Following up on LPE: The Jedo Version!
The Jedo!
First of all, I introduced the LPE ratio a couple of days back. As a reminder, it is an important metric for Splinterlands land owners.
Land Plot Efficiency (LPE) = (Total DEC Equivalent generated/hr) / (Number of active Plots)
As soon as it was published, I have gotten all kinds of request, which is most excellent. @beaker007 is already putting site up to have access to all the data and the plots. Before, we get into the details, yesterday, @vugtis asked me a simple question.
Show me, the top landowners hourly earning that are above 500 DEC/hr, and show me how efficient they are

Here is the raw data:

He is highly efficient!
Also, please notice that I am nowhere to be found, as per this sorting. I am trying to change that.

Explanation
First of all, let us look at the data statistically:
| Parameter | Mean | Median | Standard Deviation | Skewness |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Active Plot Count | 377.20 | 194 | 662.02 | 23.63 |
| Total DEC/hr | 1590.11 | 842.12 | 2745.84 | 29.72 |
| LPE Ratio | 8.38 | 4.64 | 8.30 | 0.65 |
The skewness calculations demonstrate the distributions’ shapes: Count and Total DEC/hr are heavily right-skewed due to outliers (read Vugtis!😅), while LPE Ratio is only moderately skewed.
Skewness is a statistical measure that describes the asymmetry of a distribution around its mean. It indicates whether the data is skewed to the left (negative skew), right (positive skew), or is approximately symmetric (near-zero skew)
Ok, back to Land proper: If you don't understand or follow any of this, here is a simple explanation. If you have a smaller number of plot, say @cyguy who has 26 plots active at the time of this analysis, likely have some high PP older alpha and beta gold foil cards on his land, so with only 26 plots, he generates a lot of DEC/hr. He is highly efficient! He is generating a lot of cash, without a lot of DEC staking.
26 plots at max staking requires 26 * 50,000 DEC = 1.3M DEC or $1300 in staking: LPE = 31.04
Let us compare that to @redundancy4040 who is running 780 plots!
780 plots at max staking (I do not know if he is max staking) requires 780 * 50,000 DEC = 39M DEC
His LPE = 0.81, much lower than @cyguy
That is $39K for @redundancy4040, if he is running all 780 plots at max!
| DEC Rank | Player | Active Plot Count | Total DEC/hr | LPE Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 31 | cyguy | 26 | 807.00 | 31.04 |
| 42 | redundancy4040 | 780 | 633.05 | 0.81 |
So, we have established although they generate very similar DEC/hr. @cyguy is highly efficient compared to @redundancy4040 and also getting similar results with likely lot less DEC staking.
Yes, of course, those alpha-beta GFLs cost a lot today, but likely cyguy have it for a long time as a legacy player. So, most certainly those cards cost less when he acquired them.
So that, ladies and gentlemen, is the power of LPE.

PS: Yes, I am not going to hide my data compared to the others. I am happy to report that I am not even in the same quantum universe!
| DEC Rank | Player | Active Plot Count | Total DEC/hr | LPE Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 31 | cyguy | 26 | 807.00 | 31.04 |
| 42 | redundancy4040 | 780 | 633.05 | 0.81 |
| 142 | azircon | 478 | 134.26 | 0.28 |

PPS
- I have analyzed data from 2466 land owners who have plots active
- Did you know that 1078 people have negative LPE?
Yep! 1078 people are net negative as of now! Meaning they are burning money every hour at land!
I guess that is a different post!

Hey, that's me! I'm glad I made the cut!
I portion of my weekly earnings go back to acquiring more plots (and more recently, CA cards!).
In order to maintain the efficiency score, it seems like I need to activate some of them other plots, too!
Of course it is you. This post is dedicated to you!
I'm honored! Gotta hold that position. More land updates from me soon. To acquire more or to activate more? That is the question. 😅
Land prices are all over the place. I could make heads or tails of it this weekend when I was looking. There seems to be no pattern across regions. I know that doesn't have much to do with the LPE, just an observation I made.
lol. Random is good in this case. Meaning it is working. Land is suddenly highly lucrative and profitable and there are numerous dials to turn. Various people are making money various different ways. That is why I am writing and coming up with these parameters for common people so that they don't get lost.
I am a bit lost but now have some plans to tidy up land, thanks!
No problem. Just keep an eye on these ratios and you will be fine. Publicly available soon at https://splinter-lands.streamlit.app/
It's crazy that wood plots in one region are like $15, but then you go to another and they are $50. I was trying to consolidate my lands into a single area, but the prices are so opposed to each other that I don't think I am going to be able to.
if that other region is mostly owned by Vugtis or Bravetofu that is more desirable neighborhood! Just like real life real estate!
Location, Location and Location.
Rich neighborhood has better shops, restaurants, malls, schools; and houses there tend of be pricey even if they have the same amenities or less compared to a run down neighborhood.
I'll have to look again and see. My land is consolidated to Brairwood, Truaton, and Osburg. I wanted to get everything into one spot though, even if I had to sell it all and start all over. The recent changes with resources have made two of my plots unsustainable. Once I run out of grain I am toast.
with the latest update, published few min ago, now having plots in different regions doesn't impact you negatively
Oh, that is cool. Thanks for the info. They publish so much stuff at once, I have trouble slogging through it all at times!
Even though I exited Splinterlands some time ago, this sort of analysis is still super interesting. Ages ago, when I was preparing for land, I wrote some Python scripts to optimise for land and creatures. Don't know if they're still relevant or if the "rules" have changed, but I wonder how close I was based on my stuff I held at the time.
I mean, any of these analysis you've posted lately are interesting, because well, I'm strange, and find all analysis interesting. :D Could be about how quickly UV wears away at paint on various timbers, and I'd still read it with glee.
Many here now writes Python scripts. Yes, rules have changed but scripts can change with them. With LLMs these days Python scripts are easy :)
@thejedo You are awesome!
He is doing great!
Thanks! Years of collecting and keeping up the faith!
This will be most useful. Add your name and get your LPE rating. I know he's done some work on it already, but it's not very clear. How tax can figure into it, I don't know as that is a variable.
a dev version is already out, he is working on it, so use caution, and we can change things...
https://splinter-lands-dev.streamlit.app/region_dec_metrics_page
Tax is taken into account.
This LPE breakdown is such a game changer. I didn’t realize how deep this rabbit hole went until now.
I don't feel like you play the game :)
If you don't commenting on my post is moot.

Decentralization isn’t just a feature—it’s a fight. Let’s model fairness, rally allies, and pressure Hive to live up to its ideals.

It would be interesting to see how that negative LPE number changes over time as things shift in the game.
I am going to guess that midnight potions pushed that number up, as from personal experience, I went into resource deficit when I switched to, first Research to get my permit, and then Aura to make potions.
At some point I will switch both of those back to resource production UNLESS new features are added to the game to keep me striving for something faster than I can build up my production ( via cards and DEC added to underperforming/fallow plots).
In a way, a chart of the Negative LPE numbers may be a good indicator of the pace of land development and the impact of that development on the resource economy
Negative LPE or DEC earning is not always a bad thing if that is deliberate and temporary. Many people done it to balance a particular resource of object.
@thejedo really doubling down on Land. Congrats sir! I admire the commitment!
Thank you! It's like starting a real-life business! ;)
LOL I'm negative 102. What the hell am I even doing in land 🤣
I saw that. I saw that last night and was thinking about mentioning it to you directly before I publish. I am glad you saw it yourself and now I am sure you will work towards correcting it.
For the record, I was barely positive, as you saw in the post above.
It is my goal to fix our problems ourselves. If no one tells us using a simple parameter how will we know? :)
Research is the issue. Stop research for now, and produce natural resources. That is the simple answer. I will look into your holding in detail tonight, after I get back from work.
It's a timely revelation. I was doing some calcs on research in my region, the time it would take certain people to overtake me, both with me stopping and with me continuing -- all with the POV of "need to keep my 35% rshares bonus," which I'm now not all that committed to... long story short, I have a year of sitting on my laurels even if we stick around in 1.75, which I doubt we will over the next year.
I do have considerable production in research 🤣
Research currently is a money pit. It is not bad. Yes, Vugtis says there is value in future and I have to believe him. But that said, just smoke that pot in moderation! :)
That is Research for ya!
To date, my land has produced the research hashish to the moon lol
Loving all the tools to help with the sometimes overwhelming aspects of balancing plots. Thx for posting/working on this and to @beaker007 for creating this.
VoNaK!
Absolutely!
I want to return some goods and services to my community. If the community becomes efficient it benefits all of us.
You have pretty good grasp on Math and data analysis.
Thank you. I feel data is visual. Important elements are usually hidden inside the data that people often overlook. A simple table or plot can reveal that important information. Then it's clear as daylight!
