Splinterlands - How to broadcast custom Json on the Hive blockchain from your browser

Splinterlands is a full force on the Hive blockchain and it is just more than a play2earn crypto game through all the third parties and things built around it: content creation, conferences, intertwined additional games using its assets, video streaming and much more. I think it is the application that makes the most custom Json operations on the Hive blockchain and it keeps this entire ecosystem alive and kicking. And with that also some technical challenges come to the surface and sometimes to achieve different things you might need some knowledge here and there.

In this post I intend to present how you can broadcast custom JSon information and post it on the Hive blockchain directly from your browser, while being logged in to Splinterlands. I got this information from my Guild where all the members pulled together and in order to rank up we agreed to delegate our Brawl rewards to the Guild in order to pay back the sponsored DEC required for this. Here are the steps that you need to do in order to achieve this.

  1. Open your Chrome browser or any other one that you need where you have also Hive KeyChain extension installed.
  2. Log into Splinterlands while having your active key loaded.
  3. Press F12 in order to enter the Development Tools and select the Console option from available tabs.
  4. Run the following command to interact with KeyChain and broadcast custom Json: SM.BroadcastCustomJson('sm_delegate_rewards','Delegate Rewards', {"username":"myguild","percent":"100","type":"brawl"})
  5. Press Enter to execute.

At this point the Hive KeyChain pop-up should open and a Transaction Signature will be required with the above custom Json command. Approve it in order to be executed on the Hive blockchain and take effect in the Splinterlands.

This is a Splinterlands example that anyone can make use of and broadcast custom Json on the Hive blockchain and the beauty of it is that it can be used for any other application that runs in this ecosystem and makes use of such transaction types. It is great when you look under the hood of the Hive blockchain and see what's there and understand how things work. Hopefully this will help others or at least bring some clarity on how you can interact with this blockchain using Hive KeyChain and one dapp or another.

Come and join the amazing world from the Splinterlands!

I like how Splinterlands allows various different applications to interact with it. Anyone can do it if they understand what they are doing.
