Battle mage secret: Even Stevens
Introduction
New week new rule set deep dive, this week we are going to look at Even Stevens. Not a very difficult rule set you can only select monsters with even mana costs.
I think this will be a shorter post because of the lack of special synergies or tactics. Hope to also read other strategies post that surprises me.
Ruleset
Only monsters with even mana costs may be used.
- This rule does not apply to summoners.

Abilities Synergies / Strategies
This is not a rule set that has extra benefits certain abilities or other rule sets that synergies well, or worse in that matter 🤣.
Avoid
No specific avoids I can think of. This is where I wander if there are some other strategy posts that will brings me new insights.
Example battle
Strategy
Medium mana cap battle. no healer that is always disappointing. No range and only unit that have an even mana cost. Two limiting rule sets can be daunting because sometimes you are left with almost no unit to choose from.
So magic or melee units are expected with earth and death i gamble it will be an melee play because often magic is played either with immortalis or obsidian
Rulesets
Healed Out:
All unit loose their healing abilites.
Even Stevens:
Only units with even mana cost may be selected.
Broken Arrows:
No range units are allowed.
The Lineup
Summoner
Card | Reason |
---|---|
Something different this week. One of my few maxed out soulbound summoners that is now useful with the new ranked play update. Also important for my strategy is that i can use a gladiator card. |
Monsters Lineup
#1 | #2 | #3 | #4 | #5 | #6 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Djinn Chwala (lvl 6)
Strong tank expect some melee unit in the front so the thorns should help with some return damage.
Twilight Basilisk (lvl 8)
Hope he can lands his stun. With the reach and 3 damage an very decent unit in the second position.
Katrelba Gobson (lvl 5)
Here is the unit of this strategy. This needs to get one or two kills and the match will probably be mine.
Goblin Psychic (lvl 10)
Not in it for the heal but when my opponent is selecting a magic team the silence will reduce some damage.
Fungus Fiend (lvl 4)
Meat shield to protect from any sneak play.
Lurking Puffer (lvl 4)
Second very cheap meat shield also to protect myself from any sneak play.

Rounds
Start :
Lets star the battle....
I see some weaker units in the back that suites my Katrelba Gobson well. Luckily i also brought an silence at least one unit is reduced. While the Revealer is immune so that is not silenced unfortunately
Round 1:
There it is the first kill. I do not like the life leech of Venari Bonesmith. But is should kill it in the next round.
Round 2:
Another kill by Katrelba Gobson this determines the match i.m.o.
Round 3:
Just one health short of killing the third unit.
Round 4:
And the The third and last kill is for Katrelba Gobson Star of this match.
Conclusion
This time a somewhat shorter report, mainly because this rules set is not very interesting all normal rules applies. You only can select even mana cost units.
This battle does demonstrates how important the bloodlust units get now with the soulbound summoners and gladius units.
That's all for this week hope you enjoyed reading this ruleset strategy/analysis. See you all on the battlefield.
