Dusting off my Splinterlands deck and opening Chaos Legion packs

avatar

I haven't played Splinterlands in a while, but I've started slowly to get back at it. When I was an active fighter in it, I was usually playing the Wild mode as my deck holds good Betas and rewards cards. I don't know about the other editions and if Chaos Legion is still allowed in Modern or if it was moved to Wild as well. But while that remains to be found out (you can write in comments if you know), I have started to open part of my 715 Chaos Legion packs. As I like round numbers, for the beginning I am opening 15 Chaos Legion packs to see what treasure lie in them. In time I will open the entire packs and maybe I can build up some could armies with it. And if the market is low on them, I will even try to maximize the warriors in order to get the most of them.

Here we go with opening 15x Chaos Legion packs at once. But while it is the automatic opening of that, I like to click one by one to capture all the thrill of opening boxes. Let's see what we get...

Here are the cards that I got from the first draw.

Draw 3

Here are the cards that I got from the third draw.

The draws were not amazing, but there are some good cards that got into my deck. Here is a summary of the ones tat I can consider more valuable and that I hope to help me on the battlefield.

  • 1x Legendary cards - Scorch Pawn
  • 2x Common Gold cards - Stitch Leech and Chaos Agent
  • 3x Epic cards - Djinn Inferni, Hunter Jarx and Tusk The Wide
  • 4x - Rare cards - River Nymph, Venari Spellsmith, Goblin Psychic and Mycelic Slipspawn

It wasn't amazing, but it is a start. Next time I intend to up the number of packs that I am opening. Considering that I have 700 Chaos Legion packs, in order to keep the enthuziasm and not to finish all too fast, I will do 50 packs opening. This way I will still be able to manage the cards that I get and also take the time to study them a bit as well and see what skills would fit me the best in battles. I don't know Chaos Legion cards in detail so this will be for me also a discovery and research in order to spot the best cards and to consider even buying from the market in order to maximize them.

I have a lot of cards starting with Beta edition so while I will probably not need so many first edition cards, I intend to still put them at work on Land. I have 10 plots there and only 2 of them are filled up so any new powerful and exceptional cards could help me harvest more resource. I have also a Splintershards mine but that is costly to operate, so probably I will need to put all the other plots at work, get as many resources that I can and trade them for additional rare resources that such a mine requires. It is not easy to manage the land in the right way and to produce in an optimized way. So that will imply some math from my side and putting the right cards on the right plot in order to have positive impact and not to be penalized because of wrong cards.

Slowly I am moving back into the Splinterlands groove and I am rediscovering the game, its tokenomics, its dynamics and while I love the economic part of it, I will surely enjoy also some battles. The current season is soon to end and in the next one I plan to buy also a Wild pass as that's where I have my best warriors. So next two weeks probably will be quite active for me and this way I can get back in the rhythm and accomodate myself with all that has been developed lately. And by the looks of it there were a lot of developments, the game has now more use cases and the UI is cool as well. All good things at a first glance, now it remains to go into more depth and see it through how it is. That's it from me, roger out and see you on the battlefield.

Does a Chaos Legion pack contain 15 cards? And how much did you get it for?

The cards are decent enough to get you by but there are some really good ones among them too. You can also rent some of the good cards, and the rental prices are quite reasonable. This way, you can build a more balanced army for your deck

I don’t know much about Land either. I’m also exploring the game right now . For the moment, I am learning more about the monsters and trying to understand them better... There’s still a lot more to explore and learn ahead .

See you on the battlefield! 😉

Chaos Legion contains 5 cards pack as all the others. I bought them back in the days for about $4 a pack which is crazy money compared to what it is now. It was supposed to be an investment but as more Edition packs flooded the market it wasn't. Thus my decision to open them.

700 CL Packs?! Quite a big stack. Good luck with the draws.

A big stack that went down in value like everything else. But now after opening at least I intend to max them out and maybe put them to work one way or the other.

Yeah, that once was a little fortune, those 700. 🫣

Chaos cards are solely used in Wild battles. You can use them in modern ranked only in some rulesets like Outsider which is rare.Other than that their main usage is Wild. By the time you exhaust opening that massive number of packs, you would have gotten a powerful deck collection for battle.

Though I don't play Wild because you need a pass to qualify. I just concentrate on frontier, modern and survival leagues. Anyway,Do have a great time warrior.

Chaos legion were moved to Wild long ago and it's been almost two years since it was done, but you can continue to use the cards to play in Guild and earn some decent SPS if you have a good guild, you could earn 50 to 100 SPS or even more if you join a good Guild. Or you can choose to sell all the cards and buy the new edition. Although the new edition is a bit expensive
