I fell for Tower Defense FOMO

I've been cut off from the crypto world for a while now but every now and then I stumble into information from people I follow. Recently, I stumbled into a thread by someone talking about buying Tower Defense packs and it got my FOMO hormone tingling.

I honestly had no intention of buying Tower Defense monsters or even playing the game. However, FOMO is a very dangerous thing in the crypto space and it pushed me into my decision.

My intention to sit out the Tower Defense packs was obliterated in a desperate fit of FOMO rage. "Luckily" for me, I'm too poor to actually invest any considerable amount in the packs, so I ended up with only 19 packs.

There will be an airdrop at a certain point and just like every other collection in Splinterlands, only those that buy Tower Defense packs will be eligible.

Buying 19 packs doesn't really offer me any assurance but at least it puts me in the running. Only thing left now will be for my luck to shine through and I get the packs.

I'll patiently buy more

So, at the time of writing, each Tower Defense packs costs 5000 DEC and 1 voucher. At the time of writing, 5000 DEC is worth around $3.8 while a voucher costs around 50 cents, so that's like $4.3 per pack.

Right now, each Tower Defense pack is slightly more expensive than the Chaos Legion packs. So, It's safe to hope that assets in the Tower Defense packs will be a bit more valuable.

Also, keep in mind that the Tower Defense packs are part of a side game of sorts that Splinterlands developed. It will feature a new kind of ranked, battling and mechanics that players can enjoy.

As I said at the start and in a previous publication, my plan was to sit out the Tower Defense game mode and same. However, FOMO got the best of me and here we are.

Anyway, I got my hands on 19 TD packs but before buying the packs, I actually bought 50 vouchers. This means that have to buy another 31 packs at least because I'm just that kind of guy.

The first 19 TD packs were FOMO based but the other 31 will definitely not be rushed. My plan is to simply stack up funds from liquidity pools and my HBD savings that will then be reinvested into the TD packs.

No more FOMO?

I honestly can't make any promises but at least I know I'm getting too poor to even consider investing in more Splinterlands assets.

My main goal is still to get a competitive deck of cards. In the long run, I want to be able to brawl in the gold league category.

My long-term plan looks set to take quite a long time to achieve, so I'm also not in any real rush to buy assets.

I'm also not going to focus my energy on buying packs anymore because I need to focus on specific monsters that strengthen my deck. I already talked about how I'll be generating funds through rentals to buy these monsters.

It is going to be a long and arduous road to be competitive but one thing that I'll like to avoid is falling for pack FOMO. It's not going to be easy but I reckon I can do it with some discipline, patience and good old-fashioned "I'm too poor to even FOMO".
