Runic Sklyclaw - Such a great ranged Carry

One of my best Twitter accounts is Splinterlands. It keeps me informed about all the important news in the ecosystem and #Hive posting events like a media challenge. In my opinion, those challenges are an incredible way of increasing the pride of being part of this community, as every player shares his/her game experience with others, allowing others to learn about everyone's successes and mistakes. For this one, I bring an in-depth tactical analysis for such a great AD carry in the Riftwatchers set and we open a recruitment period for our Top competitive guild - THGaming Brawlers. Hope you like it!

Such a great toolkit for a ranged carry!

I present the first Riftwatchers creatures that I am planning to bring to max level. Got some priorities before, but I know for sure, that one day (let's hope this day is closer than further), I will max Runic Skyclaw. The main reason? Three rulesets in higher-level leagues have shown how outstanding this guy is with his survival capabilities and his ability to boost your Damage output. Let's take a look at his max-level stats in the next figure:

Runic Skyclaw has pretty decent stats for 9 mana, considering first of all 5 ranged damage with 6 speed (which allows him to shoot almost first and increased dodge abilities). On the defensive side, we find 4 armor and 6 health (being almost impossible to melt him down fast). To these great raw stats, we find the first ability that boosts overall his survivability: flying. This means an absolute 25% dodging and not receiving damage from Earthquakes.

Related to his Damage output, we find Snipping. I find Snipers great creatures that can surprise your opponent. I mean, Sneaking attacks go backline, Opportunity attacks go weaker creatures and Snipping attacks hunt non-melee units. This fact generally means enemy supports or ranged Damage dealers.

Reflecting shield is an outstanding survival ability even for a Ranged Carry with tons of use. First of all, you will bring Runic Skyclaw for sure if you face the Explosive Weaponry ruleset. Secondly, Runic gets prevented from reflecting fire (he fires but never regrets it).

Finally but not less important, we find Giantkiller. Considering top-ranked battles were increased mana combats are more frequent, there's more chance to find Chaos Dragon, Grum, Grund, Coeurl Lurkers... and tons of big bosses that will be hard kicked in their asses by Runic Skycklaw
But what makes Runic Skyclaw so useful? 3 Rulesets have boosted the situations where he fits great in your army. Earthquake? Bring him for sure! Non Earthquake? He has increased dodging chance thanks to Flying. Can be placed off-tank preventing splashing damage and revers gets affected by reflecting damage. Also, his fast speed and high damage allow him to hit first (and remember that the one that strikes first, strikes for the double!) - and even better if it's to a high-value target like carry or support! And finally, Giant Killer melts big bosses. Seriously guyz! Just try him! I could never imagine how a carry could solve such different combat situations!

Let's jump into a Runic Skyclaw outstanding performance

If I could summarize all my single posts in just one combat, maybe would be this. I decided to write it just when I finished this battle and told myself: wow! This guy is greater than I've ever thought (I know that we will be discovering cards and relations between cards as long as we advance in the matureness of the game), but... oh my god! I faced a 43 Mana, Earthquake, Opportunity, and Aim True combat and the board looked as follows:

image.png

  • Both players chose Baakjira for the main tank, thanks to her survival toolkit and her natural resistance to sustained damage. I find lots of times winning combats like Noxious Fumes, Earthquakes, or simply by fatigue to opponents that did not bring Baakjira into the board. Her Magic resistance, Stenghten, and, especially Slow are also a great part of her toolkit.

  • Chaos Dragon surprises in combats in many ways that one should begin at first. Such an expensive creature that with his scattershot, magical damage, and blast, melts enemy backlines ignoring taunts. Adding to this toolkit we find Flying, which makes him a great option for this ruleset, and Blind. Blind is a chapter apart. 15% absolute chance of an enemy attack being evaded. Blind wins battles.

  • But let's speak about our MVP: Runic Skyclaw. The first two attacks meltdown WaveBrood - Angelic Mandarin Sustaining combo and Ignoring damage reflection thanks to his Reflecting Shield. Not affected by Earthquake, Not affected by enemy Chaos Dragon's blasting damage. And when things we going close, shooting him for 8 Damage thanks to his GiantKiller ability. I leave you the entire battle and hope you enjoy it!

THGaming recruitment period

Finally, I would like to take the opportunity to communicate that our top competitive THGaming guild is looking for great players that would like to get involved in a great tier 3 guild, jumping soon to tier 4 (let's hope those DEC-B will be suitable for upgrading buildings soon!)

image.png

We would like to find involved players that can play Gold Frays willing, who rarely miss a Brawl eager to grow with our community. We get an average of 40 SPS and +2kMerits per brawl (this means a gladius case). So, if you think you could help us to become a more competitive guild, please contact us - either comment the post or reaching our guild would be great

Our other two Guilds (THGaming1 and THGaming2) are in the recruitment period as well and looking for Splinterlands players that want to join our great community and Brawl but don't have Tier 3 level decks.

THANKS FOR REACHING OUT HERE!
