How was your end of season reward?

I ended the season with 59 loot chests and based on how my daily focus chests have been, I wasn't really expecting much. My suspicion turned out to be right, as my rewards were largely filled with potions, merits and DEC.

On the plus side, at least I got a couple of monsters and I also got one Chaos Legion pack for my trouble. Perhaps I would have been luckier if I played a bit more battles during the course of the season.

When I claimed my reward, I got a message that I will be receiving a gold level reward henceforth and I'm not sure what that means, since I start the new season at Silver 2. It will become clearer at the end of the season.

The struggle

My biggest challenge so far has been dealing with the constant changes that SPlinterlands has been undergoing. However, these changes were duly publicised, so it is no fault of the game developers.

For me, the biggest challenge has been the new ability-based daily focus. Half the time, I'm not even sure about what I'm supposed to do but I always end up with more rating points after every win, so at least I'm doing something right.

In any case, I'll continue digging up strategies that will enable me to battle higher up the ranks. All I want to do is ensure I make the best out of my current situation and create adequate value for the seed project, in the process.

Opening packs

Besides my Seed project SPlinterlands ranked battle account, I am also currently working hard to grow my personal deck. At the time of writing, I have a deck value of over $500, capable of battling in the silver level.

I still have some way to go before I can actually get to my desired target of diamond ranking but with a lot more packs left to open, things could start looking good for me.

For now, my main focus is getting in as many Summoners as I can to enable me to battle at higher ranks. Since I'm not currently battling with the monsters, I'll keep them in rentals, generating passive income that will inevitably be reinvested into the deck.

I believe that a deck value of around $1k with level 4 summoners should be able to grind to the top level of the Silver rank and that's my short-term target. I will subsequently get the deck up to Gold level but that will be a conversation for much later in life.

In Summary

Anyway, even though I'm struggling with the changes, I still feel quite good about Splinterlands as a whole. My deck value is constantly growing, I get to play with my original deck and I get to contribute to the Seed project.

Overall, I'll say that while not too pleased about the end-of-season reward, I am still happy with where I am in general and will try to get more chests this season. Fingers crossed.
