Almost half of the Chaos Legion packs have been minted

Continuing from the last airdropped legendary monster, we're now at the point where almost half of the total number of Chaos legion packs have been minted. There's still some way to go before the sale ends, so you can still get involved.

The pace of sales has been fairly consistent, with nothing overly crazy happening in recent times. Interestingly, the pace of sales somehow mirrors the general crypto market.

There are a number of cryptocurrencies that can be used to buy Splinterlands credits, so I think that plays a part in the pace of sales. The general market has been flat for a while now, and it could either be a leg up or a leg down, time will tell.

In any case, it is important to keep track of the Chaos Legion packs that are available and also look into how you can purchase more if you intend to.

Really tight

This period is really tight for me, and accessing funds to make more purchases will be difficult. My closest target is to round up $400 to buy another 100 packs.

In a few days time, I'll have enough vouchers to claim the bonuses, but I don't think I'll have the funds required to buy the packs.

I also don't have much else to sell without hurting my aspiration to climb up the ladder.

At the time of writing, I can get to Diamond 3, which is where I finished last season. I did get beat down to Silver 1 in my quest to do my daily quest but that's normal.

I have plans to get even higher and to achieve that, I've been using the rental market. I got in a couple of decent monsters that boosted my collection power but they also improved my battle proficiency.

Considering a gamble

I'm thinking up a scheme that may come around to bite me in the ass. It is a scheme that will require selling and betting it all on packs.

I'm basically thinking of selling some of my expensive monsters and then reinvesting the funds into packs. Then hold packs until they become scarce, after which their price starts to rise, then I resell and buy back the monsters.

So in essence, if I decide to go down this route, I'll be hoping that the price of packs rises by a decent level.

The price of monsters are relatively low these days but that could all change in the future. If we experience another influx of players and demand rises, the monsters I sell could end up being even more expensive than they were when I sold them.

So, if I was going to buy them back, then I have to at least be able to sell the packs at a much higher price than I bought them.

If the price of monsters decides to spike the way it did at the early stages of the SPS airdrop, even a 2X on packs might not be enough to get them back. This makes me feel like betting it all on packs might not be the way to go.

Just be patient

The alternative is to continue down the line I'm going and just buy as many packs I can buy from my earnings from content creation. It is a slow process and I'll probably not be able to buy packs in bulk.

If the pace of packs purchases and the crypto market sorts itself out, it will give me more funds to buy packs but that also reduces my window.

I started a new power down that will take out 50 Hive per week. If my earnings from publications stay at this rate, I'll still be powering up about 40 Hive a week, so this approach mitigates the loss of curation reward.

This powered down Hive will be stacked up and then used for buying packs. I'm also going to put some HBD to work, while also adding some to savings, so I can add to the $20 I earn monthly from savings.

I could end up doing a bit of both, that is, to be patient and to sell some of my cards. I'll be watching the market to make sure I squeeze out profit from it.

If the opportunity to sell a monster, particularly my summoners and get in higher levels, I'll take it, since this will enable me to battle in higher leagues.

If I manage to break into Champions league, I could be earning points that will contribute to my SPS airdrop. That alone is an incentive to go hard in the market. Time will tell.

Well, time will tell but remember to always look at how many people that are coming into the game on a weekly bases before doing anything crazy, I know that the packs are worth less this period but the same goes with monsters, next since you are in a good league in the game, I will like to spa with you just for fun and we can make it a live zoom call or something, that's if you are up for it.

One extremely interesting point to consider when selling your stronger monsters for packs is that - depending on how many packs you'll get with the money you earn - you'll be airdropped the most sought after cards in the set - legendary summoners. This could tip it just slightly more towards the "worth it" side of the spectrum.
