Lorna Shine vs Lorna Shine
Senyong1 and Pututoy will faceoff in a thrilling mirror matchup, their identical decks clashing in a battle of strategy by having the same summoner. Lorna Shine gives the divine shield ability to all friendly monsters at the start of each battle which ignores damage inflicted for the first time. Let's see who has the better mastery of the game in this head to head against 2 top bronze players. It is a low 15 mana cap battle where low cost monsters are given the time to shine. The ruleset is Ferocity wherein all monsters have the unprotected ability which removes all armor from all monsters, whether it be from abilities or summoner buffs.
The Lineup
Team 1 opens up with Gargoya Scrapper which reduces magic damage taken by 50% with its void ability. Stitch Leech and Uraeus are the second and third monsters both having the sneak ability which targets the last position enemy monster. Fourth on the lineup is Battering Ram and with its opportunity ability will allow it to attack from any position targeting the enemy with the lowest health. Celestial Harpy also has the opportunity skill together with a flying ability raising its evasion by 25%. The sixth and final monster in the lineuip is the Lensmaster which doesn't have any special abilities aside from the buff given by the summoner.
The second team has the Pelacor Conjurer as their tank. Similar to team 1 Stitch Leech, Uraeus, Battering Ram and Celestial Harpy has also been selected in the battle focusing on sneak and opportunity attacks. Soul Fiend is a zero cost monster which will complete 2nd teams lineup by tanking backline damage.
Round 1
By the fourth turn of the first round is when we have our first casualty of the match. The first teams battering ram falls from combined attacks from Team 2 Battering Ram which removed the diving shield ability and the subsequent attack of the celestial harpy. This is a big blow as one attacking monster has already been removed from the contest severly weakening the damage output for team 1. The second team had employed a good strategy of using the soul fiend which gets targeted by the sneak attacks spreading the targetting to couple of monsters and still survives due to divine shield.
Just a few turns after, team 2's battering ram was sent to the graveyard by a counter attack from the celestial harpy of team 1. It has already lost divine shield from an earlier attack.
The soul fiend is next to be removed from contest after an attack from the stitch leech. And just like that team 2 is now behind in monster count. Team 1 has the upper hand with 5 attacking monsters compared to just 3 from the other team. The second round is crucial as it will give team 2 the right to attack first for same speed monsters. Question is would they still have enough to survive the remaining turns.
It was team 2's turn to attack and dropping on this 14th turn is the Lensmaster. Monsters keep falling one by one. And it won't take long before this battle gets concluded.
Round 2
The second round starts with both teams having an equal count of 4 monsters. It is unclear who has the upper hand. And the first position cards might play a significant role. One team 1 the gargoya scrapper gives an advantage because it has the means to attack. However on the second team, the pelacor conjurer although unable to attack has a high chance to evade as well as higher hp.
In contrast to the opening round. No monsters were lost in this second round. All the damage inflicted has been ignored because of Lorna Shine's ability buff of divine shield. It appears that everything is on equal footing, however take note that each team has 2 monsters left with divine shield. And these difference in monsters still having a shield might be a critical factor. Especially for second teams Celestial Harpy who did not lose its shield as it was able to avoid an attack.
Round 3
And now the end game battle begins, the celestial harpy of team 1 has been swiftly removed from the game by an opening attack from Uraeus. This is a significant loss for the first team as they not only lose a monster but an offensive striker as well. Things are turning out pretty well for pututoy and team.
End of round 3, and amazingly the celestial harpy of team 2 has still survived. The first attack that connected to it from the Uraeus has been negated by the divine shield. The second attack which was supposed to deal damage was then evaded. Team 2 is in a very good position entering the fourth round. Their stich leech even has the divine shield ability still up.
Round 4
It is team 2's Urareus again with the opening blow of the fourth round, removing from contention the same monster from the opposing team. From this point. I could say only remaining is for Team 2 cleanup the remaining 2 monsters of the first team.
And just as quickly, the Celestial Harpy did not waste any time. This time dealing a fatal strike to the Gargoya Scrapper. It is one against 4 and this might just spell the end for Senyong1.
The fourth round ended with the Pelacor Conjurer taking damage but did not die yet. The remaining monster stitch leech of team 1moves to first position and after getting hit by an attack from the same monster already lost its divine shield ability. The fifth round will be the final round and from the looks of things we already have a clear winner.
Round 5
The stitch leech will not go down without a fight. Surviving attacks from Uraeus and Celestial Harpy it dealt a counter attack which KO's the pelacor conjurer.
Still it was a losing effort. With the Stich Leech of team 2 attacking and securing the victory.
It's the little details which could guarantee victory in the world of splinterland. This match started with the same summoner. Has selected 4 of the same cards each and has identical strategies employed. However the small difference in positioning and monster selection was more than enough to create a clear winner in this match.
thanks as always.
Great analysis. I see both teams had good strategy in this low mana battle.
Indeed. They actually had a similar mindset heading into the game.
Affirmative.
