Byzantine Kitty vs. Yodin Zaku

This matchup features Dragon vs Fire summoners. Byzantine Kitty's special ability includes healing the first position card every round. Together with a buff of additional 2 speed for every friendly monster as well as granting each friendly monster the true strike ability. On the other hand, Yodin Zaku gives all allies the blast ability, which deals half damage to monsters which are adjacent to the targeted monster. It also has the buffs of one additional health and plus 1 ranged damage. There is a 35 mana cap in this round. And ruleset set to standard meaning no modifications will come into play. Who will come out winning in this elemental battle?

The Lineup

For the Dragon deck, Agor Longtail is on the first position, an extremely strong monster that has both ranged and melee attacks, it has the flying ability allowing it to evade physical attacks by another 25%, While Taunt paired with its armor will make sure that it is the target of every monster, while having the void armor, allowing its armor to absorb damage first before it receives health damage from magic attacks. Venator Kinjo is on the second position, it has the reflection shield which makes it immune to blast, magic reflect, thorns and return fire damage. It's second ability is the camouflage allowing it not to be targeted unless it lands on the first position. Scavo Hireling has the repair ability, that repairs amor each round. Venari Crystalsmith with the tank heal ability will provide health support for its first position monster. Halfling Alchemist has the halving ability which will reduce the damage of monsters it hits by half (round down). The lineup is completed by the Herbalist that has cleanse skill removing all negative effects from first position monster. Momongja3's strategy is to go all in with his Agor Longtail which is greatly supported by the rest of the cards.

On the other side, Living Lava start on first position, a tanky monster that has the shield ability reducing melee and ranged attacks it recieves by 50%. Venator Kinjo same with the above is also on the second position of this team. Djinn Inferni will play a huge role in this game with its Giant Killer ability, allowing it to deal double damage to monsters that has more than 10 mana cost to summon (A counter for Agor Longtail). Spark Pixies is a high speed monster with ranged damage and flying skill making it more elusive. Scavo Firebolt is a ranged monster that has no special ability but blends well as it gains ranged attack damage. Tower Griffin will also deal ranged damage from the sixth position.

This match is like a one for all vs all for one setup. Dragon's gameplay is to put all focus of support priority into their carary Agor Longtail. While for Fire, each card will have a role to play a heavy reliance on Djinn Inferni to deal significant damage to Agor Longtail. Let's see how this unfolds.

image.png

Round 1

Attacks were flying left and right and it is surprising to see no monster casualty in this opening round. All the blast damage from the fire team is being negated because of venator kinjo. However Agor Longtail has already lost all of it's armor and is exposed heading into the second round. The Living Lava still has pretty ok health but it's damaged was halved by the Halfling Alchemist.

Round 2

And the fight goes on again having no monsters sent to the graveyard. From the Dragon side, only Agor Longtail has been dealing significant damage. It still manages to survive as the healings and armor repair from Byzantine Kitty, Scavo Hireling and Venari Crystalsmith allows it to survive. From the fire deck all attacks are sent to Agor Longtail, Djinn Inferni in particular was able to deal significant damage to the first position. Both first cards are just down to 2 health.

Round 3

The tank heal by Byzantine Kitty allowed Agor Longtail to absorb damage from the Spark Pixies and it continue to survive. When it's Agor Longtails turn to attack it finally able to manage to remove the Living Lava from play. We finally have our first casualty, and from here on out I think monsters will start falling left and right.
image.png

Because Agor Longtail has both melee and magic attacks. It can perform 2 attacks each and every round. The consecutive attack in melee form destroyed the Venator Kinjo. Just like that Fire team is on a disadvantage losing 2 monsters quickly. Fire team should eliminate this Agor Longtail before it gets healed and have its armor repaired.
image.png

By the end of Round 3, Fire deck failed to take down Agor Longtail, it has been sustained by armor repair allowing it to absorb an attack from the Djinn Inferni. At the same time, the halfling alchemists attack on Djinn caused its damage to be significantly reduced.

Round 4

Fire is on the ropes with its strongest attacking monster eliminated by Agor Longtail. With this the Spark Pixies moves into first position not allowing it to attack. I don't think there will be enough damage output to still eliminate the Agor Longtail. Again the blast damage is not taking effect due to Venator Kinji.
image.png

Back to back kills by Agor Longtail after it performed its second attack on the Spark Pixies.
image.png

It seems like all hope is lost for Yodin Zaku and team to get back on this match as Agor Longtail is just almost fully recovered at the end of round 4. There is also not enough damage that would be coming from Tower griffin in the next rounds. Scavo Firebalt as well will be unable to attack in the succeeding turns given that it has moved to first position.
image.png

Round 5

Agor Longtail opens an attack on the Scavo Firebolt removing it from contest. It is just a clean up job now for the dragon team to eliminate the final remaining monster in this game.
image.png

And it is over. Combined attacks from the Venari Cyrstalsmith and Halfling Alchemist were enough to take down the final Griffin Tower. It was a flawless victory for the dragon deck and not losing any monsters. Their strategy really paid off well.

image.png
In the end, the All for one strategy was more than enough to secure victory for the dragon team. Venator Kinjo was also a great addition in order to negate that blast damage. The supports of byzantine kitty, Venari Crystalsmith and Scavo Hireling did its job well in sustaining Agor Longtail. And while the opponent had Djinn Inferni, it was quickly countered by the halfling alchemist. It is sometimes risky to put all your bets in one card. But sometimes the risk is mitigated by a great strategy and monster selection.
