SPS investment, Airdrops and Blogging Anxiety

avatar

Good day fellows
What do I think today?
Who cares you might ask? Well I don't for a start....but thats not going to stop me writing something for #HiveBloPoMo
Thats right, you heard it. Im doing an inane blog EVERY day for a month, partly to make money and partly because....well mostly to make money, but a little bit because i feel like I need to channel something at the moment and getting over my blogging anxiety feels like a useful challenge.

So

what to write?

I personally struggle to feel like I have a worthwhile article to write on pretty much anything.... or if I did, it might require research for me to feel I could stand by it. I see a lot of articles written on hive which claim to be informational but are often just a few vague opinions and a loose rehash of whatever the current narrative is on that particular subject. Thats not good enough for me. Its a wonderful way to keep the crypto casheesh rolling in Im sure, and probably a decent way to get some engagement too, but I personally cant bring myself to capitalise on that. I might be too proud, but also, its just boring. Part of the allure of this space is that work doesn't have to be boring....in fact, it can be very creative and flexible and suit your personal style.

Basically Im a magical snowflake unicorn and I want to do next to nothing and yet still feel special. Ive struggled with this sentiment all my life and I don't seem to have grown out of it after 35 years so instead Im just trying to relax in to it!

I have started this writing challenge by splitting my thoughts in to bitesize paragraphs and allowing my wandering mind to chop and change. This gives me the freedom to express myself while getting to touch on big subjects without a whole lot of research required.

For example:
if I decide to speculate about the impact of siamese bat-weasels being introduced in to the river systems of south east england, I could simply point to its happening, maybe add my opinion about it and probably make a stupid comment or throw an amusing gif in to the mix. THEN I can move on to another subject without feeling like I have to pad the article out with a load of guff to make it feel like worthwhile content. I mean lets be honest, unless you are really passionate about researching and writing, or if you have a large readership who are relying on you to deliver a well rounded overview of the subject, its hardly worth putting all the extra effort in. Barely anyones going to read it and you'll get very little coin for it.

So there you have it. Thats my strategy for churning out drivel. Its possible that the few people who read this will feel I shouldnt be so negative about this content, and I apologise for being whiney and self-absorbed, but somehow this is just how I am getting over the hump of blogging here. Perhaps once I feel I have expelled enough neurosis about it I will be able to lighten up and put out some less self-conscious material. No promises!

Now on to the mandatory play-to-earn middle section. What a relief! Its...

Splinterlands!

And today was the death quest which I was only recently claiming was possibly my strongest hand, but today proved arduous. I guess certain rulesets dont suit my deck, and certainly I struggled in the low mana battles. But I got there eventually. Heres a couple of battles that stood out:

Death by attrition

welcome to one of the lamest fights ever where we both cancelled each others melee and put our shields up. i only won because my dwarf sniper killed the lava golem before the assassin killed my dwarf. exhilarating stuff

Get Rexxed

This is rexxie just crushing it in the opportunity ruleset. Satisfying.

SPS splintershards and further investment

I keep seeing and hearing people getting excited about sps as it seems to have been quite low for a while now. There is big utility coming up for it so if we are bullish on splinterlands, or even if we just want to continue to explore avenues of income through the splinterlands ecosystem, we kind of need to be considering SPS as an investment. I bought a bit last week because I would like to have some ready for when riftwatchers is released, but also there will be governance opportunities and validator nodes to run for anyone who likes to get knee deep in all that sort of fun. Theyll have to make that good and easy for someone like me to get involved, but either way the Splintershards themselves seem like a no-brainer right now. Not financial advice. In fact if you are treating me as a financial advisor then your best bet is to check yourself in to an asylum. Im not your guy.

Packs first?

Im guessing this wouldnt work out too well, but I was sort of wondering whether maybe buying packs FIRST and then reselling them to buy SPS is a cool idea, so that I have more packs eligible for the legendary summoner airdrops which will be dribbling in as chaos legion packs continue to sell throughout the year. Im guessing it might run at a loss in the short term, but its worth a thought. If I look in to it, I'll be sure to add my findings to one of these scintillating blogs.

Meanwhile: Airdrops!

I just collected my 2nd bunch of #Larynx tokens. Anyone who had hive staked on 6th january is eligible for some larynx each month. get over there now: https://spk.dlux.io/

#SPS still being airdropped. I keep collecting.

#Polycub still dropping although at a lower rate now. I just keep pumping it in to xpolycub and hope that Khal and the @leofinance team can give it the future they are hoping for.

Until then...

Much Wealth to you all. May accumulation somehow do the opposite of what its always done, and bring you peace and joy
Big love
Basil

p.s. there are no siamese bat-weasels. fear not

Feel free to use my affiliate link and start playing Rising Star. https://www.risingstargame.com?referrer=gillianpearce

That will give you something else to write about. 😂

It should suit your creativity too. You could even sell some music (can't remember if you create music mind you). I know you're into drama.

You could write a post about how you got involved in crypto and in Steem/Hive in particular. Did it turn out like you expected? I'd be interested to read it, it wouldn't take any research and . . . I've forgotten what my third point was going to be. 😱 😂

Here's another idea - 'The Financial Challenges of Being a magical snowflake unicorn who wants to do next to nothing and yet still feel special'.

Lol! It certainly is an interesting financial challenge.... I might have to steal that title for the next post! haha
As for rising star, its the one crypto thing I managed to get my sister @albytross in to so Im pretty satisfied with that. I get to watch her play it, and if Im honest it looks like one heck of grind!? I mean I know splinterlands is too these days.... but...I mean.... do you actually manage to earn something from it?

That's the idea! 😁

do you actually manage to earn something from it?

Yes. But only because I'm sitting at my computer a lot anyway. As you say. It would be "one heck of grind" otherwise.

mm. Yeh I have to not sit at the computer too much or I turn in to a bag of crippled spidercorns
splinterlands is enough for me. Not sure I'll realistically be able to keep up this additional blogging activity in my mornings. Ive noticed it definitely sacrifices my time spent on community engagement
