Battle mage secret: FiveAlive

Introduction

This week a look at FiveAlive. Not so long ago we had FabFour. This is basically the same from a strategy point of view. Only with this rule set you can select five units.

Ruleset

Simply up to five units can be used.

Abilities Synergies / Strategies

Giant Killer - A bit depending on the mana cap of the match. Most of the time i expect some higher cost unit

Avoid

There are no real avoids imho just try to use all mana.

Example battle

Strategy

High mana match with only magic units that will be interesting.
The FiveAlive makes it that you only can select 5 units with 49 mana you can expect some high mana cost units.

Rulesets

Armored Up:
All units will gain 2 armor. This is only interesting what you have void armor because of there will only be magic units.

FiveAlive:
Rule set of the week only five unit can be selected in this match

Wands Out:
Only magic units can be selected.

Last season i pulled the trigger and bought an immortalis and love it especially when the wands out rule set in the mix. All units will have void is major in the a match with only magic units.

Monsters Lineup

Mycelic Slipspawn (lvl 8)
In the front so it can be healed by the Goblin Psychic. The force fields might be useful with the high mana match.


Regal Peryton (lvl 8)
High damage unit with decent health. Also important for this match with only magic there is almost no sneak or snipe so make sure the high health units are in the front.


Suidae Shaman (lvl 6)
Another important unit this is especially in the team for the giant killer. even with the recharge i expect it can attack some high mana cost unit.


Goblin Psychic (lvl 10)
With immortalis it's important to bring a silence. So always when i use immortalis i bring along the Goblin Psychic. Also the heal if often very important.


Runemancer Florre (lvl 1)
This is a special unit with two attack types that can be used with wands out. Very high health doing 4 damage every turn.

Rounds


Start :

My opponent has chosen to also counter the magic play with the magic reflect and -1 magic attack.
Love the shatter of my Immortalis that will remove the armor Djinn Muirat important on this unit because of the void armor.

Not that worries about the magic reflect all my units got void so 0 damage of return damage.


Round 1:

i do not like the poison on my Mycelic Slipspawn but is do not see any issue on winning this battle.
i cannot wait till my Suidae Shaman will strike on usut, hope it will not be on the armor.


Round 2:

Wow that is why i bring giant killer 12 damage in one blow and annihilate the Usut at once.

I do not like that my Mycelic Slipspawn is stunned for two turns now.


Round 3:

Now it just killing one by one.
The Veneri Bonesmith can only do some poison damage and Magi Necrosi does only do 1 damage.


Round 4:

Another 6 damage of my Suidae Shaman.


Conclusion

This battle demonstrates why i like giant killer in the FiveAlive and FabFour.
These rule sets are pretty straight forward and most normal strategies applies. I hope to read some more strategies that will give me more insight how you all approach this rule set.
