šŸŽ¶ SplinterVibes: Music Is Now Part of the Game

SplinterVibes.png

Welcome back all,

Splinterlands has been on an absolute roll lately. New features, new ideas, new votes… and before you’ve fully wrapped your head around one update, the next one is already live šŸ˜…
Honestly, the pace is almost too fast to keep up with, but that’s not a bad problem to have.

This week, the spotlight is on SplinterVibes.

I already loved the music they had up on SoundCloud, so when this was announced, I knew one thing for sure:
I wanted to own some of these tracks in-game.

šŸŽµ What Is SplinterVibes

SplinterVibes introduces music NFTs that are fully integrated into the Splinterlands ecosystem. Each track is tied to a real character from Praetoria.

Important part for me:

  • You can listen without owning
  • You can earn them
  • You can buy them
  • And once owned, they’re fully tradable

That already ticks a lot of boxes.

How the Music Is Distributed

Series 1 starts with 12 unique tracks (out of 80 planned), each with 100 copies, for a total of 1,200 NFTs.

What I really like is that they didn’t lock everything behind a single method. Instead, SplinterVibes is spread across multiple parts of the game:

1ļøāƒ£ Shop – Glint & DEC

You can directly buy some tracks using in-game currencies:

  • Llama Mage → 2,000 DEC
  • Zyrx → 4,000 DEC
  • Yaba’s Pickle → 20,000 Glint
  • Arcane Skinwalker → 40,000 Glint
    Simple, clear, and accessible.

as you can see one is already sold out

2ļøāƒ£ Shop – Land Resources

This is where it gets interesting.
Some tracks require specific land resources:

  • Grain → Craniax
  • Wood → Jicarilla
  • Stone → Possibilus
  • Iron → Zarin

Each song is tied to one resource, which:

  • Creates long-term demand for land outputs
  • Gives land a real sink

Strengthens the land economy without forcing anything

This is exactly the kind of design land needed.

See here i miss one šŸ˜… (need more grain)

3ļøāƒ£ Ranked Minor Chests

Yes, music can now drop from minor chests.
Drop rate: 0.05%
Roughly 1 NFT per 2,000 chests

Rare, but exciting. Music joining chest rewards just feels right.

4ļøāƒ£ Frontier Gameplay

Frontier players aren’t left out either.
Same 0.05% odds
Roughly 1 NFT per 2,000 claims

This rewards active play, not just wallets. always a win in my book.

Built-In Music Player

SplinterVibes comes with a built-in music player inside the game.
Click the speaker icon (top-right), and you’re good to go.

Easy to hide if you don’t want it
And honestly?

This is the first time in years that I turned the in-game sound back on.
That alone makes this update a success for me.

What I Bought (And Why)

I went straight to the shop and bought what I could right away.

I’m still missing the Grain-based track, but that’s actually part of why I love this update:

I don’t need to own it to listen

But I want to gather the resource and spend it in-game
Call me crazy, but that’s the gamer part of me talking.
I enjoy working toward things inside the game, not just flipping assets.

I’ll also:

  • Try my luck with minor chests
  • Keep playing Frontier and hope RNG smiles on me šŸŽ²

Why This Update Works (For Players IMO)

What makes SplinterVibes great isn’t just the music, it’s how it’s implemented.

This is:

  • Optional
  • Fun
  • Cosmetic
  • Integrated
  • Can be paid for with in-game assets (i find it easier to spend that 🤣)

And yes, some of these things may not make sense from a pure ā€œinvestment ROIā€ perspective…
But they make perfect sense for gamers (IMHO).

This is the stuff that makes a game feel alive.

šŸ’˜ Quick Note: Valentine’s Update Incoming

I didn’t even touch yet on the Valentine’s event coming February 1:

Holiday-themed arena

  • New modifier ruleset
  • Limited skins
  • Avatar wardrobe items

Another great update, though I may have to skip parts of it because, well…
you can only spend your Glint once šŸ˜…
At least we still have some time to decide.

Final Thoughts

SplinterVibes is a sweet update, plain and simple.

I really hope the team keeps expanding the music collection and continues adding things we can buy with in-game assets. That’s what keeps players engaged, not everything needs to be about efficiency or ROI.

But hey, that might just be my gamer mindset talking šŸ˜‰

Thanks again for reading, see you all on the battlefield.
Beaker signing off šŸ‘‹

The cool thing is, even if this isn't for everyone it's still cool! I always play without music, I can't focus with music so I'll skip on this, but great to see one great update after another and people like them all šŸ”„

so I'll skip on this

Totally fair šŸ˜„
And honestly, that’s not a bad choice at all, with all the updates coming, you’ll probably need every bit of glint and resources you can get 🤣
Still cool to see the game adding layers like this, even if it’s not for everyone.

Love that this is a thing now. Not sure how many I will actually buy. Saying that I didn't think I would buy any skins as they're only cosmetic but I ended up buying a bunch

So familiar, I had exactly the same. Normally I don’t care much about cosmetics at all… but that changed once I could buy them with in-game earnings. Same for the music actually, didn’t expect to care, but I love it.
