Which Land starter packs are you thinking about getting?
I'm struggling to figure out what I need to be ready for the launch of Land in Splinterlands.
I've loaded up my DEC batteries with enough DEC to purchase the starter packs for my plots of land... and I've got some DEC put aside for the power requirements for each work on each land plot as well.
So... for each land plot I'll need:
- 5 workers
- 1 power source (5000 DEC)
- Power source fuel (10,000 DEC per worker)
- Grain (half of production - but needs grain to start)
If I buy all 3 starter packs for each plot, then for 1.5 I get:
- Power source
- 15,000 grain
Runi will act like a power source (although the language used in the whitepaper maybe suggests Runi also acts as the fuel too?) so you could potentially not get the building starter pack for each Runi you have, maybe... although if you have both then you get a 6th card to work the land.
At the moment I have enough DEC for the starter packs and the power source fuel. I don't have enough for the power sources themselves, but I think I won't need those until Land 2... hopefully by which time I'll be producing enough grain to sell for DEC.
So, in summary, are you getting any starter packs for Land? If so, which ones?

Have you seen anything in this land set up for the low level resource tight beginners !LOL I am guessing, I am still best on focuses on staked SPS, Hive power and Splinterlands card power.

It's a total rip-off.

Honestly, I think your focus is exactly where it should be!
A single land plot is currently selling for $137 and then you'd need 5 leveled up cards to work the land (that you then can't play with) and the DEC requirements mentioned above... and it's all a gamble. If Land2 or Land3 comes out and the magic items/spells break the Splinterlands game by being way too powerful or not powerful enough for the investment, or they can't get it to work using blockchain transactions, then it all might be for naught.
I was lucky enough to get plots of land for $14, and even then I only got a couple because I wanted to buy cards instead (and the land I did get really helped me collect a lot of SPS) so for me the risk isn't high at all. For a low level resource-tight beginner the risk and opportunity cost is way way way higher.
You are doing amazing :D You have got everything needed :P Now you need only one thing, which is patience :P Just wait for the right time and grab what you want to grab from Splinterlands land sale.
Personally, at least the Building in a Box and Time Crystals. The Unstable Totem seems the most "optional" out of what the starter packs contain.
Yeah, I agree. I think I'll probably get it anyway though. It could potentially do not much... but sometimes those first few weeks are the most profitable in these types of games before things like grain become pretty abundant.
Wow congratulations you have achieved if I am not wrong which you said in the previous post that you want "DEC starter pack batteries" and to be very honest I don't have any starter pack for land.
Good memory! I've been working hard and moving things around to now make sure I've got the batteries I need. I think I'm pretty much all set for Land to be released now, which is kind of a relief honestly.
I "aped" into DEC-B. I have enough for all bonus for all my plots.
Nice!
I mean, it's such a good deal getting 20% for free.
The only thing is that the Power Source Fuel (10K DEC per worker) can't be DEC-B, so I've personally got that on the sidelines...
The thing that confuses me is in the Runi part of the whitepaper:
The power sources (5K DEC/-B) are staked per plot, the power source fuel (10K DEC) is staked per worker... so that "and" in the quote above maybe implies that a Runi acts as both the power source and the power source fuel?
I used vouchers, so it was 100% free :)
I did trade some for my liquid DEC for some of the vouchers, though; so I guess there's a cost there...
I'm still about ~600k DEC short for my DEC staking requirements across my tract, but I doubt that I will be maximising the efficiency of everything right from the start.
Yeah, you don't need to maximize the efficiency of all of it... once you've got some plots producing grain or SPS, you can trade that for more DEC to get more plots up and running. So your early plots will power your later plots... until you're running the whole universe.
I did the maths last night. 91/103 are ready.
Dude! That is crazy impressive! I'm sure you'll be able to get the DEC you still need pretty easily in the coming weeks...
Hopefully. :D
