How to buy Splinterlands credit with any cryptocurrency

In a couple of hours, we will be coming to the end of the second round of Chaos Legion sale. When this round ends, we will no longer need vouchers to mint packs, all we'll need at this point is Splinterlands credit.

For many people who have been around the game for a while, getting credits isn't anything new. However, I must admit that I didn't know the process until I tried.

Getting Splinterlands credit is very important if you intend to invest some of your funds in the game.

In the past couple of months, this game has been quite rewarding for the community, so I think it's a good investment.

A big reason why this next phase of the sale and these new sets of monsters are important is because of what they represent. They're going to play a big part in the future of the game, especially when the expansion fully kicks off.

The Splinterlands ecosystem is constantly evolving and has outlined a series of developments in the roadmap. One of the most prominent is the creation of a metaverse with land and a lot of other digital collectibles that will turn this game into a more robust and rewarding ecosystem.

As it stands now, Splinterlands has already evolved from simply being a game into a full-fledged investment opportunity. The game offers numerous ways to earn passively.

One of the most prominent ways of earning is through the SPS airdrop. In summary, players/investors earn SPS governance tokens based on the value of assets in the game, including packs.

Inside each pack, there are NFT monsters that you can use for battles to earn DEC. Both DEC and the monsters contribute towards the amount of SPS token you earn from the airdrop.

At the time of writing, virtually every other pack that's not the Chaos Legion pack is beyond reach for any not so rich investor. So while they do have more expensive monsters in them, in isolation, they're not much value to SPS airdrop.

Chaos Legion packs are the new kids on the block, housing a variety of monsters that can vastly improve your gaming experience. On top of that, simply holding the relatively inexpensive pack contributes favourably to your passive earning.

There's also the fact that history has proven that when this pack goes out of print, there's a decent chance that the price will go up. This is pretty much what happened to every other Splinterlands pack in existence.

All of this is irrelevant if you don't have Splinterlands credits in your account. This is because Splinterlands credit is the only token that's accepted in minting Chaos legion packs.

Buying Credit

Splinterlands credit is sold within the game. It is a stable coin of sorts, pegged at 1000=$1, that's not tradable and can only be used for NFT purchasing purposes within the game.

There are a variety of ways you can buy Splinterlands credits and in this publication, I've divided them into two. You can do it directly with Hive assets or with assets outside hive.

Using Hive assets

Buying Splinterlands credit with Hive assets is extremely easy. In fact, it is the process I highly recommend for anyone that holds any hive-based crypto.

At the time of writing, you can buy Splinterlands credit directly with 5 different Hive-based assets. The assets are Hive, HBD, Leo, SPS, and DEC.

I will use a simple example to show you how it works. This procedure can be repeated for any of the aforementioned hive assets in your possession.

• Go to splinterlands.com. If you're new to the game, please use my referral link
• At the top right of your screen click on the "+" sign beside the portion that shows your Credit balance

• In this portion, you input the amount of Credit you want to buy then select "crypto". Note that 1000 Credit is equivalent to $1 worth of credit and each pack is worth $4 or 4000 credit

• Select the dropdown menu and pick one Hive asset. In this example, I'll pay with HBD

• Select the currency of your choice from the menu and then validate it with Hivekeychain, Hivesigner, or any other wallet that you use.
• Wait for a few seconds, and your SPlinterlands credit balance will be updated.

Note that if you have other hive assets that aren't on the list, you can simply swap them for the accepted tokens on leodex, Tribaldex, or Hive-engine. Alternatively, you can also get the asset on external exchange and then send it into hive.

Using assets outside Hive

If you have assets that aren't listed on hive and would like to buy credit, it is also possible. Firstly, you can pay directly with your credit card or PayPal for credit.

If you're like me and not comfortable with putting your credit card details online, you can still use crypto. At the time of writing, you can buy Splinterlands credit with a long list of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Wax, EOS, and many others.

To buy Credit with crypto outside Hive, repeat the process above and then select the specific crypto that you want to pay with. In this example, I'm using Bitcoin.

• After selecting Bitcoin, send the specific amount of Bitcoin to the wallet address provided and click "payment sent".

• Wait for the confirmation and your Credits to enter your account.

Note: Assuming you don't have any of the accepted cryptos, you can simply just exchange your crypto for any of the others that are accepted.

In summary

There's a lot of excitement surrounding Chaos Legion packs. These monsters will herald the next phase of the game.

Getting packs and eventually, some of the monsters is a nice way to get involved with one of the biggest games in blockchain space.

The only way to participate is through Credits. These packs are not only home to NFT, they're also contributing towards passive income from SPS tokens.

If you follow the instructions above, you will easily add credit to your wallet. After that, you'll be able to participate in the Chaos Legion general sale and improve your portfolio in the process.
