Escalation, Land And Frontier What Is Next For Me

Hallo splinter fam,

Its weekend, coffee next to me, frontier battles done and my head is full of Splinterlands thoughts again šŸ˜„

So what better to do than start a small Hive blog and just ramble a bit about all the changes in the game, what is coming up and where my mind is going lately.

There is honestly a lot going on and I keep jumping between topics in my head.

Things that keep me busy right now

  • Escalation
  • Upcoming land buildings
  • Frontier almost 3 accounts maxed so what next
    • Frontier wheel spin
  • Extra glint

Let’s dive in.

Escalation From Zero To 100 Packs Real Quick

So yeah… about that.

I went from ā€œI will skip this one and save my SPSā€ to buying 100 packs so I can grab that 1 legendary promo. Classic me šŸ˜‚

I still have not fully decided what to do with the packs.

  • Open directly?
  • Wait for better Black Foil chances?

If I am honest, even if I open everything, I will not have enough to compete on a high level in Modern. I would probably end up in Silver which actually fits my spending level.

Do I like that? Of course not.

Meanwhile my bot is chilling in Wild in Diamond I or Champion earning way more than I ever could manually. So for now the bot stays active there. It just makes sense.

Still funny how fast the mind can change when new shiny cards drop.

Land Buildings Excited But Also Question Marks

You all know I love land.

Can I already plan everything? No. Not really. Nothing is set in stone and everything shared can still change pretty easily.

What we know

  • Buildings are coming
  • You can level them up
  • Worksites stay as they are now

I really like this extra dimension. It adds complexity and decision making. That is what makes land interesting to me.

Will it be beneficial for small players? That is still the big question. There will be choices to make and probably trade offs.

What I really love is the idea that you can create buildings and other players can place orders to craft something (this benefits smaller players). That gives a real economy vibe.

One big question in my head is about the building in a box.
Is that meant also for land with a worksite?
It feels a bit strange if building rarity does not really matter beyond common plots.
Right now there is no clear reason to place a building on a higher rarity plot other than common.

So I am watching this closely. Land is still my long term play.

Frontier Still Loving It

I am still playing Frontier manually every single day on 3 accounts.

Why?

  1. Because it is fun. Even if at higher level it sometimes feels like paper rock scissors.
  2. I am still trying to complete all cards on 3 accounts. About 95% earned, not bought.
  3. The special jackpot cards are still very far away. Not even close on one account. That grind is real.

In the last Town Hall they mentioned a daily login bonus and a wheel spin. Not official yet but it is coming.

My take

As someone who plays daily anyway, I think it is fine. It will 100% help to bring players back every day. That is good for the game.

But I am also a bit critical. There are more and more gambling style mechanics in the game. Ranked rewards, Frontier draws, All foil chances, now daily spin. I know almost every game does this. I will participate as well.

Still, it is getting harder to keep track of all mechanics. Especially for new players.

They also mentioned a new token Spark as Frontier glint. No real opinion yet. Just another thing to farm, track and optimize.

They are clearly hitting the goal where you simply cannot do everything anymore. You need to specialize in what you enjoy and what fits your style and capital.

Extra Glint The Temptation Is Real

Man I want this.

If I look at my latest season report I would lose around 1.5K SPS per season. In return I would gain around 235K extra glint.

I think I would actually do that trade.

Now the problem

My bot plays way better than me and earns way more. So I bot my main account in Wild. Xbot currently has no option to enable the glint boost because they would lose the shared SPS.

I looked at the Splinterhub bot as well. For my level and earnings it is too expensive. I think the price is fair because of the system they run. I expected it to be higher.

I do not mind slightly lower earnings. But losing money is a no go.

So for now I keep it as it is. I really hope Xbot finds a workaround. Maybe some kind of invoice system for the SPS that would have been earned when glint boost is enabled. That would be perfect.

Wrapping Up Morning Thoughts

So there you have it. Just my weekend rambling.

  • Escalation hype
  • Land dreams
  • Frontier grind
  • Glint temptation

I just finished my Frontier matches as well. Happy days. No extra card. No song. Sad times šŸ˜…

Will be back tomorrow.

100 packs for me too, trying to decide if I want to buy enough to take Doldrus to the next level or try and pick some up off the market - although depending on how the presale goes there may not be many!

SHBot looks like it could be the bot to choose for higher level players, wonder how long XBot will take to catch up on the winning lineups??

I think i have enough... only will be buying more if i lose my title (i really can use that well on land)

I especially like the different approach they have taken... not only using historical line ups but ai.

I'm not sure if XBot will ever catch up at this point. XBot issued tokens for service, which it needs to satisfy forever with only the SPS delegation to keep the servers running. As SPS price dips, there is less profit to keep the lights on and less motivation to innovate. Sure XBot will eventually have enough historical information to incorporate the advanced lineups from the SHBot AI, but SHBot should continue to stay ahead since they have a subscription model which will continue to feed profits into the system regardless of SPS price.

Yeah, agreed, it will always be a step behind but the meta can’t shift that fast that just prior to set releases it should catch up as long as Sylar collects the data

Thanks for sharing, as there is so much to discuss going on lately.

With the strong new cards available in the mini-set, I have prioritized getting as close as possible to completing an RF set from my original pack purchase. I think with the limited print run, having extras of limited print run cards will be a great benefit for rental income as well as long-term value preservation. I started with a 1200 pack purchase to make sure I would receive enough for a maxed RF promo of the rare and legendary units. We'll see how much more I add based on the incentives of the leaderboard as the end of the sale draws near. Maybe I'll just buy a few packs on my alts to try and secure wagons and a title.

As for the land and building developments, I don't have the extra units to place on land. My collection is very thin besides my 1ofs for ranked play, so anytime I acquire new land, I am forced to go to the market to fill it with workers because I don't want to sacrifice cards I use in battle. So far all the new land updates, I will likely stay away unless it is something I am forced to do by changes in structure or production.

I'm still one of the holdouts that has never touched campaign or frontier mode, but I am very glad we have players who enjoy their time grinding Frontier and a place where new players can learn the basics of the game. I still spend the majority of my time playing modern ranked when I can and spsdao tournaments when I remember.

Indeed, there’s a lot happening at the moment. I can imagine it might feel a bit overwhelming for newer players, but once you’re hooked.
Especially with the strength of the community behind it, I really think they’ve built something solid here.

Playing Modern on a daily basis is time-consuming as well, so respect for keeping that up consistently.

As for tournaments, I haven’t really touched them in quite a while unfortunately. These days I’m already happy if I can get my brawls done.

So much new stuff to talk about that you did not mention the new land cards. There are going to be a couple new Common land cards and this time they are going to be battlefield cards. More exciting than last time where they could only be staked on land. I'm going to start saving land resources and burning cards for cinder to be ready.
