Special Ruleset strategy.gif

Intro

Pretty straightforward ruleset this week, Armored Up.

I already have written about Armored up in Ruleset post: Armored up
In that post I show some more preferred teams of mine and strategies.
Within this post I will highlight one battle and explain my strategy and choices I have made.

Ruleset

Some recap about the rule set

As stated the ruleset is simple. All monsters get a +2 armor buff at the beginning of the game.

Official ruleset information from splinterlands: List-of-In-Game-Rulesets

Abilities Synergies

This rule set synergies very well with monsters that have the void armor ability. In this case magic also need to get to the extra armor before hitting the health of the monster.
If combined with monsters that have protection it is another boost.

A somewhat less obvious synergy is with the resurrect . When a monster dies it gets again the two shields when resurrected.

I tend to also like monsters with poison in this case. While some monster have many shields with this rule set when poison lands it will drain there health each round.

Next up is rust is also bit of a counter in this case. it will take down the gained shields.
And then there is shatter shot when a monster is hit with this all shield are lost.
especially with, which I do not own 😌, , here everybody gets shattershot

Cripple has also benefits because even though the monster got shield it takes down 1 health or with double strike even two health.

Repair again another useful abilities to get some shields back

Last but not least monsters that have piercing have slight advantage as well. This mainly mend to not waist any attack points. when your enemy has 2 shield and you hit him with 3 attack point including piercing the enemy monster will lose the shields and still do one damage to their health.

I was a bit amazed while writing this that there so many options to boost or counter the effect of this rule set.

Strategy

Only the earth splinter without magic is always interesting. Medium mana and the Armored Up ruleset.
Immediately I think about poison monsters that go around the shields, shield repair and heal.

Rulesets

Lost Magic:
Simple not magic monsters are allowed.

Armored Up:
This week rules set challenge. All monster will receive +2 shields

Stampede:
All monster will receive trample. When a monster is killed it will strike the monster behind it. This will also be a interesting rule set to write about in combinations with sneak/camouflage etc.

The Lineup

Summoner

CardReason
There it is again extra health speed and shield will be beneficial in this match. Other choice was obsidian in this battle with no magic allowed a no go.

Monsters Lineup

#1#2#3#4#5#6

Pelacor Mercenary (lvl 8)
High health with heal and flying my tank for this battle.

Uraeus (lvl 5)
First poison monster to avoid the annoying shield and try to do some damage directly to the health of my enemy monsters.

Venari Seedsmith (lvl 6)
Same here, he made the team for the poison. In the third position because I expect some sneak monsters.

Scavo Hireling (lvl 6)
important for the repair. Keep the monster shields up.

Venari Scout (lvl 8)
Expect some sneak monsters that why it is more in the back with the dodge.
And because of the opportunity it still can attack.

Mycelic Morphoid (lvl 7)
Purely in for the meat shield again expect sneak monsters with melee so hope the thorns can do some damage.

Rounds

Start :

image.png
Nice two healing monster by my opponent, that might be annoying. Two sneak monster that is oke and expected. My opponent probably also did not have any other choice to use Obisdian, this is beneficial for me in this case.

Round 1:

image.png
First round in the books. No poison for me, one poison for my opponent not a very good start.
Mycelic Morphoid will be gone next round. Still the extra shield due to the repair may save my day.

Round 2:

image.png
Now my poison has landed on the Pelacor Mercenary, this is very welcome.
Also note how the scavenger monster are gathering health.

Round 3:

image.png
Table is turning to my side. Again his front monster is poisoned Bramble Pixie.
And still shields are repaired.

Round 4:

image.png
Almost over, when Iza the Fanged gets in the front it cannot do anything.

Round 5:

image.png
Ureaus is out of the way. Battle is done, one more round and again another poison which helps quicken the death to Iza the Fanged.

Round 6:

image.png
Win, nice to see the health of my Venari Seedsmith on 12.
