Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!

This time we will review one of the top battles between highly ranked players in the bronze league. Let's see what strategies they come up in this death vs water match-up.

Babywipes vs AkoPalasiPJ

This is a low mana battle with 21 Mana Cap. The ruleset is Taking Sides which prevents the use of Neutral Monsters battles. Babywipes will be using the water splinter and choice of summoner is Pembrook Nymph who provides all friendly monsters with 1 health and allows the use of one additional gladiator card in battle. He will be up against Akopalasipj whose summoner Thaddius Brood whose debuff causes -1 magic damage as well as reduces health by 1 to all enemy monsters

The Lineups

Water deck has the Kelp Initiate to act as the first position tank and while it does not have any means to attack its high speed of 5 and health of 6 makes it a good choice, Torrent Fiend will be the secondary tank that despite just having 1 attack damage is another good choice as it costs 0 mana to cast, Noa the Just is another non-attacking monster but has the rust ability which reduces the armor of all enemy units by 2, Isglad Vorst will be the main source of damage in this roster as he has the bloodlust ability which gives +1 to all stats when defeating an enemy and also has the opportunity which allows to attack from any position targeting the lowest health monster, Ice Pixie is a flying magic damage monster and has a 25% chance of evading physical attacks, Hardy Stonefish will be protecting the backlines with its natural armor.

For the Death deck the Cursed Windeku takes up the tank position with thorns ability that when hit with a melee attack causes to 2 damage to the attacker, Corpse Fiend is just a 1 attack monster but is zero to cast and is acting as the off tank, Revealer is a magic damage monster that has the stun ability which can give a 50% chance to of a monster skipping a turn, Life Sapper has life leach which gains health for every damage it has dealt, Death Elemental has the snipe ability prioritizing enemies that are ranged, magic or has no attack and not on the first position, Shadowy Presence provides backline protection with 5 health.

Round 1

After all buffs and debuffs were applied during the initial turns, Isgard Volt is first to attack and targeting the enemy with the lowest health which is the Corpse Fiend makes quick work and sends it to the graveyard. This successful elimination of monster grants +1 to all stats to Isgard Volt making it an even more powerful monster in play.

Here is the buffed up Isgard.

Round 1 ends with an exchange of attacks from both sides with no monsters being additional casualties. The Kelp Initiate was notable in this opening round as it had evaded an attack from the cursed windeku making it rather ineffective and not having an attack keeps it safe from thorns damge. The life sapper has gained 1 health after attacking and Noa the Just lost 1 life from an attack coming from the death elemental. The revealer connected with a stun but is really useless against the kelp initiate who is just there to absorb damage.

Round 2

Another successful kill by Isgard Volt this time removing the life sapper from gameplay.

This Gladiator is becoming to be unstoppable now with another set of +1 buffs. It is also well positioned not to take any damage.

The 2nd round ends with BabyWipes having significant advantage of a complete monster lineup versus the opponents losing already 2. The Kelp Initiate again did wonders of soaking up damage while evading the cursed windeku's attacks for the second time in a row. The revealer and death elemental successfully connected their magic attacks but they are only dealing 1 damage and is not enough to kill off any monsters.

Round 3

Right off the first turn, Isgard Volt again connects with an attack and another successful kill on the death elemental. Akopalasipj is now facing a huge disadvantage as I don't think he has anything to deal with the opponents lineup.

Bloodlust doing its thing and the summoner choice of Pembrook Nymph allowing a gladiator in this match is just too good.

More than halfway into the third round. Death has finally able to take down the Kelp Initiate. The cursed windekus attack finally landed and the revealer dealing the final blow.

Back to back kills by akosipj after the Torrent Fiend received thorns damage after attacking the cursed windeku and it is now eliminated from contest. Death is still at a heavy disadvantage as the opponent has a gladiator in the lineup.

Round 4

Another one shot one kill by Isgard Volt and this match is now heavily favored for water to win.

Gladiator Isgard Volt has already gained +4 to all stats after dealing all the killing blows. There's only 2 monsters left on the enemy line up and both are just easy targets.

Round 5

The death splinter is helpless at this point and could no longer recover. Isgard Volt is just now cleaning up the tables.

How do you stop this?

Round 6

The Shadow Presence is the last monster to fall and with an attack from none other than Isgard Volt, the water splinter claims this victory.

This is the final stats of this proud gladiator which was unstoppable from round 1.
