Spl-stats: Marketplace expansion with a brand new Skins page

Welcome back everyone!
We're back with another SPL Stats update for Splinterlands, and this one actually started during one of the livestreams with @ourfadedglory and @dafiz .
They were talking about skins and how there really isn't an easy way to browse them or buy exactly what you're looking for. While watching the stream I already joked in chat that I could see another SPL Stats project coming... and well... here we are. 😄
The next day I started experimenting with a rough design of how I wanted the page to work. Since I already had a large part of the marketplace infrastructure in place, I thought it would be a fairly quick project. My plan was simple. Add support for the Non Card Market assets, starting with skins, then music, and afterwards the remaining asset types.
As usual, things turned out to be a little more complicated than expected.
One thing I always try to avoid is simply creating "another marketplace." There are already several good marketplaces available, so I don't really want to compete with them. Instead, I want SPL Stats to help players discover things more easily, make better decisions, and add a bit of extra convenience while you're already managing your Splinterlands collection.
That is exactly the philosophy behind features like Buy Missing CC, and now the new Skins Marketplace.
While building the skins page, @doombot75 found it almost immediately (while it was in testing) and gave me a great suggestion.
"Can I also see which skin is currently active and activate another one directly from your site?"
At that moment the answer was "not yet."
One day later... the answer became yes. 🤣
That is one of the things I love about this community. Great ideas keep coming from players who are actually using the tools. Even better, while implementing this feature I discovered I had several skins myself that weren't even equipped yet.
Of course, it wouldn't be one of my projects without running into a few unexpected surprises.
Initially I assumed all marketplace assets behaved the same. It turns out they don't. Music behaves as unique instances, while skins behave as quantities, but still have their own special rules for things like activation and ownership. In the end I introduced a completely new marketplace asset type inside the application to properly support skins while keeping the rest of the marketplace generic enough for future asset categories.
The result is much bigger than I originally planned. Besides skins and music, nearly every Non Card Market category is now supported.

You can find the new marketplace here:

So without further ado, let's dive into everything that was added.

Building these tools takes a lot of time and also infra cost.

The new Skins Marketplace
This is by far the biggest feature of this release and the one that started everything.
The goal was simple. Make it easy to browse every skin for every card, immediately see what you already own, what is currently equipped, and what is available on the market.
Instead of just showing a long list of market listings, the page groups everything by the base card. That makes it much easier to browse all available skins without having to remember exact skin names.

For every skin you can immediately see:

- Whether you own it.
- Whether it is currently listed on the marketplace.
- Whether it is your active skin.
- The current lowest marketplace price.
- The available marketplace actions.
If you like browsing lots of information at once there is also a table view. If you prefer something more visual you can simply switch back to the card layout. Your preference is remembered, so next time the page opens exactly how you left it.

The marketplace itself supports all the actions you would expect.

- Buy skins directly.

- List your own skins.

- Transfer skins to another account.

- Cancel active listings.
Every transaction is verified after broadcasting so you immediately know whether everything completed successfully.
One of my favourite additions wasn't even planned.
During development @doombot75 suggested adding the ability to see which skin is currently active and allowing players to change it directly from SPL Stats.
I liked the idea so much that it immediately implemented it.
Now every skin clearly shows whether it is currently equipped, and changing your active skin only takes a single click.

While building all of this I also discovered something myself... I had several skins sitting in my collection that I completely forgot to equip. 😄
Probably I'm not the only one.
Building this page also uncovered something interesting behind the scenes.
I originally expected every marketplace asset to work roughly the same way. That turned out to be completely wrong.
Music behaves like unique collectibles where every copy has its own unique identifier. Skins on the other hand are quantity based, but still have special activation rules that make them behave differently from every other marketplace asset.
That meant quite a bit of refactoring before everything behaved correctly. In the end I introduced a dedicated ownership model for skins, making it much easier to support them properly while also preparing the application for future marketplace assets.
Music and the rest of the Non Card Market
Once the marketplace framework was in place it made sense to continue with the remaining Non Card Market assets.
Music was the next category to receive full marketplace support. Just like skins you can now browse your collection, see live marketplace prices, list owned copies, transfer them to another account, or buy new ones directly from within SPL Stats.

From there I kept expanding until almost every marketplace category was supported.
You can now browse and trade:
- Packs
- Titles
- Consumables
- Collector Stickers
- Totems
- Totem Fragments
- Land
- Deeds
- Land Resources
For packs I added an edition filter so you can quickly search for all packs belonging to a particular set instead of browsing one marketplace listing at a time.

Titles also received a small quality of life improvement by displaying their descriptions directly (to see how much the boost is on land), making it much easier to browse through them without constantly opening additional windows.
Most of these pages intentionally stay fairly simple.
Unlike the Skins page, where I wanted to build a complete collection experience, these pages mainly focus on helping you quickly find, buy, sell or transfer assets while keeping a consistent interface throughout the application.
Quality of life improvements
Besides adding new marketplace pages, quite a few improvements were made across the entire collection section.
Every marketplace page now shares the same filtering and sorting options, making it much easier to jump between different asset types without having to learn a different interface every time.
You can sort by name or price, filter by price range, switch between card and table layouts, and your preferred layout is remembered automatically.

After every buy, list, transfer or delist action the transaction is automatically verified, giving immediate feedback that everything completed successfully.

Several improvements also happened behind the scenes.
Finally, I also fixed an issue where the Combine Cards feature could sometimes continue using stale collection data after a successful combine. The collection now refreshes correctly, ensuring the available combine options immediately reflect your updated collection.

As always, there are probably still a few edge cases hiding somewhere. If you find something that doesn't behave as expected, or have another cool idea like the active skin suggestion, let me know.
Community feedback continues to shape SPL Stats, and many of my favourite features started exactly that way.
Closing thoughts
That wraps up another SPL Stats update! I'm really happy with how the marketplace is evolving. I hope the new Skins page makes collecting, browsing, and managing your skins a lot more enjoyable, and that the additional marketplace pages save you some time as well.
As always, thank you to everyone who keeps testing new features, reporting bugs, and throwing new ideas my way. Community feedback is a huge part of what shapes SPL Stats, so if you spot something that isn't working quite right or have an idea for another feature, don't hesitate to leave a comment. See you all in the next update!

Glad to see this has become a full market along with all the tools you have available for the community, I found the Cavewise Beach Bum skin that I didn’t realise I had and used the site last night to scroll through and activate a lot of other skins that would have taken me an age on the official site!
Awesome work once again!
Nice that is what i like to hear 😍
This is not only great work but perfectly timed before all these new skins hit the market. Thank you for all that you’re doing for the community brother. It is greatly appreciated. 🙏
I have seen some skins already... they look nice let them come 😍
Thanks for sharing! - @azircon

Dude! 🔥 Beaker my man, you continually go above and beyond, this is such a massive resource! 🤯 The skins management was probably the most frustrating feature in the game, this is absolutely chef's kiss my friend 👌
And then you just go and make a full management library for all other assets as well, what a beast 💪😂
Bedankt, mijn Beste 🙏

One idea I had...can you implement a skin trading feature, or is that a crazy lift? Would be cool to safely trade p2p through a platform like that
Thanks man, I really appreciate the kind words! ❤️
As for P2P trading... I've actually been thinking about that for weeks because it's something I miss in Splinterlands as well. 😄 It's definitely possible, but it's also a much bigger project.
Right now I'm leveraging the systems Splinterlands already provides (buy, transfer, etc.), and everything is signed through Hive Keychain. That means the security is handled by Hive and Splinterlands, which gives me a lot of confidence.
The moment you build your own P2P trading platform, you're suddenly responsible for things like escrow, security, exploits, failed transactions, and all the other edge cases. In crypto, that's not something to take lightly. 😅
I know Hive has escrow functionality, but I haven't really dug into how it works yet. It might be an interesting direction to explore in the future.
If I ever decide to build something like that, I'll probably start with a small proof of concept first... before I accidentally become everyone's bank. 🤣
