the character and give you direction for the next installment.
By the way I love the pixel art. You should enter that stuff into the Splinterlands weekly art contest, because it's worthy art :)

I actually had started a Choose Your Own Adventure to be published on my personal blog website thing... with all the options going off to different pages... but creating art for each page became super cumbersome and I'm nowhere near finished. Your idea is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more achievable! Thank you! I think I will!

Thank you! I can't even tell you how much lore I consumed over the past couple of weeks just to write this tiny, tiny short story. I was initially thinking of a much longer story but I don't really want to subject people to long walls of text...
