While splinterlands is having it's scheduled maintenance and can not play at the moment, it is time to share my first wood harvest and becoming a splinterland land warden.

MY FIRST WOOD HARVEST - TURNING FAILURE INTO SUCCESS

Last month May 21, 2025 when i bought my first plot and got lucky that the first lot was previously activated and was previously producing SPS. I was very excited and the next day i activated it and directly produce SPS but after 24 i realize i am into negative when i need some raw materials to be able to harvest it. I ended up not harvesting it. To be able to do turn failure into success i needed to learn form those who did it or doing it and take some useful info to apply it. Having some tips to the land master's @thejedo @azircon @beaker007 @gatheringthemagic youtube and other small splinterland land owner who share their land journey by reading their blogs or watching. My mistake was producing SPS where my raw material cost is higher than the raw material cost. After changing my production from SPS to wood i was able to achieved efficiency and now i am happy to have my first wood harvest. At the moment i am producing 12.1 per hour wood with 20 grain cost per hour. That means i am having my 100% harvest every week.

Now my plan is to add worker and staked some DEC but some listed land are hard not to grab it. Deciding also to buy conclave arcana pack to experience my first black foil, as they say who knows the next black foil is just the next pack opening. With limited resources i decided to buy more 2 lands and hold into buying conclave arcana packs.

WHAT IS THE ROI

New players or returning players often ask what is the ROI. For this lets try to dig in, My total cost is 42000 DEC base on the table below in term of DEC. Take note this is base on a single plot as i only one active plot at the moment, while the 2 is under construction. The 2 new plot is still undeveloped.

So my DEC harvest per week is around 38.933 based from land trade hub exchanges resources multiply by 52 weeks in a year , that is around 2024.516.
Therefore; 42000 divided by 2024.516 equals 20.7456 . That is roughly around 20 years to have my return of investment. That can be shorten if you used your produce materials in liquidity pool.

So i added my harvest into the liquidity and later we will find out if it fast tract the ROI.

BECOMING A SPLINTERLAND LAND WARDEN

As stated above the difficulty in choosing priorities with limited resources is always tough. Choosing to buy land than conclave arcana i think is a better choice, the latter can be done next time with general sale still in early days. This was because i was surprised that i become a splinterland land warden by owning 5 plots no matter it is active or not. Thanks to @zagorlord for selling me his 2 plots for 28000 DEC via p2p transaction before land floor price goes up. Now i got a soulbound title that gives me an additional 5% bonus for every ranked battle won.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The feeling of achieving land efficiency and having a positive harvest feels like opening a gold foil legendary. And becoming a splinterland warden having an additional 5% bonus every ranked battle won maybe this is the feeling of like opening a black foil. It was never been my intention to be a splinterland land owner as i just want to play ranked battles but things just happen.
