Splinterlands - End of the season rewards got me on a shopping spree

avatar

The end of the season came early in Splinterlands and with that some rewards were dropped for the forceful players that I've thrown into battles. I was quite consistent during this season and climbed the ranking from Gold I to Diamond I and I've succeeded to grab some rewards chests along the way (for crossing levels) and in the end to gather a bunch of Glink tokens. In total with the Glint earns from battled during the season and with the ones granted at the end, I have surpassed 120,000 Glint tokens. And guess what I did next? You are right, I went on a shopping spree in the Glint Shop. So let's see what goodies I got there and what my buying strategy was.

My shopping strategy

While we have now the possibility to use Glint and buy directly Gold Foil Rarity Draws, I still find them a little bit too pricey for my taste. Because of that I am continuing my strategy to buy Normal Rarity Draws where I also have chanced for Gold Foils. My way of doing things is each season to buy with Glint all the Draws that I can that are part of Batch 1, thus having the lowest cost. I will be buying first Common Draw, then will go with Rare Draw, following by Epic Draw and Legendary Draw. Usually I don't gather enough Glint to buy all of the types by I usually deplete the Batch 1 for Common and Rare Draws and also buy some of the Epic Draws. The ideas is to get to maximize the cards from these rarities. Once that is achieved I can move to Gold Foils.

Batch 1 - Common Draw chests

With the generous Glint that I have I went and bought all the Common Draw chests from Batch 1. That summed it up to 400 cards at a cost of 150 Glint each, thus 60,000 Glint in total. Out of the 400 cards I was lucky enough and got 16 Gold Foils. If I would have bought Gold Foils Draw chests those 16 cards would have costed me 56,000 Glint. Thus, I believe that going with the Common Draw chests was a good option as that paid for it almost entirely with the Gold Foils that I got.

Batch 1 - Rare Draw chests

With the leftover Glint that I had, I could afford also 84 Rare Draw chests from Batch 1. That summed it up to 84 cards at a cost of 750 Glint each, thus 63,000 Glint in total. Out of the 84 cards I wasn't as lucky as before and I got only 1 Gold Foil. That's is at a cost of 15,000 Glint thus the entire amount spent wasn't quite balanced by that. But it is still a good draw whenever a Gold Foil is revealed.

Another season, another fight

Now another season has started and the fight continues. Will I change my strategy? Not until I achieve my goals of maximizing the regular cards. At least if I can succeed to do that on common cards, I will be able to move afterwards to better rarities. But nevertheless the progress motivates me to keep on going using this strategy. And once I max some cards, I will be able to burn the additional ones and try to get missing cards and maximize them as well. It will not happen overnight, but with consistency and persistency I will get there.

Going on a shopping spree in Splinterlands Glint Shopping always gives a great feeling and I think the excitement from it stays few days in the air. It is quite important to keep players coming back in the game and I think on this the team found a good recipe. Thus for me it remains to keep on going, fight the good fight and try to maximize all the rewards cards one at a time.

Your consistency paid off, it took you from Gold I to Diamond I, and I believe your performance this new season will be even better. And you did the right thing investing the glint rewards back into the game. Hopefully the investments will pay off. Thanks for writing and have a great day.

So you didn't attempt to buy any epic or legendary draws?

Not at this point. I am I first finish the Batch1 on Common and Rare and I succeed to also buy some Epics, but not all the Batch 1 for them as are more expensive. But the strategy is from bottom to up as I feel its easier to achieve.

Okay, from bottom to top, that's understandable. I wish you good luck with it. I mostly just buy everything because it's useful to grow every card except Legendaries for me.
