Ruleset strategy / analysis: Equalizer

Ruleset strategy twitter.png

Introduction

This week we are going to look at the equalizer rules set. On of my favorite rule sets. Many options to play great cards. Directly I think of support monster are benefits the most like healer and repair monsters.

Ruleset

All monsters start with the same health, based on the highest health on either team.
Important note that Buffs and debuffs are done afterward. When strengthen / weaken is used this is done after all has been equalized. Use this in your advantage to get an extra health over your opponent.

Official ruleset information from splinterlands: List-of-In-Game-Rulesets

Abilities Synergies

Heal/Triage - all monster have high/ equal health so heal can maximal benefit, because if correct you have no squishy monster or all monster are squishy.
Repair - extra protection while you monster already have a nice pool of health, Warning not when only magic can be played like with the rule set wands out

Life Leech - another ability to gain extra health

Cripple - because the chance is high also you opponent will use healing monster this can help counter the heal a bit, love to combo it with double strike like Dhampir Infiltrator.

Strengthen / Weaken - To get an extra advantage over your opponent you can consider using these abilities these are calculated after the equalizer has done his thing.

Also try to get in as many monsters in as possible

Strategy

Select

I try to select monster that have by default low health and low mana cost those benefits most other equalizer ruleset.
such as imagen this starts with 10 health and life leech 😍

Preferred teams

Really depended on other factors like:

  • Other rulesets
  • Mana cap
  • What you opponent is often playing
  • What cards and level do you own/rent

Here are some setups that I like to play. Viewed with the levels and stats that I own.

Summoner#1#2#3#4#5#6

Nice healing team which i like to use

Summoner#1#2#3#4#5#6

This team has some healing and some repair, The extra health on the Pelacor Arbalest makes it more protected.

Avoid

Martyr/Redemption - Monster with martyr or redemption have a disadvantage because it only triggers when they die with the equalizer ruleset it might take a while.

Example battle

Strategy

image.png

No ranged so i think i will choose earth or death this match. Nice opportunity to use two or three heal monsters.

Rulesets

Reverse Speed:
Slow monsters attack first also the attack accuracy (miss calculation) is reversed.

Equalizer:
This week ruleset all monsters have equal health.

Broken Arrows:
No ranged monster can be used.

The Lineup

Summoner

CardReason
Another summoner on max level one more to go and then all rare CL summoners are max level. now i still need a lot of monsters. This summoner is strong with magic even there are nice counter against magic i still like to play obsidian often.

Monsters Lineup

#1#2#3#4#5#6

Fungus Fiend (lvl 4)
Meat shield with lot of health because of the equalizer ruleset. Minimal 7 health.

Failed Summoner (lvl 1)
Magic reflect great chance there will be magic monster. my opponent first need to kill my first two monster before it gets to my damage dealers.
Only a level 1 monster but with this ruleset it is high enough also in diamond league.

Queen Mycelia (lvl 3)
First heal monster. As explained I like an heal strategy when the equalizer ruleset is active.

Djinn Biljka (lvl 4)
Not in the back this time when it get in the front it still can be healed by the Goblin Psychic.

Goblin Psychic (lvl 8)
Second healer. One of my al time favorite monster because of the silence and affliction and for the equalizer ruleset the heal of course.

Magi of Chaos (lvl 4)
Heavy damage dealer in the back that can be healed by Queen Mycelia when damaged by any sneak monsters.

Rounds

Start :

image.png
Because of my opponent I got 3 extra health total now 10. Sometimes also a nice strategy to gamble that your opponent chooses a high health monster, while you have select low health monster on there abilities, in this battle that was not the case/gamble.
1 healer against 2 and I got more slow monster that is an advantage for this battle, reverse speed ruleset.

Not sure why the revealer has one more health, anyone knows why?

Round 1:

image.png
Quick and good start to kill the cursed windeku. My opponent has landed a poison on my magi of chaos 😌.

Round 2:

image.png
The 2 healers are doing the their work. One healing the tank and the other the backline.

Round 3:

image.png
A few more rounds this is looking good. Even though the Runi is hitting hard with the 4 damage.

Round 4:

image.png
Again first shot of the Uraeus is landing his poison. that won't be enough 4 monsters against 2. The runi still has his rebrith.

Round 5:

image.png
Last man standing in this case the runi. It will kill my Failed Summoner, since the magic monster are dead just a meat shield.

Round 6:

image.png
Nice to see that my shield will help deflect one attack.

Round 7:

image.png
Just in the end the rebirth triggered, one more hit needed than the battle is over.

Round 8:

Battle is over.

Conclusion

One of the nicer ruleset imo. I love to chose some low health monster that are being elevated to be great high health monsters.
