Splinterlands Social Media Challenge

This week's battle analysis features another mirror matchup between 2 Earth decks. Featuring Namkeyslp3 versus Kinneas. This should make for an interesting matchup given the different strategies they would implement.

Earth vs Earth

This is a 40 mana cap battle with standard ruleset meaning no modifications or special set of mechanics will apply. Namkeyslp3 has selected to go with a magic based lineup selecting the summoner Obsidian who gives plus one magic damage to all friendly monsters. Kinneas on the other hand opted to go with Mylor Crwoling which gives all allied monsters the thorns ability returning back melee damage taken. Lets find out whose gameplan works out better.

The Lineup

Namkeyslp3 has selected the Unicorn Mustang to act as tank against magic damage using its void ability that reduces incoming magic attacks, Kron the Undying is a 10 health monster that has the heal ability restoring one third of its health every round, Doctor Blight is another magic monster that has both the afflication ability as well as the camouflage ability which prevents it from getting targeted unless it is on the first position. Goblin Psychic will provide support to the first position card with its tank heal ability. Queen Mycelia is another semi-support card that gives the protect ability buffing up armor of each monster by 2. Last on the list is Venari Spellsmith which has the dispel ability which removes all positive effects to a monster it hits.

For Kinneas, the following monsters are similar to his opponents lineup. The Unicorn Mustang, Kron the Undying, Goblin Psychic and Doctor Blight have also been selected on the enemy lineup. What's different is Ava the Undaunted who has the weapons training ability which pairs well to Chaos Agent as it can gain half the attack of Ava given that chaos agent has no attack damage itself.

Round 1

No monster casualties happened this round despite of having 20 turns. However, Kinneas Unicorn Mustang only has 1 remaining HP left after attacks from the magic lineup. While Namkeyslp3's tank still incurred a lot of damage, it still sits at higher health. The protect armor given by queen mycelia was crucial in this round as it prevented the return thorns damage when is mustang attacked.

Round 2

Lucky break for Kinneas as his Unicorn Mustang is first to attack and was able to eliminate first the opponents tank. Kron the undying moves to first position and I don't see the unicorn mustang surviving long.

As expected the Unicorn Mustang falls next from an attack inflicted by Kron the Undying, both Krons will now be in first position.

The second round ended with Namkeyslp3 having a slight advantage with his Kron entering the next round on a slightly higher HP. He will also have first attack on the next round for similar speed monsters.

Round 3

Ava the Dauntless was first to attack this round, but any damage it dealt to Kron was immediately healed back up. With Namkeyslp3's Kron having the right to be the first one to attack from both of the Kron's it's buffed up damage from the Obsidian was enough to remove the opposing Kron from gameplay. Kinneas Mylor will no longer be effective this match as there are no more melee monsters left from the opposing team.

The goblin psychic was eliminated from the contest due to combined attacks from from doctor blight and venari spellsmith. Namkeyslp3 has now a good lead of still having 5 monsters left versus the 3 of his opponent. Dr blight will now move to first position and this could be an easy cleanup now for the other team.

And just before the round finishes, an attack from Goblin Psychic, quickly drains down the health of doctor Blight. The obsidian summoner is doing great wonders here amplifying the attacks of these magic lineup.

Round 4

Huge opening for Kinneas as his Ava the Undaunted opens the first turn of the fourth round with a ranged attack on Kron sending it to the graveyard. It's 4 vs 3 with Kinneas still trying to play catchup and is fighting an uphill battle.

Venari Spellsmith dealt a fatal blow to Kinneas' doctor Blight. Ava the undaunted will now move to first position and given that it is a range monster will be unable to attack. Only the Chaos Agent remains able to deal damage, and with Queen Mycelia's armor buff still up for all friendly monsters it's going to be a tall task to comeback from this one.

It didn't take long for Ava the Undaunted to fall and be removed from gameplay. Queen Mycelia dealt the final blow and without Ava, the chaos agent will have no means to attack and will just be left for dead.

Here the chaos agents lost its attack power after Ava's death.

Round 5

A single magic strike from Venari Spellsmith is all it took to eliminate the Chaos Agent and secure the victory for NamKeySLP3. It was valiantly fought by Kinneas but in the end the choice of summoners have proven to be the critical factor in this match-up. The four monsters remaining for the first team is Doctor Blight, Goblin Psychic, Queen Mycelia and Venari Spellsmith.
