Thinking does not work on some occasions. Action must be taken.
Ive been reading
Down and Out in London and Paris
by George Orwell
Its about the authors sudden descent in to poverty after he was robbed and how to manages to survive. Im only in Paris so far but I presume he gets to London. Either way it is filled with intriguing characters and wonderful insights in to the ducking and diving of a destitute man.
He says that one the upsides of extreme poverty is that it annihilates the future because you are living hand-to-mouth and just trying to survive through each day. In that way there is some relief and it reminds me of how monks will renounce all possessions in order to release themselves from the trappings of material accumulation and achieve a closer affinity with the present moment.
Anyway, heres a strange gif that turned up when I searched Orwell on giphy:

Make of that what you will.

The sun is shining.
I don't much feel like sitting here and typing.
I can imagine that will be a prevalent feeling in the coming months if I continue to try to blog. Although sometimes once Ive had my quota of sunshine It can become a relief to go inside. That quota may take a few weeks though as I lounge in stolen sun traps and absorb as much solar nutrients as my skin can take.

Waiting for Godot played by Captain Haddock and Tin-tin. Thats what this current chapter of Orwells accounts reads like. Its funny and farcical, despite the desperation of the situation. Im sure it would make a nice play. It probably already has...

when your so poor that you can only spend money on booze to turn the madness in to laughter for a short while

Shall we play some Splinterlands?

I actually have a referral link in case anyone ever reads this blog and think 'hey, I want to invest a load of money to play that game and start earning a sweet pittance for my time'

Today was ...

Earth Quest

tried to look for an earth song gif on giphy but nothing.
is it coz mj is cancelled?
or is giphy just super limited and a bit disappointing?
anyway
so I looked up earth song gif on ecosia (coz Im so enviromental like that)
I just wanted mj kneeling between the trees with the wind and storm and stuff
probably couldve found it
but instead I watched (listened to) earth by Lil Dicky
I like that show Dave
but....I thought earth coulve been better, considering how many top artists he was collaborating with
still, its got a bun load of views and I guess theyre trying to do something good for the world
who knows? I didnt go to the website. But Im using ecosia, so, already way ahead on the saving the world thing
Now what was I doing?

ah yeh, here's a few of my battles from the daily quest:

Woah its 10:30

Im genna go have brunch with my sister
I say brunch because its a bit too late for breakfast, but now I think it kind of also feels too early for brunch
Maybe its more like Breakfunch

To BreakFunch!

I want to know how she ot on watching boiling point last night.
Starring stephen graham. As a head chef. In a top restaurant.
I think it was all filmed in one shot. Very naturalistic. Great acting.
I thought it was brilliant.

See y'all soonish

Don't think I've read any Orwell apart from 1984 and Animal Farm. Most of us have no idea of what it means to be really poor, least of all those in government. We all need a bit of perspective to appreciate what others go through.

I saw an obituary for a lady who translated Tintin into English. They had to make up curses for Captain Haddock as the French version had all sorts of slang. I know with Asterix the translators had to work hard to do puns that worked in English. I read those books a lot as a kid.

We watched Boiling Point too. I felt for the camera person who had to keep going that long. I guess for the actors it was like doing a play, but lots of logistical issues. I really have no ambition to work in a restaurant. Looks like it can be pretty grim at times, but I guess there are aspects to enjoy.
