Thanksgiving, Gratitude, and the Splinterlands Community

Hi all,
This week’s engagement challenge is about Thanksgiving, and even though we do not really celebrate Thanksgiving as a thing here in Europe, the whole idea of standing still for a moment and being grateful actually hits home for me. Life moves fast, Splinterlands moves fast, and the community definitely moves fast, so taking a step back to appreciate a few things felt like a perfect fit for this post.
Over the years we have seen our fair share of heated discussions within the Splinterlands community. Some were needed, some were silly, and some honestly went way too far. That happens in every passionate environment, but what always stood out for me is that at the core, this community is strong. And that is still a big reason I am here. Do not get me wrong, I love the game a lot and I believe it can grow into something even more amazing. But if I had to pick the one thing that keeps me around it would be the people.
Gratitude for the Team
I am hesitant to tag specific individuals in this post, because the list would get too long and I would definitely forget people who are dear to me as well. But I still want to give a big thank you to the Splinterlands team. They keep building even when the criticism is loud. Sometimes the criticism is fair and sometimes it feels like personal attacks, but they keep going anyway.

What I appreciate the most is that they try to find a balance. Not just for whales, not just for old players, not just for new players, but for all of them at the same time. That alone is a huge challenge. Every change has an impact and it is impossible to please everyone, yet they keep pushing the game forward, adjusting, listening where they can, and doing their best to improve things step by step.
Gratitude for the Guild
Then we have our guild. Filled with passionate people who just love the game and are not afraid to talk deeply about it. Weekly discussions that go into the good, the bad, and the ugly. Strategy talks, game balance ideas, personal stories, fun moments, and even disagreements that still end in respect. A guild is more than a badge next to your name.

Gratitude for the Community
And of course the community. That is honestly the magic of Splinterlands. When you start engaging with people here you quickly realize how much effort this community puts in for others. From creating content to running giveaways to writing guides to participating in DAO proposals and talking about improvements. From onboarding new players to making them feel welcome to delegating cards to help them start. All of that builds an environment that is rare in gaming.
Most gaming communities out there are full of trash talk and negativity that makes new players feel unwelcome. Splinterlands is the opposite, in my experience. Here people help each other grow. That is the reason why so many stick around once they get involved. That is one of the things I am truly grateful for.

My MVP Archon and Unit
And because data never lies here are my personal MVP picks. No emotions here just facts from my match history.
Archon: Lux Vega

Unit: Doctor Blight

Both have been dominating for me with great win percentages and very high usage. They simply deliver. Lux brings flexibility and slight advantage over kelya. Doctor Blight is still one of the most value-packed units in the game with the camouflage and poison combo.
If you ever check my stats these two will always sit at the top.
Final Thoughts
So that is what I wanted to share for this Thanksgiving week. Even when we do not celebrate it here I really like the idea of taking a moment to appreciate what we have.
Splinterlands can be frustrating sometimes, real life can definitely be frustrating sometimes, but if you pause for a moment and look around there are always things worth being grateful for.
For those who celebrate, have a wonderful Thanksgiving. For everyone else I wish you a great weekend full of good battles and good vibes.
Stay healthy and safe enjoy the beautiful community we have here in Splinterlands.
See you all on the battlefield!

100% Agree that Doctor Blight deserves the MVP spot. The stats are impressive, but I think there is so much more to it than that. For me, Doctor Blight really defined an amazing era of Splinterlands. It was THE chase card that everyone wanted during the height of the bull market.
Definitely true it took me two years before i owned one 😍
