Splinterlands - Use Generative AI for gameplay and experience improvements

Generative AI cannot be ignored nowadays regardless of the domain of applicability or the industry we find ourselves. Its positive impact in elevating work, routine, but also bring innovation and new pathways is simply exponential. And it will continue reverberate everything that it touches and with the help of people in a good way. While we all are attracted by the Splinterlands captivating and immersive gaming experience through all the metaverse built, there is so much more space for growth and exploring. And I think that by leveraging the power of generative AI, Splinterlands can introduce new exciting and dynamic gameplay elements, enhance the visual aesthetics of the game, and provide players with a more personalized and engaging experience. But let's see how this can happen through smaller steps in the beginning in order to make a slow transition and get acceptance from the player's base.

AI-Assisted Deck Building

Deck building is a critical aspect of Splinterlands' strategy as you need to pick and choose your best fighters according to the game rules. Generative AI can assist players in creating optimal decks by analyzing rules and available cards with their corresponding skills and help send your best formation into fighting. I am not saying to make this to fully pick your decks, but it would be great to give you hints and assist you in doing so. The AI-assisted deck building feature could in this way streamline the learning curve and helps players optimize their gameplay strategies. Instead of having Help, How-To or other static information moving to dynamic and contextual AI-Assistance would greatly improve the game.

Dynamic and Evolving Card Abilities and Gameplay

Generative AI can introduce a new level of dynamism and complexity to Splinterlands' gameplay mechanics. By incorporating AI-generated elements such as evolving card abilities and unpredictable game triggers that are not part of the initial game rules, would make each battle unique and challenging. This will transform even same character at the same level to be able to have different skills which could make some cards more valuable from others. Imagine having a Forge building or Training camp where your warriors can depict new skills and experience.

Enhanced Card Art

One of the most visually appealing aspects of Splinterlands is its card art. Generative AI can revolutionize the art refinement process by enhancing the generated card designs. By combining various artistic styles, patterns, and themes, AI algorithms can extend base characters to an extensive library of unique card art. This approach ensures that each card possesses its distinct aesthetic, providing players with an endless array of visually captivating and diverse collectibles. It could be done this way to ensure uniqueness or let the team pick and chose the best creations. This should not be like creating a character from the ground up, but more customizing it and giving it fine details.

Intelligent Boss Fights

While is not yet part of the Splinterlands real, the Boss fights are something awaited for a long period of time. But instead of having some dummy boss fights, Generative AI can make them Intelligent and adapting to players attacks and strategies. This could give the feeling of a real opponent and not a bot that simply would play same scheme over and over again. We don't need to make it too smart, but allow it some movement in order to provide more excitement and thrill within such battles.

Personalized Chat Experiences

There is a lot of talk about adding a chat feature to the game and I think that along with that there is room for game characters to come to life and players be able to interact with them. This is already happening in big games where non-player characters (NPC) can have a smart chat with any player. Would be awesome to witness such discussions where such characters are wearing the role that they are giving in the game.

What I can say is that generative AI represents a groundbreaking opportunity for Splinterlands to enhance the gameplay and deliver an immersive gaming experience. Splinterlands can captivate players on a whole new level by including new dynamics for the players and truly transpose them into a magical realm. I wonder if there is a plan in this regards and if not maybe the above ideas could be the start of something awesome. What do you think, does Generative AI have a place within Splinterlands? In what other ways would you see Generative AI improve the gameplay and experience?

I don't know how this is going to be integrated, but we already have the bot system, unless it's to enhance it and make it different. It's exciting to imagine how AI will work on splinterlands.

The idea is not to use Generative AI for bots, but for other aspects in the game to engage and interact with the player. There are so many things that can be integrated and for example Chat GPT has an API that could easily be accessed for such purposes.
