Battle mage secret: Equal Opportunity

avatar

Introduction

This week equal opportunity. A ruleset I always like to see. It opens many team setups.
Lets deep dive into this rule set of the week.

Ruleset

All monsters will gain the opportunity ability. With this ability you monsters will attack an enemy monster with the lowest health.

Official ruleset information from splinterlands: List-of-In-Game-Rulesets

Abilities Synergies / Strategies

Martyr - Most of the time these have low health places wel it can buff to other monsters significant

Poison -
Shield - because now you can place it on every position the and the change on other melee monster is higher with this ruleset.
Demoralize - With this rule set you probably see more melee monster therefor debuff melee attack by 1 is good option.
Thorns - again higher change of melee monster benefits thorns
Reflection shield - as described above thorns is in favor so also expect your opponent to bring some thorns monsters, counter this with reflection shield monsters.

Piercing - Attack through your opponents armor and damage their main health stat and now can attack from any position when melee monster at least.
Camouflage - Continuously deal damage to your target while staying hidden - until first position and now when melee it still can attack from the back.

That were more abilities then I expected and I might even have missed some.

Avoid

Just be careful with low health monster where you place them.
I cannot think of any monsters or abilities that I would avoid.

Example battle

Strategy

Medium mana battle this time. Love the equal opportunity rule set makes me want to play water with some nice melee units. All will hit there target so speed is only important to attack first.

Rulesets

Tis but Scratches:
All units will gain the cripple ability. So double strike units benefits and you need to be aware of heal units that might not heal to the full health.

Aim True:
All unit will gain the true strike ability meaning all will unit will land their attack.

Equal Opportunity:
This week rule set. All units will gain the opportunity ability.

The Lineup

Summoner

CardReason
Now with the new ranked and rewards this will be even more my number 1 because it is maxed. Modern Gold and Wild Diamond. Need to climb with modern. not that easy in the beginning while writing this post.

Monsters Lineup

#1#2#3#4#5#6

Baakjira (lvl 3)
This units is selected to protect the front not the main target but i expect an heavy hitter in the front. so this might heal up to it crippled health.

Tide Biter (lvl 6)
Opportunity goes before reach so it will attack the weakest unit. Decent damage for only 3 mana.

Deeplurker (lvl 10)
One of my favorite units with the poison and in combination with equal opportunity the demoralize is also important.

Igor Darkspear (lvl 5)
for only 2 mana 2 damage is an nice filler.

Angelic Mandarin (lvl 8)
Important in this strategy to heal units that have got more than 2 damage. I do not expect magic attackers but when they come they will be silenced for 1 damage.

Pelacor Bandit (lvl 10)
The backline protector and one of the first units to be attack. High does not matter for the miss chance because of the aim true rules set still important to make the first move and do some damage before it is killed.

Rounds

Start :

The lineup. Also a Lux vega and all maxed units. My opponent has also entered an nice distraction with the fiend, which is also maxed so the -1 ranged attack is a very good decision even it is not long on the battlefield with the equal opportunity rule set..

Round 1:

image.png
Both 1 unit down. Mine was more important but still pretty equal match.
I like that the Diemonshark does not do much against the Baakjira. That might be important in this match.

Round 2:

image.png
Again one on one down. this match can go either way. Lucky my poisons are landing on the correct place so it does some extra damage.

Round 3:

image.png
Might call this match a lucky one I'm landing all poisons an my opponent has missed some crucial

Round 4:

image.png
Again.. RGN gods are in my favor this match now the match is basically over.

Round 5:

image.png
Here we go, there is only one unit left. It has plenty of health, but it can't get through Baakjira.(Bewerkt)Origineel herstellen

Round 6:

image.png
The retaliate is hurting like hell. two attacks got retaliated. it will not be enough but still dangerous unit that Diemonshark.

Round 7:

image.png
Match is over....

Conclusion

Love units with the opportunity ability and also love the equal opportunity rule set this gives many melee setups that normally cannot attack in that position. In this match you could see that the opportunity goes before reach but after sneak.

See the graphical overview which is documented in a support article.
