Legendary Dragon Summoner

This artwork is inspired by the summoner Camila Sungazerm, she is from the dragon deck and has the ability to reduce all enemy monsters melee attack by one and all for just a mana cost of 3.

Lore

It is said that Camila Sungazer received her summoning abilities from visions wrought by staring day after day at the noon sun for her entire life. She is, of course, completely blind from staring at the sun, but her magic is most impressive.

Let's have a look at the steps taken in order to complete my entry for the Splinterlands contest week 259.

  • First off, this art was done using the iPad Pro and was done inside the application called ProCreate.

After identifying my reference image of Camila Sungazer, and starting off with a blank canvass. I started placing guidelines which helps me in placement of facial features like the eyes, nose, mouth and ears.

I then start working on sketching the outlines.

I continue with a rough sketch of the face, head and hair. Using light, loose lines to establish proportions and basic shapes.

I gradually refine the features by adding parts from the lower part of the head.

image.png

After completing the sketch, I then add colors. Starting of with the base colors of the skin then the hair.

Proceeding to coloring the clothes

Still in the coloring stage, I started to add different tones and varying shades of color to create an emphasis on light and shadow as well as blending for texture.

The last step is to add the finishing details. Final touches include the background as well as refining edges from coloring.

Reminds me of the quote.
